Just went to book Chessington World of adventures (for Father Christmas) after debating about it all afternoon. The prices this morning was £30 per person and now its £35!

Well I won't be booking it now. Hmm

Supply and demand. 🤷

MummmyDayCareNameChangeAGAIN · 01/12/2020 15:40

Or greed?

Some days are £20. Unpopular weekdays I guess.

VettiyaIruken · 01/12/2020 15:41

Try clearing all cookies and going again.

Sometimes sites show higher prices if you've been browsing recently.

Some show 'special discounts' 🙄 though and sometimes it doesn't change at all. So not particularly helpful I know 😁 but worth a shot.

@SoupDragon did you see some were £35? Or am I going mad?

Thanks @vettiyalruken I did just try that but its still showing as £35. The cheeky buggers! Lol.

Yes, some are £20 (weekdays early in the month) the rest are £35.

malmi · 01/12/2020 15:56

Book one of the £20 slots but make sure you insist on paying the full £30 you were willing to pay. Otherwise you're being greedy. Right?

Huh? If I wanted the £20 slot (its on a week day, kids are at school) I would have booked one

Its besides the point!!
The point is, my friend, that the slot I wanted was £30 this morning but £35 this afternoon. They are the greedy ones!

Well they can charge what they like can’t they? You’re free to choose to pay it and go or not pay and don’t go, nobody’s forcing you.

Meraas · 01/12/2020 16:51

Isn't there a BOAGOC deal on cereal packets? (buy one adult, get one child free).

MummmyDayCareNameChangeAGAIN · 01/12/2020 17:31

You are completely missing the point!!!

Unfortunately not.

It's not greedy at all. They are a business. A business that has most likely suffered with all the Covid stuff. Maybe the £30 was an "early bird" price that finished.

No it wasn't. Usually prices would change over night, not in the middle of the afternoon.

I think that during a pandemic, "usually" goes out the window.

Sonders · 01/12/2020 17:49

They're incentivising people who bought early with a lower price. It's not greedy to price their product in a way that allows them to maximise bookings, turn a profit and stay open. If you don't like it, you don't need to go.

Northofsomewhere · 01/12/2020 17:59

Is the date you wanted to book close? If so the early bird thing sounds entirely plausible, the first 10 tickets (for example) might be at a cheaper price but after that they increase in increments as supply decreases. I don't think it's as unusual as you think for prices to change at any time depending on demand, the internet is extremely responsive to changes in activity.

ilovesooty · 01/12/2020 18:01

Perhaps you should have booked it this morning then.

Justmuddlingalong · 01/12/2020 18:02

What about a go fund me page, is that an option?

Prices fluctuate all the time, I've just bought a top on Debenhams that were being sold for £50, then £25, and now £35. I managed to buy at £25, but want to buy another and it;'s annoying that it's £35, but I can't call Debs greedy for it.

LaceyBetty · 01/12/2020 18:03

How is it cheeky for a business to want to make money? If people are going to pay £35, they are going to charge it. What difference does it make what time of day they up their prices?

No, all the prices changed from £30 to £35.

Anyway. I am clearly being unreasonable.
