Here it is.
Thanks @BruceandNosh for the title.

And still we persist.

This is where inviting Flat Earth Fred from Frome onto "Stargazing Live" as balance ends it's journey.

DGRossetti · 03/12/2020 10:10

@maggiethecat

Didn’t you know that delusional Don thinks he can have a third term and a fourth......
I had picked up from somewhere more the idea that you'd get a Trump dynasty, so after him a parade of increasingly nauseous relations that ultimately - much as the Egyptians - could only be kept pure by incest. That's his aim.
maggiethecat · 03/12/2020 10:13

Crazily that’s what a lot of his followers would love to see 😱

Mittens030869 · 03/12/2020 10:16

What I find really scary is the number of people who actually believe his lies. A friend of ours revealed to us yesterday that he’s thoroughly convinced that the Presidential election was rigged. (He also believes that Covid is a hoax.)

Your friend may be right in that the President himself attempted to rig the election in his favour by telling his supporters not to mail in their ballot papers, but that backfired on him badly. Also, I'd agree that President Trump's Covid and his swift recovery from it was a hoax. But Covid itself is not actually a hoax. Don't suppose your friend would be inclined to believe me, though!

So why would these all powerful vote-riggin' lip-smackin' Democrats be so clueless as to fix the presidential election, but not use their superpowers to also fix the Senate and Congress while they're at it ?

This is where "being kind" rather than calling idiots idiots gets you.

EveryoneRevealsThemselves · 03/12/2020 11:06

The US constitution will prevail but what a fucking mess.

I worry though that it won’t prevail next time it’s tested like this (especially if it’s by someone smarter)

Mittens030869 · 03/12/2020 11:28

@DGRossetti Indeed. I wasn't involved in the conversation with this friend, he said this to my DH. I'd probably have given him a very sharp tongue lashing if I'd been there. (Although I'd have been more annoyed at the Covid is a hoax nonsense, as I have long Covid.)

Obviously, it's impossible to argue with stupid. Hmm

Mittens030869 · 03/12/2020 11:32

I agree with all of this. Maybe Trump thought he might gain public sympathy in the same way that Johnson did in this country, when he really did have Covid.

And yes, Trump tried very hard to rig the election by encouraged his supporters to vote twice and trying to prevent the mail in votes from getting counted at all.

DGRossetti · 03/12/2020 11:35

Sorry. Proven liar and cheat claims he had Covid. Don't believe him. There's one person who can never ever be given the benefit of any doubt ever.

OVienna · 03/12/2020 11:43

I haven't asked my US based Trump supporting relatives if they believe the vote has been rigged. I suspect they may, but I can't deal with any more hostility. It makes me very sad. We sort of have a truce at the moment on the topic. I think a couple may be on Parler now.

The craziest conspiracy theorist I know is in the UK in any case and not even a US voter in any case. "I've looked into this, I know." No, you really, really don't.

These people have a script. My dp has been taken in by it as well. It makes me angry. It is so ironic that they accuse others of being brainwashed when they all use identical words and phrases!

I don't understand how they think that they are somehow superior in their ability to discern information when they scoff at people who 'believe the mainstream media'. Meanwhile, Who and what do they take their sources from? Psychics, far right 'Christians' and Alex Jones on 'Infowars' Hmm

My dp says to me that Bill Gates is trying to kill people with the vaccine - he says that there is a video where Gates is saying that he plans to introduce vaccines to reduce the population. When I pointed out that he actually said no such thing, his response was

YOU'RE ON HIS SIDE.

Someone on Facebook pointed out that whoever started this nonsense has deliberately done it to cause tension and splits within families and communities. It's toxic.

OVienna · 03/12/2020 11:44

So many people in Trump's sphere have had COVID I do believe he had it.

CoteFolie · 03/12/2020 11:54

On Trump and Covid, it gave his campaign a restart after the disastrous 1st debate and he came back stronger and more lucid. Something happened.

And at what stage does First Amendment rights turn into treason especially when the people calling for mob rule/martial law are or were registered Foreign Agents?

I'm also worried about Joe Biden.

Yohoheaveho · 03/12/2020 12:00

I can completely believe that trump would fake having covid if he thought he could work it to his advantage
BUT ...could he have faked those balcony scenes where he genuinely appeared to be struggling for breath 🤔

TheNorthWestPawsage · 03/12/2020 12:02

Hello Soopermum1!

We're all here for the long haul so hope you've got a comfy seat and plenty of BrewWineGinCake (delete as necessary)

Nah, I don't think he could faked those. Him having covid was a given with his attitude. He must be pumped up to the hilt with drugs.

Adding my first contribution. I'm hoping the net is closing in and with Bill Barr removing himself or being removed from this circus, it will gather ground

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 03/12/2020 12:33

Private Eye has a small piece which says wtte "Biden wins election for 38th time since winning election."

Sums up the result of the Trump legal campaign's futile efforts.

Roussette · 03/12/2020 12:40

@Soopermum1
Welcome. Yep, we can't stay away from the batshittery!

The not believing in Covid, the saddest thing which I related on previous thread was a Nurse in the US who said that even on their deathbeds and struggling to breathe some of these people would not accept they had Covid and just insisted they had developed lung disease overnight.
How sad and awful is that.

@Roussette Yes I remember you sharing this on a previous thread. It really is so tragic. It also makes me very angry that so many people are being brainwashed into believing that Covid is a hoax.

The friend I spoke about earlier on this thread refused to take on board what my DH told him about me having long Covid. It must be long flu, he said. There really is no such thing! Hmm

Mittens030869 · 03/12/2020 13:54

Obviously you can get CFS after flu (I did last year) but what doesn't happen is for the symptoms to carry on all that time. And there are no 'false dawns' either.

TheNorthWestPawsage · 03/12/2020 14:28

Flowers Mittens030869 hope your long covid improves ASAP.

Sounds like it's possible come Jan 20th Trump may find he's not on many Repug's fast dial lists after all. The results of Georgia runoffs may be the final cut-off point as to whether they bin him or not.

RNC invites 2024 hopefuls to January meeting in show of neutrality toward Trump.
RNC chair Ronna McDaniel is positioning herself as a neutral force in the party going forward.
www.politico.com/news/2020/12/02/rnc-2024-hopefuls-trump-442302

Ronna McDaniel was President Donald Trump’s handpicked Republican National Committee chair.

Now, she’s taking steps to show her independence.

McDaniel is inviting roughly a dozen potential 2024 presidential candidates to the RNC's January meeting in Amelia Island, Fla. — the most explicit move she's made yet to show that the committee will be impartial going forward and not simply an extension of Trump’s political machine, even as he openly mulls a comeback bid.

The list of would-be candidates invited to speak includes South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, and former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley. Vice President Mike Pence, another potential contender, is planning to attend. Trump is also invited, though spokespersons declined to say whether he’d be going.

With Trump leaving office, the party organization is confronting a predicament: How to gingerly detach itself from the soon-to-be-ex-president — who has wielded vast control over the GOP apparatus for four years — as he plots his own political future. While McDaniel has been touting Trump’s endorsement as she runs for reelection as RNC chair, she has taken pains to privately reassure top Republicans that she would be an unbiased arbiter in the next nomination fight.

Sorry, I really can't get that upset about fewer idiots in the world. As long as it's only themselves at risk. It's when their idiocy risks others it starts being less funny.
