Here it is.
Thanks @BruceandNosh for the title.

And still we persist.

Very childish but the name Buttigieg made me laugh. It's probably pronounced completely different to how I think it is.

On a serious note, it is 2020 and he is the first openly gay person for a Cabinet position.

BruceAndNosh · 15/12/2020 20:17

I played golf today using Trump election rules.
Miscounted shots taken, holes won.

Then when I thinned my approach shot, I claimed a win as at one point my ball was only 2 inches from the hole (on its way to ending up 3 feet off the back of the green)

I am sure that Mornington Crescent will be played under those rules soon.

To be clear Tales of Brave Ulysses is not pretentious!

Fealty:

eu.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2020/12/15/barr-blind-loyalty-not-enough-to-save-trump-from-voters-column/3904158001/

'Nearly 500 years ago, King Henry VIII sacked his most loyal courtier, Thomas Cromwell, removing him from office and then beheading him. Today, Attorney General William Barr suffers the same Cromwellian fate, his sycophantic fealty to President Donald Trump rewarded by being tossed onto the pile of discarded Trumpian supporters. Fortunately for Barr we have given up the tradition of beheading, but he was given the modern-day equivalent send off — the opportunity, Trump said, to “spend more time with his family” (as if leaving the job Dec. 23, 28 days before it would end, is necessary to assure his family’s holiday happiness). '

@BruceAndNosh you beat me to it with Randy! Love it.

It reminded me of the Netherlands First video

I'd forgotten those videos - they were amazing Grin

SanFranBear · 15/12/2020 22:36

On a more somber note, I truly hope that something can be done around him reform, although I genuinely can't see it happening...

If the utterly senseless slaughter of twenty 6 & 7 year olds changed nothing - and it didn't - I don't hold out any hope!

I know that as VP, he spent a lot of time with the families of the victims so perhaps has a more personal stake than in other shootings... but I just don't know Sad

SanFranBear · 15/12/2020 22:37

*gun reform, obviously

Fox opinion piece

www.foxnews.com/opinion/trump-biden-electoral-college-richard-fowler

Richard Fowler: Trump’s defeat is now final, bringing a disastrous presidency to a welcome end

Look, we all know that no one likes to lose. But no matter how upset Trump is, no matter how much nonsense he tweets, no matter how many people he fires, and no matter how many frivolous lawsuits he files, he is headed out the door. His defeat will bring a welcome end to a disastrous presidency that waged war on the Constitution, our right to vote, freedom of the press, many other fundamental American rights, and the truth itself.

The results of the Electoral College vote shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. Joe Biden represents the best of America, has advanced moderate and effective policies, and has decades of government experience. He is a uniter, not a divider like Trump. He bases decisions on facts, and will take the job of being president seriously.

EveryoneRevealsThemselves · 15/12/2020 23:32

I agree @SanFranBear
I believe Obama has talked about failing to get gun reform passed after Sandy Hook as one of his biggest regrets.

What is also truly horrific about the USA post- Sandy Hook, are the widespread conspiracy rumours about It.
In case you haven’t heard these, there’s a whole wiki page for them and you’ll be surprised to know that Alex Jones is a big promoter of these lies. I mean, imagine losing your child and then receiving death threats from people because they think you’re lying about it.

The next thing to watch for is the "pardons" there is news on the web that these may be granted before any wind of future federal prosecutions

I was watching an opinion piece on the news today and the speaker opined that Barr resigned before the real batshittery started, the biggestbeing the plethora of pardons that are surely coming. He indicated that Barr has a real good instinct for saving his own skin and wanted to be long gone before he becomes tainted or 'finger pointed at' by not pushing back on the worst of them. Particularly if the DoJ is dragged into a 'self pardon' controversy.

Something on Barr and those golden ticket pardons from the Oompa Loompa.

William Barr's exit is bad news for Trump's hopes of an 11th-hour pardoning spree.

Gun reform is a dead duck in the US.

It's a shame the courts don't rush to uphold amendments 1,3,4,5 etc as much as they do 2.

But as long as the interpretation of the 2nd remains as it is, there isn't any path to gun control.

I hate to even suggest it, but I am sure there are many Americans who would: recent events may have turned out a lot worse for democracy if the wannabee tyrant Trump had an unarmed population. Even at over 2 centuries distance, the memory that King George disarmed the population burns bright.

Indeed banning and confiscating private weapons is usually the first act of a repressive regime.
