I read an interesting article today (which of course I now can't find) comparing the Trump era to McCarthyism. Anyone who doesn't toe the line is ousted, vilified. We are heading the same way, Democrat = communist. Moderate Republican = closet Democrat. Dissenting Republican or prominent Democrat =Deep State

I'm finding this whole 'lame duck' period so worrying. Bloody well not lame enough! Can't help thinking Trump wants to go out with a 'bang' to the detriment of pretty much everyone.

I wonder how much of this long transition period stems from the days of communication difficulties across the States - when I guess things were carried by horse back - or the Pony Express.

Or is it because it takes a long time to get the new teams together?

Are there 'official rules' about things that can't be done during this period - such as attacking other countries?

I'm still a little worried they'll pull off some horrendous undemocratic coup, but it looks like most the Dem lawmakers at the top have enough integrity to say that democracy must be enacted and there is simply not a shred of evidence of any jiggery-pokery with the votes.

I think most likely he'll slope off at the GOP will plan for a run in 2024 either with Trump again or someone else awful, basically having spent the previous 4 years spreading absolutely any nonsense lie they can think of, then running on a 'THIS WAS THE MOST CORRUPT ADMINISTRATION EVER!' ticket and pointing to all their retweets as 'proof' that Kamala Harris is a Russian spy, and Biden was corrupt, various Democrats were 'pedos' and the 2020 vote was a fix. And it'll probably work.
