To think how come there are men on Mumsnet ?

Daisyflower12345 · 26/11/2020 13:47

I was quite confused to be honest.

I genuinely thought Mumsnet as it's says mums. Is for women only just surprised to come across a lot of males.

Now it's not a bad thing at all. Just quite surprising to be honest ?

@Skysblue

Can't say I've ever come across anyone, male of female "getting off" about mastitis ConfusedHmm strange post!

PurpleDaisies · 26/11/2020 22:29

@DorisDaisyMay

They always have a man’s name in their user name and introduce that they are a man when posting.

I always wish they would go away.

Yes, it’s usually something like “as a man, I think people should drink and drive” or some such thing where their sex is totally irrelevant.
Daisyflower12345 · 26/11/2020 22:31

@ComeOnBabyHauntMyBubble Hahah so much aggression, didn't know this could hurt your feelings that much.

Take a breather ! It's just a post lol out of general curiousty no need to be so aggressive. Take a chill pill pal 😂😂😂

Except for the many who don't, whom none of us would ever know (or need to know) about.

Savourysenorita · 26/11/2020 22:35

Why the anti men vibe? How judgey. Also what about gay men who have no interest in women sexually? Many 'fem' gay men relate more to women and may feel more comfortable seeking advice or reading content relating more to what women talk about. Furthermore many men are dads and (sole parent dads even) that need support of advice off mums/other dads. Everyone loves a good 'AIBU' regardless of gender/sex.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 26/11/2020 22:36

There's probably a parallel thread on Pistonheads right now (can't be certain as I never go on there) with a load of posters asking "What's with all the women invading these boards? Everybody knows they can't drive anyway!!!!!!!!"

@ComeOnBabyHauntMyBubble me thinks @Daisyflower12345 is a 'netmum' hun.Wink lol lol haha

Sparklingbrook · 26/11/2020 22:41

@Thegereldine3000

Probably because there is no dadsnet and men might be too embarrassed to ask their wives/partners for advise.

Because they find it useful and want to chat.

Daisyflower12345 · 26/11/2020 22:43

@Savourysenorita what is a net mum? Care to enlighten me haha lol

Siepie · 26/11/2020 22:44

There may be less men than you think. I've been accused at least twice of being a man on here when mentioning my wife. I'm a lesbian.

I know plenty of men who are the main or only carer for their children. It makes sense that they'd use a big parenting site like Mumsnet or Netmums (both 'mum' in the name).

It did cross my mind.

Justine's bub, her rulez.

CannibalQueen · 26/11/2020 23:15

My instinct says that sometimes men need parenting advice too, especially if they are single or don't want to ask their wife or mother. I don't have a huge issue with blokes taking part because I think we need to be there for male parents as well.

Sparklingbrook · 26/11/2020 23:24

There does seem to be an awful lot of men over in the Sex Topic.
Not wanting advice but very eager to overshare their experiences. Confused

Are women naturally much better and more experienced parents and able to dispense sound parenting advice to their (presumably similar-aged) husbands who have been parents as long as they have, then? Confused

Audreyseyebrows · 27/11/2020 02:05

‘For parents by parents’ or something.

Why do you not like men op?

Audreyseyebrows · 27/11/2020 02:10

@Daisyflower12345 A net hun doesn’t swear (ever) uses kisses (xxx) and likes to tell you how perfect her 451 month old is. She is more at home on the other side

I find this very useful. I have sex with men and MN is the only place I can hear the opinion of men, therefore potentially having a better understanding of any issues, without feeling inhibited. In real life I couldn't get male opinions on sex issues without either causing embarrassment round the coffee machine at work or my questions being interpreted as 'coming on' to male contacts.

I have hidden the whole topic. Some of them are a bit too enthusiastic for my liking.
LouJ85 · 27/11/2020 14:02

@SoupDragon

Some of them want parenting advice, some of them want to be condescending arseholes

Rather like the women.

Yep. The men I've encountered on here are nicer than many of the women!
BadTattoosAndSmellLikeBooze · 27/11/2020 15:08

Not wanting advice but very eager to overshare their experiences.

Something tells me that many of them haven’t had much experience at all.

Gobbycop · 27/11/2020 16:09

Because the site is full of useful information.

Some posters even ask for a male perspective on certain threads.

Shocking really isn't it, I'm a white straight male so currently everything that's evil and wrong with the world 😂

MinnieMountain · 27/11/2020 16:18

The most useful threads I’ve been on here were Cancer Support and Parental Bereavement. It didn’t matter if I was female or male.
