Why can't people read properly?!

Might be a tad unreasonable but why do people bother replying to threads if they haven't read the op properly?

Op hi I have issues with my xx but the yy is having a hard time getting any attention from us and it's my 48th birthday today and everyone has forgotten it even though I get presents for my families fish, I just don't know what to do about the custard curdling

Or some other stuff like that

Most posters

hi op I'd try this recipe

But other people are like

have you thought you might have asd? Hi op, I don't know how old you are ITS IN THE OP!!

Read it!! Or even worse is when the thread has moved on from custard recipes to maybe the op has realised that there are bigger issues and they need help with that and people are still commenting custard recipes!!

The odd mistake aside I always wonder if these are the people in real life who love the sound of their own voices or who talk in long boring monologues.

Or another one about the nappy on the train 'is he a newborn op? Were all the loos closed?' she was 2 and no there were other toilets! stop asking questions that could be answered by just reading..

There was another loo, she just hadn't tried to find it . . . If you RTFT WinkGrin

I think what annoys me the most is when people post on p4 with the most obvious response. Do they think that their thinking is so original that their point won't already have been made by the first 100 people?

God these are SO frustrating!

I read one yesterday where the OP clearly just wanted to let off steam (about losing weight of the lack thereof) and someone told her off for being angry when she answered a question about her weight with “I think you’ll find both of those are answered in the OP”.

If you write a long OP then it doesn’t get read properly (or it does and someone picks up on a scene-setting detail and won’t let it go) or you’re accused of drip feeding.

Maybe the OP shouldn't waffle on and write huge long, exhausting posts with the caveat 'don't want to drip feed'. Just get to the point in the fewest words possible!

Guilty as charged

I'm dyslexic so I miss stuff and misread other stuff. My apologies for the inconvenience to you.

Maybe try being a little more tolerant of the people around you. Does it actually damage your life in anyway that someone missed the word "today" or "48th"? No. So maybe dont be a dick about it.

I'd recommend tinned custard OP - perfect every time.

Fish love freshly podded peas, who knew?

I agree op. I've noticed a real lack of reading comprehension on many threads. I also believe this is why so many people voted for Brexit. Because they lacked comprehension skills when reading the relevant information about the pros and cons.

That has got to be the funniest thing I have read on here. Seriously???

I think it’s partly people not reading properly and partly people not thinking that people might live in a different situation to them.

E.g school parking thread one poster stated “ALL CHILDREN SHOULD WALK TO SCHOOL. PARENTS ARE LAZY”
Others stated their situations and explained why that isn’t always possible but apparently I should walk my kids 3 miles along a B road with no pavements or lampposts.

@BashfulClam

‘We have been married for two years and have 2 children (5 and 3), then a lot of responses say are you married? How long have you been married, do you have children? How old are yout children? Aargh!

I’ve never seen one that bad but sometimes when the post is like war and peace you want to get the general jist without wasting ten minutes of your life.

I also don’t like abbreviations that for a newcomer can be puzzling. Posts would read so much easier without D-this and X-that.

My dog loves custard.

But to be fair, a significant chunk of the population can't even change a tyre...

Considering that changing tyres normally requires specialist workshop machinery, that isn't that surprising.

I'm hoping Changi meant changing a wheel on a car - for which you should have all you need to put the emergency wheel on.

Or change a bike tyre - kit, bowl of water and a couple of spoons should suffice IIRC my childhood days.

OP have you cancelled the cheque yet? Wink

I get you.

OP: I need to buy some X. Of course the obvious place to get X is from A, but that won't work for PQR reasons. Anyone got any other suggestions for good alternative brands?

3rd post in: Honestly I don't know why people bother to post these threads. A is the obvious place to get X from. Everyone gets their X's from A.

Grin Yes, that has happened to me! (Fortunately thread also contained useful suggestions).

Sometimes posters are falling over themselves, so desperate to be unkind or criticise the OP that they fail to read properly and end up making a tit of themselves. That’s very satisfying!

One the other day from a woman who was exhausted and stressed by juggling work and childcare and whose husband was unsupportive, and some walnut came along and told her to get a job, despite the OP mentioning she had one in her opening post Hmm
