To not stay in bathroom when running a bath

DH says everyone should stay in the bathroom when running a bath incase it overflows and floods the bathroom. This has never happened by the way.

AIBU to not stay in the bathroom for 10 minutes and busy myself with other things or is DH right and I am being wreckless and lazy to walk away from a running bath?

I once flooded a hotel room. Long story short, but I created a shallow swimming pool in the entire room/suite. Overflow only handles a small amount of water. Blush
When I opened the door, the water gushed out into the hallway... my suitcase and clothes and things that were on the floor had been swimming in the room... Blush

The overflow won't be able to empty the water that reaches it as quickly as it is being over filled by the taps unless you are dripping it in in a tiny trickle

Did you guys not have those questions in maths tests at school "If a bath is being filled at X gallons per minute and there is a hole in the bath which is letting water out at Y gallons a minute, how long before the bath overflows ?" Wink

I feel better about when I flooded a hotel room now. Didn't have things flowing into the corridor, but there was very wet carpet. When I reported it, the reaction from the receptionist made me suspect I was far from the first person to do this.

I have once st my parents house (on a stay there as a grown up). I felt terrible! And of course the overflow wouldn’t stop it happening if a decent amount of water is running in - the overflow is not that big! (So therefore, is there a point to it? Hmmm...)
