To blow the whistle?

Every morning there is a man who goes for a job past my house. He always wears the same outfit, which is black Nike top, black shorts, black socks pulled up to his knees and trainers. He looks like a referee from a football match rather than a jogger. WIBU to one morning shout, “offside!” and blow a whistle?

Each time I drag my fat arse out the door to run I convince myself "No one cares what you look like, just get moving"

Thanks for the "lighthearted" confirmation that people are almost certainly sniggering about my efforts to be healthier.

Yep, really fucking lighthearted!

You are projecting. OP mentioned nothing about this chaps weight.

I'm not projecting.

OP is taking the piss out of how someone looks when exercising. This is precisely the kind of thing that stops people from venturing out and trying exercise...because they don't want people taking the piss out of them! My ordinary sized friend won't run in public because of this precise issue.

I'm not self conscious because I'm fat. I'm self conscious because I can't afford 'running' clothes so look less than convincing as a 'jogger' when out and about.

Taking the piss out of people for how they dress when exercising is low and spiteful.

But of course it's just a joke so I should shut up!

Wow. Definitely not projecting at all. Not even a little bit.

Not at all, you clearly have no idea what projecting looks like Hmm. But petty and nasty comments like this undermine people's confidence before they even try.

I don't like bullying. I'll always stand up to it. I honestly couldn't give a shit what people think of me but poisonous internet posts like this are insidious and can really affect people's confidence to even step out their door.

The OP taking the piss about how an actual person chooses to dress for exercising and suggesting that openly mocking them would be a fun thing to do is not lighthearted or a bit of a joke. It's mean spirited and spiteful.

Wow. There really are some miseries who've had a sense of humour bypass on MN this afternoon, and who wouldn't spot a lighthearted thread if they fell over one.
