To think PJs are much nicer than joggers?

Or other comfy/scruffy clothes/loungewear.

DH had a major OP 12 weeks ago. To begin with he wore the new PJs he bought to go into hospital, around the house. Navy blue button through traditional style PJs with a collar. He was comfortable and looked fine. Now, he's graduated to getting "dressed" in comfy joggers and an old fleece. OMG he looks like a tramp! He has a huge incision across his middle, so I completely sympathise with him wanting to wear something stretchy.

Similarly, I have a pair of PJ bottoms in a brushed woven cotton which hold their shape and look much better for lounging around than joggers do IMO.

When dressed for relaxing at home AIBU to think PJs are the best option? I'll add I don't mean the actual PJs you slept in.

Wear whatever your comfy in. Especially after a major operation

iamtheoneandonlyyy · 20/11/2020 16:42

Yes very unreasonable. Home is chill time

vanillandhoney · 20/11/2020 16:43

Nope, I'd rather wear loungewear. For me, that's leggings and an oversized sweater.

Audreyseyebrows · 20/11/2020 16:43

I don’t own jogging bottoms. Vile things. However I haven’t just had a big op! If I did I might consider them.

I prefer to dress.

Crystal87 · 20/11/2020 16:44

No he should wear whatever he wants. As long as he's comfortable what he looks like doesn't matter as long as he's clean.

HorridHamble · 20/11/2020 16:44

Decent trackies hold their shape well and mean you don’t need to get changed to nip out to the shop. Not that your DH will be nipping out anywhere for a while by the sound of it! I do take your point about scruffy misshapen ones though.

BecomeStronger · 20/11/2020 16:49

To be clear, this isn't intended as a criticism of DH, more an observation of different lounge wear options. I think I look better in PJs than in joggers or leggings too.

Personally I can’t sit in Pjs all day even when ill I need to get dressed so will put on leggings and a big hoody or whatever.

But what other people do I couldn’t care less unless they are smelly and sit next to me!

BecomeStronger · 20/11/2020 16:54

Yes, I agree you need to "get dressed" I wouldn't sleep in the PJs worn around the house during the day or vice versa. I'd get dressed into clean PJs

I feel sorry for your husband. He’s just had major surgery and you’re sniping about what he’s wearing to stay comfortable.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 20/11/2020 16:58

God, the mumber of judgemental posts here lately!

Joggers, tracksuits 'Lounge wear' are so outre, don't ya know!

Smallsteps88 · 20/11/2020 16:59

My pyjamas are all ancient, mismatched and very worn. Definitely not pleasant to look at but they are very comfortable which is what I want in a sleep outfit. The pjs I have that match and look decent rarely get worn because they just aren’t comfortable.

No I'm not, I'm saying PJs could be a smarter option for both of us.

Why do you need to be smart when lounging in your own house. Especially when recovering from surgery

vanillandhoney · 20/11/2020 17:05

How are PJ's in any way smart?

Genuinely don’t get why you need to be smart in your house, particularly in your DHs case

BecomeStronger · 20/11/2020 17:18

Why does anyone need to be smart/attractive ever? But we still aim to look presentable when we go out, why not when at home with your partner?

OP posts:
Sirzy · 20/11/2020 17:20

Because at home your supposed to be able to chill and let your hair down.

I couldn’t do with living with someone who expected me to be smart when chilling in my own home

  1. You are making a judgement based on your idea of 'presentable'
  1. Because neither of us require it of the other one!

But being at home recovering from an operation is very different to being out and about Confused

Even being at home in general is very different. I certainly wouldn't expect DH to dress smartly to sit on the sofa and watch TV. That's totally bizarre to me!

ZolaGrey · 20/11/2020 17:26

Good lord leave him be.

LaurieFairyCake · 20/11/2020 17:27

I've bought about 10 pairs of pyjamas this month - I'm obsessed !

I LOVE getting into them at the end of the day

Got navy modal jersey ones with white piping from M and S, really comfortable. Kate Barnett ones - lovely cotton. Some silk ones from Brand Alley.

Same, sod that.

Greektome · 20/11/2020 17:47

There's a difference between being smart and not being slovenly.

NoddyWithAVoddy · 20/11/2020 17:54

Why not just put him in a lounge suit complete with a smoking jacket and be done with it.
The blokes just had surgery, cut him some slack. It's not about you.
Imagine if when you'd just come home from hospital after having a baby and your husband expected you to wear a nice dress, because it looks smarter than sick stained old t.shirts and leggings.
