I was about to ask the same....I though lurpack was real butter, is it because it's the spreadable version??

ilovecardigans · 17/11/2020 22:56

@PanamaPattie

You need Lurpak real butter to butter your toast twice - once when it's hot and then spread more when the toast has cooled. Then sprinkle it with sea salt.
Nigella?? Grin
jessstan1 · 17/11/2020 22:58

It doesn't look like dinner.

Oysterbabe · 17/11/2020 22:59

Spreadable butter is not butter, it is an abomination. Otherwise good, 9/10.

VienneseWhirligig · 17/11/2020 23:00

Does sound delicious. It is the sort of thing DS and I have as an indulgence.

jessstan1 · 17/11/2020 23:00

@ferociouskin

It's Brussels pate, chicken liver pate, baked Camembert, caramelised chutney, bread and butter...is delicious, full up already. Noted on the butter Blush
Very nice, just read what it was. I don't like Camembert but that is just a matter of taste so could be substituted (husband loved it and would eat loads, Brie too); the bread looks lovely. I still wouldn't call it a dinner though.

@Jinglebellissimo

I think it looks tasty OP. And is probably going to upset a lot of pregnant women Grin
Said pregnant women can have everything in that picture except the pate if they are following NHS guidance Smile
MillyA · 17/11/2020 23:09

I got excited when I saw what I thought was Branson pickle Grin

jessstan1 · 17/11/2020 23:10

@Strawberrypancakes

I thought the thing on it’s own was a lemon meringue pie 😂
Me too :-).
TheDowagerDuchess · 17/11/2020 23:11

It looks amazing!

I think lurpack is fine personally, although I wouldn’t have butter with that meal at all.

TheDowagerDuchess · 17/11/2020 23:13

Baked Camembert I accept is allowed when pregnant as it’s cooked. But I thought pate was an absolute no. Has that been updated as it seemed the very worst thing (apart from cigarette or illegal drugs obviously) when I was last pregnant in 2013/4. Even worse than booze I thought!

ilovecardigans · 17/11/2020 23:13

Q: What cheese do you use to coax a bear out of a tree?

A: Camembert

That looks alright. I'd prefer if olive oil was included rather than rapeseed but there you go. It's nearly all butter and doesn't make holes in your bread. I buy Lurpak spreadable sometimes and Country Life, depending on where I shop. Both are nice.
omg35 · 17/11/2020 23:13

You are so unreasonable! Some of us are pregnant you know... Wink

Fancycrackers · 17/11/2020 23:16

That's a snack not dinnerShock

AldiAisleofCrap · 17/11/2020 23:16

Looks like ham , beef, bread and Hartleys raspberry jelly. Not very appetising looking.

Yes, everything except the pate.

Pate is still advised against - partly for the listeria risk and partly due to high levels of vitamin A in liver pates.

You need something fresh, cherry tomatoes/grapes etc, not to make it remotely healthy, but to cleanse the palate so you can eat more cheese and pate without starting to feel queasy

Davros · 18/11/2020 00:08

The only spreadable that should be allowed is M&S or Président as they do not have oil added. If it's a block of butter there's many, many better than Lurpak. My mum used to buy me Lurpak in the 70s because I didn't like her very salty Kerrygold. There's more choice now

BadlyDrawnSimpsonsCharacter · 18/11/2020 01:20

@tions

Foie gras?
I sincerely hope not.
HelgaDownUnder · 18/11/2020 05:17

@Pickypolly

What’s that brown stuff?

Nope.
Egg & chips is the best tea ever. EVER.

Provided the yolk is runny so the chips can be dipped into it.

And the chips are cooked in proper fat, not some polyunsaturated satan-snot.

Happynow001 · 18/11/2020 05:28

Actually I prefer mine. A tender chicken breast cooked with lemon and garlic. A large helping of mixed roasted vegetables with plenty of tomato/tomato purée and red onion plus a baked sweet potato. Plus a plate of sliced strawberries with yoghurt and a dash of maple syrup followed by a nice large cuppa. Yummy. 😋

eaglejulesk · 18/11/2020 05:37

No thanks. I've just had fish and chips - much nicer!
