AIBU to think and hope a cat caused this?

Been home alone all day with 5 month old baby.

Came upstairs to this, and the records were originally stacked on floor against blue dresser. I'm v freaked out right now and not normally a believer in spooky things so I'm hoping the non believers come out to tell me its the cat.

I just can't explain how the covers to the vinyl ended up opposite side of room!!

AIBU to think and hope a cat caused this?

It isnt the dog. Its the cat setting the dog up and then sauntering of.
If you want something really scary I woke up one night to the horrible feeling that someone was in the room watching me (I live alone and my child was at his dads so the house was empty). I lay frozen and then heard movement in the corner of the room. Then someone sat down on my legs.
Long story short it was a cat that had climbed in an upstairs window and gone to explore but it was terrifying!

Cats are bastards. Deceptively strong bastards

Yep Grin
Just be glad they never developed opposable thumbs, OP - because then you'd have come back to worse

@VettiyaIruken

They're slippery. The cat probably sent them flying. I once used my dad's records as skates. Got up a reasonable speed.

Which I wish I could have used to escape when he came home and saw! 😂

So yes, it'll be the cat.

ha ha ha ha this really did make me laugh :)

Lol I posted on mumsnet because I know the majority of you are sceptics and would male me feel better. I've had a knot in my stomach all day about it and not eaten since yesterday morning :(

I've kept the bedroom door shut tight today and praying nothing else happens.

@LioneIRichTea

Nothing to add OP except that Brothers in Arms is a cracking album Grin
Aye. Good times.

Jocasta2018 · 18/11/2020 15:06

Queen & Dire Straits! How old's the cat?

Vilanelle · 18/11/2020 15:28

@Jocasta2018 haha about 6!

Aw, deep breaths op, atleast 5 in and out (holding your breath 5 sec).

Think rationally what would be the chances of something trying to get your attention and at the same time showing good taste in music Wink. It's the cat. Oh and please eat, you are bound to feel even more anxious on an empty stomach.

(Last night at 2 am it gave a 'ploiink' in my house, this morning the hand sanitizer was on the floor in the hallway... I have two cats Grin).

OrangeIsTheNewTwat · 18/11/2020 15:55

It'll just be one of your animals' latest trick. Relax, why worry about how they got the vinyls so far away.

Vilanelle · 18/11/2020 19:46

Well it seems you were all (thankfully) right. Having kept the door shut all day, nothing happened. Took baby upstairs to change for bed and opened bedroom door, willing my dog to go in and in she went, straight for the records, nudging them from underneath. Think she could maybe smell a bit of baby formula I've tipped during night feeds. Case closed hopefully lol

I would rehome the animals. Nothing goes near my babies (my vinyl).
I would rehome my own children if they damaged my vinyl.

yetanothernamitynamechange · 19/11/2020 09:01

@ohbabyxox I was actually super brave. I lept out of bed shouting ready to attack the intruder (and kick him in the balls) but luckily the cat instantly scarpered under the table so he was unharmed. And then I spend a fun half hour or so trying to get him out of my house. It was an eventful night.

Littlestlily · 19/11/2020 10:37

@ViciousJackdaw

It was the spirit of Freddie Mercury trying to tell you, via the cat, to put his album on.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 love this!
OrangeIsTheNewTwat · 19/11/2020 16:56

It was the records. They were fed up of being stuck in one place. They are giving you a message... I want to break free
