AIBU to think and hope a cat caused this?

Been home alone all day with 5 month old baby.

Came upstairs to this, and the records were originally stacked on floor against blue dresser. I'm v freaked out right now and not normally a believer in spooky things so I'm hoping the non believers come out to tell me its the cat.

I just can't explain how the covers to the vinyl ended up opposite side of room!!

My cat absolutely loves sitting on anything made of paper, so she would get rid of the vinyl to get to the covers.

She also brought a worm in this morning. Be grateful you have no worm.

Jaxhog · 17/11/2020 12:12

I'm always surprised by what cats will do. We had a big heavy 'panic mouse' contraption and we couldn't understand how it kept ending up under the dining room table. I mean, it was 3 times the size of our kitten, who played with it in another room And why would he? We were flummoxed until we caught him dragging it there.

Another kitten de-furred every cushion and toy. Why? I've no idea.

Another one figured out how to open the fridge. Nightmare!

Jaxhog · 17/11/2020 12:14

Having seen the youtube video of a cat wearing a shark outfit riding round on a rumba, I'd believe anything of a cat.

pussycatinboots · 17/11/2020 12:43

Maybe the cat doesn't like your taste in music. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Vilanelle · 17/11/2020 14:22

Feeling really anxious about it actually, its freaked me out. I'm really hoping it is the cat, I'm currently experiencing posy natal anxiety and this is not helping at all lol

If it was a random spirit it's a bit of a shit one isn't it? It probably thought:
"Oooh I could totally trash the place, I could make weird noises, I could create foul smells but no...I will make a mild nuisance of myself and scatter these records. Muahahahaha does my evil know no bounds?!"
Honestly OP don't worry. It was probably a cat but if its something spooky it's a rookie ghost.

CounsellorTroi · 17/11/2020 14:32

My friend was woken up by her cat falling on her face. It had been taking a midnight stroll across the top of the headboard and lost its balance.

Vilanelle · 17/11/2020 14:36

@MissBaskinIfYoureNasty see, I know what you're saying is right - I don't believe in this stuff, when my mum passed, I begged for signs she was around and got nothing. I'm just not convinced a cat could scatter them that far, and if it wasn't the cat then it must be something spooky!

Bah, I need to stop obsessing over it. I've lived here five years and never had anything else happen!

VettiyaIruken · 17/11/2020 15:21

Its either the cat, or some sort of restless spirit decided to pass a bit of time looking at your record collection.

One of these is a realistic explanation. The other is far fetched bonkersness! 😁

Anxiety is a bitch so sympathies Flowers but I promise you there's nothing to get spooked about. Please try not to dwell on it.

@VettiyaIruken but what if it was a way of showing me their presence! I can't stop going over it and I'm even feeling too scared to go upstairs. Absolutely fucking ridiculous

Leannethom85 · 17/11/2020 16:05

Been the cat, cats knocked them down got a fright and slipped on the sleeves of the records esp on the rug... Cats went wheeeeee along the floor

ohbabyxox · 17/11/2020 16:05

Has there ever been any other spooky goings on?
I recently was very un nerved about some fairy lights we put around a mirror. They kept turning on by themselves and I never realized they were coming on by themselves, I just assumed it was DP Turning them on each day until I was sat on my own and they just switched on all by themselves. I told DP and he thought I'd been the one turning them on each day. Queue the pair of us being very dramatic and creeped out but then we soon realised they have a timer and come on at certain times Grin such a relief!

Vilanelle · 17/11/2020 16:25

@ohbabyxox nothing else out of the ordinary. The cat was in for the first time in ages yesterday (he tends to stay out as is nervous of baby) and I can imagine him trying to step up on them then kicking off if he slipped lol I was thinking more about him stepping down onto them and that couldn't explain position of records but stepping up yes, they would have fallen and he probably kicked them about whilst trying to get up higher. Clasping at straws ha

I have three cats, and they are always moving stuff around. I have a wooden pine chair in my bedroom, and bought two new cushions to put on it the other day, I looked at it later, and the two cushions were dragged on the floor, and there was a fluffy cardigan on the back of the chair, and one of them had dragged the cardigan onto the chair seat, and was fast asleep on it. They are always flicking things off my units in the bedroom, as in, eye pencils, combs and brushes, and lipsticks etc.

Vilanelle · 17/11/2020 18:48

OK an update. Tonight my partner went upstairs to change baby and she heard noise in bedroom, she went in and 3 records were separated from pile and on floor but the dog was in there by them. My head is spinning now. The cat wasn't in.

Could the animals really have done this 2 nights in row

OP posts:
Vilanelle · 17/11/2020 18:48

Feel like throwing up

VettiyaIruken · 17/11/2020 19:18

Could animals have found a fun thing to play with and played with it more than once?
Yes.

If you are fretting about it, put the records in a cupboard or something.

ohbabyxox · 17/11/2020 19:19

Oh okay so the plot thickens. Its defo the dog. Dogs are always up to mischief

steppemum · 17/11/2020 19:20

cat jumped on top of records standing up, they started to fall over, cat scrabbles, sends covers and record flying. Cat lands on pile and scrabbles to get away, and kicks off the covers across the room, and the records fly out.

Leannethom85 · 17/11/2020 23:20

Move the records and find out what's behind the records that your pets seem to be near them and knocking them over.. Extra unwanted pet that's caught the dog and cats attention

Vilanelle · 18/11/2020 09:01

There's nothing behind records but I'm keeping my bedroom door closed today to rule out pets.

If it happens again I'm gonna send dp in to check for mice/rats and if there's no sign, I'm moving out!
