I find my DH really difficult to buy for. Not only that, I find my dad and my brother equally difficult. All the men in my family! I never know what to get them!

What are you getting for the significant other in your life this year?!!

OP posts:
SharedLife · 15/11/2020 15:02

Wireless headphones
Beard kit
Dairy free hot chocolates

vanillandhoney · 15/11/2020 15:11

Waterproof socks Grin he's a mountain biker and his current pairs are near the end of their useful lifespan.
Probably some of his favourite sweets/chocolates.
A bottle of his favourite alcohol.

PawPawNoodle · 15/11/2020 15:12

I'll probably buy him an expensive bourbon and/or a record that he can't justify the price of himself.

BeyondMyWits · 15/11/2020 15:18

An automatic watch winder. He has not been wearing his watch lately and it is one of those that needs movement to wind it.

Toiletrollbuyer · 15/11/2020 15:20

For Christmas we always just decide something that we want for the house and then buy it together, last year it was a lovely new oled tv. Boring I know, but we have each other and if either of us want or need something personal then we just buy it ourselves. It’s about making the kids happy in our house

isseywith4vampirecats · 15/11/2020 15:21

AriesTheRam · 15/11/2020 15:21

Parfums de Marly Herod aftershave

Lurchermom · 15/11/2020 15:44

I've had some photos he has taken printe professionally to go in his new office (we are moving house). If I am able I'll get them framed but not sure I will have time/lockdown allows.

I'm going to by him a good quality safety razor. He uses an electric generally but keeps eyeing them up. They aren't expensive so I'll get him one of those plus a few bits go go with it (nice foam and a brush maybe).

He usually asks for some car parts too so I'll pick something from that list.

Rocococo · 15/11/2020 15:50

Pizza shovel
Long sleeved bike jersey (chosen by him)
Coffee subscription

Nottherealslimshady · 15/11/2020 15:52

A week in a secluded cabin with hot tub. Gin. A mouse for his laptop. Chocolate. An ornament of a man and woman and little baby. A card game. Some bath bombs. A nice top.

ginglebellsginglebells · 15/11/2020 16:22

I got him the new XBOX for his (milestone) birthday and Christmas combined.

I'll also get him some chocolates, a new shirt and maybe a book.

My dad has asked for a turbo hot glue gun! In the past, I've also bought him a blade sharpener, gardening magazine subscription, birdhouse...

nancybotwinbloom · 15/11/2020 16:30

Some kitchen aid attachments - surprise for him
Nike t shirts
Socks
Aftershave

GooseWhiskers · 15/11/2020 16:31

An axe 😂

Champagneforeveryone · 15/11/2020 16:36

Airpods, Land Rover mug and socks and a Where's Wally type book with our dog in it instead.

He's likely to enjoy the book most Grin

Zixxy · 15/11/2020 16:36

Nothing. Sorry I know that sounds quite bah humbug, but there is no point in me buying him something for X pounds and he buying me something to approx same value. We are fortunate that we have everything we need (older than most here!).

Birthdays are different though. That's worth the thought, more because our birthdays are six months apart and it really is one on one for the day that's in it.

Sorry I have no suggestions. But enjoying reading all yours!

AgeLikeWine · 15/11/2020 16:38

We've agreed to give it a miss this year. We will enjoy some nice food & drink, obv, but in terms of gifts & socialising, Christmas is cancelled. Easier when you’re childfree, obv.

BritWifeinUSA · 15/11/2020 16:42

A sewing machine.

MsSquiz · 15/11/2020 16:49

I have bought DH:
Gin subscription
Boxers & Socks (every Christmas without fail)
Elemis toiletries
Aftershave
Sweatshirt
Gin sweets
Chocolates

From DD:
Ooni oven gloves, pizza oven shoes & pizza oven cover - he got his pizza oven at the end of September and is itching to use it, so he now has all the kit for when he can!

KaMai · 15/11/2020 16:54

We only buy silly/tokenish gifts between him and I so this year he has
Lego Christmas tree
Batman socks ('from' out 2 year old)
Marvel fluxx (a card game)
Reeses peanut butter chocolates

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 15/11/2020 16:59

We’ve been enjoying the Queens Gambit so I’ve bought him a vintage chess set with really cool Viking pieces and a lovely sculpted board.

He earns a lot more than I do, so he’s difficult to buy for, as anything he wants (PS5!) I can’t afford, and he’ll have bought himself before Xmas anyway.

He always seems happy enough that I’ve bought him anything, as his ex never did.

Kenworthington · 15/11/2020 17:08

A set of opinel knives in a personalized wooden case
A wooden spoon carving kit. I think he’ll enjoy sitting in the shed doing this.
A couple of long sleeve polo shirts- has no interest in buying clothes for himself so I do it
A book about local rugby team
Motorbike book
A wine ‘breather’ that you put in top of open bottle
A funny tshirt. I’m hoping he’ll only wear it in bed.
I think that’s it. I’m quite pleased with myself this year. He hasn’t asked for anything specifically

RonaRossi · 15/11/2020 17:22

Some stuff my dh is getting
(not all from me though)

A new waterproof coat
A ridiculously expensive hiking rucksack he wanted (but didn't expect to get)
A book about garden birds
Smart brown shoes
A beard trimmer
Downton Abbey cluedo 😂 (after being forced to watch the first 3 episodes he loved DA)
Local beer which he loves
An Amazon Echo

peaceanddove · 15/11/2020 17:31

A Paul Smith wallet. A Mr. Ben mug (his fact childhood character). A trio of framed Star Wars prints to go in his new office.
