Because this year my brain has turned to mush and Christmas seems like one big stress fest and I am desperate for some inspiration other than the normal smellies for mum and a Next jumper for dad!

My dad is getting a socket set as that’s what he’s finally decided he likes and I’m also doing him a gift of jams and honeys that he likes, probably also a bottle of whisky

For my mam no idea, she’s difficult to buy for and apparently doesn’t want anything, everything I’ve seen that I’m sure she would like is out of the budget,

DMIL is getting some wool, a nice local gin and a trip with her son and daughter next year when they can go on one

Carriemac · 14/11/2020 18:28

A ring doorbell and an echo show, they love gadgets and it’s great for security

EternalOptimist7 · 14/11/2020 18:32

Slippers for both ( asked for). They’re in their 80s. Dad plays golf so I often get him stuff for that. I usually get Mum an amaryllis. Oh & a calendar. Dad drinks whisky & red wine but his whisky lasts forever!

mummyh2016 · 14/11/2020 18:38

My moms asked for some perfume, will probably get her some earrings as well. My dad is really hard to buy for, I'm going to get him an ancestry dna kit. I had one last year and he found it really interesting.

Carriemac · 14/11/2020 18:38

Last year my mum absolutely liver a glasses cleaning cloth with a picture of all the grandchildren on it

GoldenPoppy · 14/11/2020 18:41

Personalised jigsaw with a photo of GC
A calendar
New slippers each
Silly 2020 xmas decoration!
Bottle of brandy

Nanny0gg · 14/11/2020 18:44

Ask them?

ED47 · 14/11/2020 18:48

I've got them a voucher for afternoon tea at a local restaurant. They've then got advent calendars (whisky and beauty) and a photo calendar of the grandchildren.

RelightMyPfizer · 14/11/2020 18:49

Mine are 80:

Chanel no 5
Longchamp Bag
5 bottles of whisky
Bottle of wine
Range of sweets/chocolates
Face masks
Family Christmas Pjs- we are all getting them- if locked down 20 pope and 5 pets will co-ordinate

I want to buy this for someone (me really but that seems a bit indulgent) and they have the largest house

They might get lucky

RelightMyPfizer · 14/11/2020 18:50

To clarify- cosmetic face masks not Cv19

belleface · 14/11/2020 18:54

Subscription from my lovely local bookshop. They get a book a month delivered for 6 months and they both love to read, plus they get a bag of coffee a couple of times during it

whattodo2019 · 14/11/2020 18:55

Pair of lamps with bespoke shades

CountFosco · 14/11/2020 18:59

No idea yet. Might get Mum and MIL perfume plus a calendar of photos of the kids (which I need to sort out). Ddad and FIL both dead.

IggyAce · 14/11/2020 19:00

Making them a mini Christmas cake and photo coasters. The dcs will probably chose biscuits or chocolate to give them. I’m doing low key gift giving, as they already have lots of stuff and buy anything they need or want.

SayakaMurata · 14/11/2020 19:01

Hampers from Fortnums.

Reesewithaspoon · 14/11/2020 19:47

@Nanny0gg

Ask them?
I just get a ‘Oh we’re fine we don’t need anything’
OP posts:
Postmanbear · 14/11/2020 19:51

We’ve bought both parents a pair of Austin roses before and that’s gone down really well.

DappledThings · 14/11/2020 19:52

I just get a ‘Oh we’re fine we don’t need anything
Which maybe is what they actually want if that's what they're saying.

UndertheCedartree · 14/11/2020 19:53

My parents live abroad so I can only send then something small. I have got them both a novel and Christmas chocolate bar/pack. I tied them up with red rafia and stuck a candy cane in. Hope they like them.

TheDowagerDuchess · 14/11/2020 19:55

Just got my Mum some really nice PJs from a site some friends introduced me to and matching dressing gown.

Not sure about my Dad yet!

TheDowagerDuchess · 14/11/2020 19:55

Not matching actually - co ordinating.

Holothane · 14/11/2020 19:56

Splodgetastic · 14/11/2020 19:59

A Bose mini speaker as DM has a tablet and my DF thinks it sounds rubbish listening to music on tablets. I know they have BBC sounds, so it should hopefully open up the music possibility to them and I will not be lost for the next idea: a Spotify or similar subscription.

Baileyscoffeeandcampfires · 14/11/2020 19:59
