Ok, so I am very pre-menstrual! But I sat in this morning waiting for the plumber to come (he'd said between 9 and 11am) He did a no show...but then sent a text at 11.45 saying he was running late (No shit!) and could he come later . I said no I had to go out. He then suggested Monday. I didnt reply since I was off to work. I've just got home and noticed he has texted me again, a question mark. This has given me (possiby) unreasonable amounts of rage. It seems like its ok for him to be too busy to come when he said he would. But its not ok for me to be too busy to reply within whatever timeframe he mysteriously has in his head! So:
Yes - YABU take a chill pill
No - YANBU up it goes

YANBU, unless he apologised for not fulfilling the original appointment.

LagneyandCasey · 13/11/2020 18:05

Shove it up there good and proper - no lube!

WTF1 · 13/11/2020 18:07

Possibly lube- but only so I can sprinkle and stick chilli powder to it first.

Oh yeah I'd be raging but depends how desperate I am for a plumber . If it's urgent and I can't get another round I may just be civil but be raging inside .

WTF1 · 13/11/2020 18:13

Do I reply tho?? If so what do I say? Im not desperate for his business, which just makes me crosser like hes doing me a favour!

Bluntness100 · 13/11/2020 18:20

I’d be annoyed but I’d not blame it on my hormones.

WTF1 · 13/11/2020 18:26

Bluntness100 Definitely not blaming my annoyance on hormones...but possibly the strength of irritation is being enhanced by them!

Sparklingbrook · 13/11/2020 18:31

I would be annoyed but plumbers are really difficult to get hold of around here so I would probably have to let him come around Monday anyway. Sad

rwalker · 13/11/2020 18:32

Problem is a lot of the time a job that would take an our could end up taking all morning if you run into complications.

He offered alternative and you ignored it not unreasonable to ask for a reply .

UnaCorda · 13/11/2020 18:34

Just a question mark on its own? Yes, very rude, in the circumstances.

kennelmaid · 13/11/2020 18:34

He was late because he had to pick up a part at the merchants - that can take three weeks, according to my plumber.

Comtesse · 13/11/2020 18:39

Plunger sounds reasonable - he sounds pretty cheeky. Texting a client a question mark indeed when he didn’t turn up as planned. Nope unless you are desperate.....

CatherineSanderson · 13/11/2020 18:41

New phone, who dis? Wink

ColumbiaAGroupie · 13/11/2020 18:45

If he works for a company then they are usually given 1-2 hour slots to complete a job and a lot of the time with plumbing work thing's go wrong, so I think you ABU. I do think he could have handled it better though.

rc22 · 13/11/2020 18:48

Depends how desperately you need a plumber and how easy it would be to find another one.

Itshissister · 13/11/2020 18:56

Some tradespeople are so entitled. I have people turn up late or not at all.

Nearly fainted when one plumber text me to say he was running late, he was very sorry and was this ok?

Not everyone can wait in all day!

This see,s to be on so many threads lately. It is stupid, immature, not funny or clever.
Wellpark · 13/11/2020 19:07

Text back a question mark and see what he replies with

FinallyHere · 13/11/2020 19:11

I get that jobs run over etc but that is no excuse for not letting you know in advance.

At the latest when he should have been setting off to get to you, he could have texted you to apologise and request reschedule.

I'd find someone else.

EKGEMS · 13/11/2020 19:12

Can you find an emoji for toilet or a plunger to text back or poo? 🙃

CrotchetyQuaver · 13/11/2020 19:13

How much do you need him to come and do whatever it is youve booked him for? If you can either fix it yourself or find a different more reliable plumber then go ahead and book a new one. Otherwise you need to phone/message him pretty quick and agree a new day time otherwise he'll think you've sacked him.

I can't bear unreliability.

GrinGrin The question was whether or not the OP should shove a plunger up the plumber’s arse, so forgive me if I didn’t treat the thread with the gravitas you felt it deserved Confused

flaviaritt · 13/11/2020 20:41

CatherineSanderson

😂

LaurieFairyCake · 13/11/2020 20:45

Do you need him more than he needs you?

If so, can you be there Monday?

If you don't and you can't then go with the plunger Grin

jemimafuddleduck · 13/11/2020 20:48

Urgh, I've had three plumbers do this one after the other. It's like they don't give a shit about customer service or my life or plans. Absolutely gave me the rage!
