Is it me? I know society as a whole is going to shit and MN isn't all fields anymore Wink, but today (and the last few days really) seems extraordinary even by anyone's standards.

Not TAATing but the OPs themselves are fine but then there are some totally fucking weird responses, as though they've read a completely different thread or just want to be a total twat because they can.

I know there are threads all the time as MN going to the dogs/not as funny as it was blah blah and I usually eye roll, but bloody hell it seems true atm.

Is it me? AIBU to think the level of fuckwittedness has risen dramatically very recently?

If anyone mentions the phrases be kind, penis beaker or mumsnet royalty in their replies i will have a little tantrum of my own btw Wink

This year probably has not been my finest, and certain topics do fire me up, as do many others.

I've always tried hard never to kick someone when they're down, and I try not not to bite at people unless they are a total insensitive berk.

I've never used the report button so much with all the vitriol there's been.

I miss the humour that's been driven out by the professionally offended over the past 5 years or so. There used to be a lot more silliness, and it didn't have to be flagged as "lighthearted"

lurker101 · 13/11/2020 10:51

I have a theory that there are bots using forums like mumsnet to turn public opinion/sway public opinion on certain topics, I find a lot of threads/posters that I suspect to be part of this

EatScrollSleepRepeat · 13/11/2020 10:53

It's really hard not to make this a TAATs isn't it! I myself have been deleted for calling someone an utter twat but in fairness they were being a twat by any standards, not just my opinion. I do find it hard to hit the report button without saying something now, which has changed.

@EatScrollSleepRepeat

Also. While you're here. Which sounds better - EatScrollSleepRepeat or EatSleepScrollRepeat? The second sounds better but it's not really in the right order is it.
How about ScrollEatSleepRepeat? Order and sound is right then...

Nothing sensible to add, though. Everyone is mad right now it seems...

ScrollEatSleepRepeat · 13/11/2020 10:59

It is me. Grin

NoSquirrels · 13/11/2020 11:08

SOCK PUPPET ALERT!!

Grin

Suits you!

SaskiaRembrandt · 13/11/2020 11:44

There's a thread at the moment on which people are suggesting that before the OP bought her house, she should have crept into the neighbours' gardens to check for treehouses.

AlexisIsMySpiritAnimal · 13/11/2020 11:45

DAMMIT. I thought we agreed Eat>Sleep>Scroll>Repeat.

I'm going to report you for not agreeing with my opinion that that was the better layout HmmHmmHmm

likethatbutcat · 13/11/2020 12:25

The vaccine ones I have seen are exhausting.

It is good news that there is a vaccine which could be available in the not too distant future, but within a few minutes of the announcement the furious nit-picking and "but what about meeeee?" started.

Nothing wrong with an informed discussion but the "informed" part is often notable by its absence.

NoSquirrels · 13/11/2020 12:35

People's level of comprehension and common sense seems to have dropped in direct correlation to the rise in self-centred opinionated posts. I think someone should make a graph like the lovely gov briefing ones, and present it on a powerpoint.

But not me. I am too lazy (self-centred and opinionated Grin)

Totally agree with this! I've been recommending Ben Elton's Identity Crisis as a very humorous way of showing how we are all being manipulated. I think he managed to get the message across better than The Social Dilemma. 🤷‍♀️

It's ridiculous isn't it?! Even when the Op has provided photos showing how overgrown it was before and how new looking the treehouse actually is. You can't argue with stupid though, as the last 4 years have proven with Trump!
Goingtogetflamed · 13/11/2020 13:23

Scroll eat sleep repeat.

Obviously. If you couldn’t figure that out you sound hard work op.
HTH.

CoronaBollox · 13/11/2020 13:27

Some people could start an argument in an empty room. Thankfully real life doesnt work like that, you get the odd arsehole but most have better manners/are sane and it stops them calling someone a vile, disgusting tramp because they dont shower twice a day, or whatever non issue is being discussed.

lurker101 · 13/11/2020 13:53

@bettytaghetti thanks, I’ll check it out! I can definitely see this being a case study not too far in the future, although I know that makes me sound like a conspiracy theorist 😂

Did you mean to be so rude? Wink

(I actually hate that phrase, it's just fucking stupid as the answer is always clearly yes so just tell them anyway!)

I haven't seen the treehouse thread. Do I need to? I think I probably do Grin

nancybotwinbloom · 13/11/2020 17:08

nancybotwinbloom · 13/11/2020 18:00

Thanks @PizzzaExpressWoking

PizzzaExpressWoking · 13/11/2020 18:25

You're welcome.
I thought it was going to be a thread about people bringing their pet rats to public places!

NoSquirrels · 13/11/2020 23:26

Batshit Treehouse thread

ScrollEatSleepRepeat · 14/11/2020 13:21

Bloody hell. I've only only read up to Thursday afternoon's posts on the Treehouse thread. I just know it's going to get even better Grin

I have decided to stick to the Litter Tray, S & B, FWR and the Christmas bargains thread from now on.

Does anyone remember when we didn't even have AIBU as a topic? I remember thinking it was a good idea when they made a category for it how wrong we all were
