Why the fuck are there so many batshit posts today?

Is it me? I know society as a whole is going to shit and MN isn't all fields anymore , but today (and the last few days really) seems extraordinary even by anyone's standards.

Not TAATing but the OPs themselves are fine but then there are some totally fucking weird responses, as though they've read a completely different thread or just want to be a total twat because they can.

I know there are threads all the time as MN going to the dogs/not as funny as it was blah blah and I usually eye roll, but bloody hell it seems true atm.

Is it me? AIBU to think the level of fuckwittedness has risen dramatically very recently?

If anyone mentions the phrases be kind, penis beaker or mumsnet royalty in their replies i will have a little tantrum of my own btw

“You sound irrational”
“You sound unhinged”
“You sound jealous”
“You sound immature”

You just know that the poster either hasn’t read the OP and is just trying to derail or they have read it but clearly lack reading comprehension.

It’s always so odd to read when all other posters agree with the OP and then suddenly you get a random “you sound immature”.

And yes, you also start to recognise names of those who do this...

Yes also agree there are definitely a few posters around who just want to be controversial by saying something fucking stupid out of the ordinary or contrary. Attention seeking isn't it? It's not so much those posters as they have always existed and are easy to spot - . I think they have started to be infectious perhaps?

Like the Tesco thread where the op said she had to throw everything away a load of her shopping cos it had expiry dates of tomorrow and couldn’t fathom eating the things that were going to expire, today, or freeze it. Then it was backed up by another poster saying she didn’t believe in freezing stuff

And I feel like posting it on every single thread where people are either trolling, stirring/goading or just plain fucking stupid.

I’ve had a couple of threads lately where the thread is killed by twats. You cannot have a decent conversation.
I do think this is a reflection of life atm though. All my neighbours are up in everyone else’s business gossiping and generally being unpleasant.
The sooner life gets back to normal the better.

Oh and to someone saying they are suffering with anxiety you helpfully reply "grow up!" And that's just the first couple I looked at.

If you aren't trolling for reactions people will take from your posts that you are just a very unpleasant nasty individual.

I don't believe for one second you don't know the definition of troll and I suggest people report posts like yours I have mentioned above as if they're unchallenged unpleasant people will just hang around being cunts and flying slightly under the radar.

Yes! Even in S&B! An OP asked about a slogan ‘mum of boys’ type jumper and some posters were viscous about it. The OP had just given birth and had a difficult labour, losing a lot of blood. But even after this was pointed out some posters still felt the need to plough on. The OP didn’t come back, unsurprisingly.

Do you think it's because (and I'm not talking from personal experience, absolutely not ) people have more time to spend on MN if they're furloughed/DC back at school etc? I know the last couple of weeks things have been back to some of kind of normal in my house - school/college/uni/work for everyone else and I'm a bit bored and lonely in the day. Definitely spending more time on MN as I have no money left to buy random shit online

Also I think a lot of similar threads are repeated - this very thread being a good example but I mean more the fucking bastard mask threads, or can I visit my DD or do you think we will be able to see family this Christmas and why can't I have the vaccine first - just people see them again and again and think for fucks sake and post in a knobby exasperated fashion? Or people have strongly held views (especially on fucking masks) and end up being dogmatic and trying to shout the loudest?

I fucking love MN, I have been here years and got so much out of it in terms of laughs and support (and winning the odd competition) . It really saddens me to see it being taken over by knobs as well as annoying me on a personal level. Plus I feel bad for people posting for support and getting unnecessarily rude responses.
