to think that men's underwear is way more comfortable than women's?

My first AIBU post but felt I had to share my accidental discovery!

I am at my bf's place and realised on getting ready this morning that I had forgotten to bring any clean underwear with me. I didn't want to go commando as am wearing jeans (ouch the chaffe) so he suggested I wear a pair of his.

I scoffed at this but then realised i don't really have any alternative other than to put dirty undies back on (euw) so I put a pair of his close fitting trunks on and on my lord, they are so comfy!

They don't look attractive in the slightest but they come up to my belly button and I haven't had a single need to retrieve wandering fabric from anywhere it shouldn't be. It's a revelation and I'm not sure I'll ever go back...Grin

Men's everything is more comfortable and practical, imo.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 11/11/2020 11:23

You can buy similar. I really enjoy bodyshorts (or whatever is it called now) from more natural so breathable materials.

LethargicLumpOfLockdownLard · 11/11/2020 11:24

I've actually never tried, but that does sound comfy.
Penis privalidge, bit like pockets even in your pyjamas.

Ultimatecougar · 11/11/2020 11:25

I can recommend boys underwear. If you are smaller than about a size 14 you will find boys underwear will probably fit you and it's VAT free.

SandyY2K · 11/11/2020 11:25

There is very comfortable women's underwear as well. It depends on what you chose and where you buy it from, as well as for much you pay.

KihoBebiluPute · 11/11/2020 11:25

Full Briefs (womens) from M&S use about 3 times more fabric than more "normal" womens undies and are a lot more comfy.

Dugsbollox · 11/11/2020 11:28

I will second the M&S full brief! No wedgies here Grin

Mypathtriedtokillme · 11/11/2020 11:29

It was suggested when I was pregnant with my oldest. So comfortable.

I like the tight mid thigh trunky ones under dresses.
Found some bamboo ones the other day which had panels on the inner thigh to stop thigh chafe. Amazing!

SchrodingersImmigrant · 11/11/2020 11:37

Note the price differences btw. Basic woman's underwear is considerably cheaper than man's one. I agree with @sandyY2K it depeneds on where you buy and how much you spend.

OneTC · 11/11/2020 11:58

Cheap shit underwear is cheap shit underwear

Sloggi and bonds make excellent comfortable functional women's underwear but it's priced like decent quality men's stuff

Mypathtriedtokillme · 11/11/2020 12:04

Bonds is shit now.

They used to be so much better quality.
Fabric is thinner and the elastic gives up the ghost quicker.

I'm wearing a pair of Primark finest, I only know that because I remember putting them on. I can't feel them. I think it's the "sexy" pants, like thongs that are uncomfortable because they're designed by men for men (to look at not wear a!though....) and very little thought is put into how comfortable they are

Fallsballs · 11/11/2020 12:12

Have you not seen shorts/low rise/high rise etc for women that are around now ?

badacorn · 11/11/2020 12:14

Try men’s pajamas. Much better.

Pyewhacket · 11/11/2020 12:16

OMG, school sports knickers. I'm sure you can still get them.

MsVestibule · 11/11/2020 12:16

I had to wear a pair of DH's briefs a while ago and they were SO comfortable. I normally buy bikini pants from M&S but think I might have to look into Sloggi's. I'm beginning to understand why my mum wears such big knickers 🙈.

Pyewhacket · 11/11/2020 12:18

I don't really agree. Women buy those silly pants if there wasn't a demand they wouldn't sell them. It wouldn't be the first time men's clothes are more comfortable and more practical and often cheaper.
WitchesSpelleas · 11/11/2020 12:21

If you think that, why not buy and wear men's underwear instead?

Personally I find plain cotton women's pants (supermarket/M&S) fine. I wonder if you are either buying styles that prioritise sexiness over comfort, or buying a size too small.

unicornparty · 11/11/2020 12:28

I've never had any women's underwear feel uncomfortable. Are you wearing the correct size?

CaptainMyCaptain · 11/11/2020 12:30

True. I make my own pants now - so comfy.
Yesyoudoknowme · 11/11/2020 12:36

I have a few pairs of men's jersey boxers - they are so soft! and don't chafe your groin like some women's do when the elastic gets worn. I do worry what would happen if I was in an accident - they may be clean but what would the ambulance men think.. Hmm

PeggyPorschen · 11/11/2020 12:44

YABU

I am always puzzled by people who buy and wear uncomfortable clothes Confused

You can buy anything you want, but there's no need to go in the man section to get shorts or briefs. I wear women underwear even when I exercise, definitively not uncomfortable.

My pjs are perfectly comfy too.

I have boobs that most men don't have, so women' clothes tend to fit better and be more comfy on me than men's clothes. DH'stuff is just big, not specially comfy.

LaurieFairyCake · 11/11/2020 12:58

These look just like women's fancier Sloggi types with a proper waistband

3 for £10 in M and S boys

Calligraphy572 · 11/11/2020 13:01

Men's pyjamas bottoms are fabulous. Pockets!!
