Filmed in my locality , don't know what they are trying to do with the accents but they are terrible

Mayzee · 11/11/2020 10:08

Oh it’s brutal - and the Irishman has the worst Irish accent begod 😂

Member984815 · 11/11/2020 10:09

I do love foil arms and hog 🤣🤣🤣🤣

TerribleCustomerCervix · 11/11/2020 10:10

I have so many questions.

When is it set?
Where is it set?
What Irish person says “T’was he that kissed me”?
Where is the comedy if it’s a romantic comedy?

Orangesarenottheonlyfruit · 11/11/2020 10:11

That is hilarious Bellini! I do love F, A and H.

Member984815 · 11/11/2020 10:11

Begosh and begorrah also we do not dress like that in the west of Ireland , when I saw the first clips I thought is it set in the 40s then she said she could freeze her eggs 🤣

TerribleCustomerCervix · 11/11/2020 10:13

Finally a film set in Ireland that surpasses Leap Year in terms of shite accents and stereotypes.

V disappointed in Jamie Dornan, he should know better.

bellinisurge · 11/11/2020 10:14

You'd at least think Jamie Dornan would have a go at a decent accent

I stopped watching the trailer when the bloody fiddle music started. But then I am the woman caused some upset by asking a barman in Galway centre were there any pubs that did not have trad bands all night.

I am very bad at being Irish Grin

TerribleCustomerCervix · 11/11/2020 10:22

He’s from Belfast, as am I, and the gruff Northern accent doesn’t let itself well to the lilting tones of west of Ireland.

He should still have known he wasn’t cutting it though.

Member984815 · 11/11/2020 10:23

One of our locals has trad session one day a week , it's on a weekday though so only the the die hard trad fans are at it , I prefer the buskers in Galway one night I was out and a busker was singing just ride by lana del ray he was excellent. Had a great night in the quays after the races band called the jabronis and not a trad tune in sight @katiepoes

BrumBoo · 11/11/2020 10:26

I love A F and H! This is my favourite of theirs

Katiepoes · 11/11/2020 10:28

Must remember that Member, the night we eere there the Quays had what appeared to be half of the world's population of Italian students in so we skipped. Although I'd love to have the choice of passing a pub these days (cue maudlin' fiddles Grin )

Re FA & H though - I've seen the live several times in Vicar Street, everyone should go see them live, they are fantastic. If we are ever to see live gigs again that is....(see fiddles)

ReallySpicyCurry · 11/11/2020 10:28

Oh my God I'm pure dying at that Grin

bellinisurge · 11/11/2020 10:30

@BrumBoo that is a brilliant one. They've been producing sketches every Thursday throughout lockdown (they do it anyway but they've had to be particularly creative).
Absolutely worth a look for anyone who has never seen them and needs a laugh.

I went to Galway once and I got the bus from Belfast Europa because I'm an idiot. It took seven hours. I had to get them to stop the bus so I could pee in Armagh and also by the side of a cowshed in Sligo.

I got the train on the way back.

Sweetmotherofallthatisholyabov · 11/11/2020 10:36

It's like oh - set in the past graaaaaaand. "I'll freeze my eggs".....oh, maybe not the past Hmm
I think they're aiming for more midlands than west, there's a touch of Maura Higgens to Emily Blunts accent. I also didn't see the problem with Christopher walken for ages.... because I didn't realise it was an Irish accent for a while.

Nara2k · 11/11/2020 10:38

I was in really bad form this morning & dh showed me this. I actually cried laughing, it was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. I think I may save it to my phone so i always have it to hand...
Mayo looks well if nothing else :/ I'm from that general area, not that I'm going to get back any time soon under current conditions Sad

bellinisurge · 11/11/2020 11:09

Hope you are doing ok @Nara2k . Glad it gave you a laugh.

Ah I'm grand really @bellinisurge - thanks for asking! Hump day & an anniversary of an unhappy event

Tillthesuncomesup · 11/11/2020 12:18

Read a funny quote on Twitter about it ‘Jamie dornan is an Irishman playing an American playing an Irish man!!

It’s hilariously bad. Why is she dressed in such old clothing? Apparently it’s set in 2005. As someone growing up on an Irish farm at that time I wore jeans and tops and cardigans and all the local lads wore superdry or diesel coats 😂😂😂 definitely didn’t speak like that ‘we’ve been known to each other for a long time’ ‘twas him that kissed me’

Poor Americans must be so disappointed when they come to Ireland!

Still going to watch it though....

Gilead · 11/11/2020 12:23

Brilliant! Never come across them but will look for more.

Mayzee · 11/11/2020 12:25

Apparently it’s set ‘near’ Mullingar and yet features the cliffs of MoherGrin I will also watch it so I can do my favourite thing of giving out to the tv while watching shite 😂

unfortunateevents · 11/11/2020 12:30

Brilliant! I laughed out loud when a bit of Sean O Riada popped up in the middle!

unfortunateevents · 11/11/2020 12:33

OMG, have just looked at the trailer for that movie - what the hell is going on?! As someone else said - so many questions. Who on earth funded that pile of shite? And how did actual stars end up in it?
