incase it gets on the babies designer clothes.

Perfectly reasonable? (YANBU)
Totally unreasonable? (YABU)

[Not about me, just something I have just seen!]

Who is this family and can they send me some Monday because my poverty stricken arse just geared up at the fact they threw out of blanket for getting poo on it.

If my DD shits on a blanket I get the white vinegar out.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 08/11/2020 20:36

Well I insist my nanny DOES wear lipstick, even though he (sic) isn't that fond of it and I always take care to ensure my suit is pristine before I go to work in the City.

movingonup20 · 08/11/2020 20:38

I've heard of nanny's banned from wearing perfume before, even one that was given a uniform, thought that was mighty weird. So no lipstick isn't odd but the reason is, I wouldn't want it to get on the baby's skin

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 08/11/2020 20:46

If they’re paying the nanny a lot, then I’d go along with it 🤷‍♀️
If not, then it’s no point in working for such fussy people if there’s no benefit to it.

Rosehip10 · 08/11/2020 21:09

designer clothes are vulgar - especially so for babies/children

wigglerose · 08/11/2020 21:12

How often to nannies kiss the babies they look after?

NeonGenesis · 08/11/2020 21:15

I hate it when people cuddling/carrying my baby wear very heavy perfume, because it gets all over my baby and bloody stinks. Gives me a headache. So if I had a Nanny (I can dream, can't I? Lol) I would probably ask them not to wear perfume or aftershave. I wouldnt give a toss about make up, though, so long as they aren't writing "fuck" on their forehead in eyeliner or anything else like that...

MitziK · 08/11/2020 21:30

@Sparklesocks

So baby clothes can get vomit/spit/food/milk on them but not Lippy? Grin
You can get those all out with a wash at 30.

Some lipsticks - no chance, not ever.

Zixxy · 08/11/2020 21:42

No kids here, and likely none will arrive. It is all too complicated, and the planet needs fewer people anyway.

But I like lipstick just the same.

Sayonara.

mumwon · 08/11/2020 21:43

dd dribble (she dribbled a LOT)permanently stained everything no soaking scrubbing or washing would get it out - lipstick it easy to get out (from my limited experience Grin) in comparison.

Shaniac · 08/11/2020 21:46

Sounds like one of them shit chanel 5 shows

Sparklesocks · 08/11/2020 23:05

@MitziK meh. I’ve always managed fine 💁🏻‍♀️

HOkieCOkie · 08/11/2020 23:09

I personally don’t wear makeup at work (nanny)

Hope4theBestPlan4theWorst · 08/11/2020 23:10

I was a nanny years ago the family I worked for were loaded and didn't cate what i wore and if anything got trashed it went in the bin - end of

I got to go on some lovely holidays and the only slightly odd request was from the mother to help her interview the housekeeper as she trusted my judgement and one year on the little boys birthday I organised a dinosaur party with dinosaurs walking around in the natural history museum and she paid staff to wear these huge costumes but it was a very enjoyable experience

MitziK · 08/11/2020 23:11

Maybe it's because I tended to buy very highly pigmented, vintage style ones and the extended wear types?

@Heatherjayne1972

The nanny who looks after the royal Cambridge children isn’t allowed make up. (Or a personal life)
Which one? They have at least 2 nannies nannies rumoured to have had 3 at one point.
GreenClock · 08/11/2020 23:33

Wear what you want on your face within reason, would be my advice to the nanny. It’s your face! It’s not the 1920s, your “betters” can’t tell you not to wear lipstick.

justasking111 · 08/11/2020 23:43

The colour of the norland nannies uniform is absolutely vile.

BumbleFlump · 08/11/2020 23:45

Surely a nanny can wear what they like as long as it's practical enough for the job. Kids should also be in practical clothes that they can play and get messy in. Lipstick is neither here nor there.

I would think that a nanny being dictated to in that manner re lipstick etc has a controlling and potentially abusive employer

BumbleFlump · 08/11/2020 23:48

Are Norland Nannies allowed make-up?

FantasticRik1 · 08/11/2020 23:59

If I was a nanny I’m sure the family would want me to wear at least a little bit of make up.
I look so ghastly without it that I scare small children.

BeaMends · 09/11/2020 00:04

There's a whole new lot of daftness in the world every day. And this is today's.

Coyoacan · 09/11/2020 00:29

I wouldn't mistreat anyone, but I particularly wouldn't mistreat anyone I was asking to look after a child of mine.

Germolenequeen · 09/11/2020 00:34

Palm the Norland Robots off on people like that

I'm a Norland Nanny (qualified in 1982 when it was still proper hands on 24/7 residential training) & I fucking object to being called a robot - and no we weren't allowed to wear lipstick when in uniform
