incase it gets on the babies designer clothes.

Perfectly reasonable? (YANBU)
Totally unreasonable? (YABU)

[Not about me, just something I have just seen!]

@namesnamesnamesnames

If I say yes it is an admission that I am watching it, but maybe.

I hate this attitude towards ‘staff’, and actually, in a domestic setting, I hate that term too.

timeforawine · 08/11/2020 19:43

This from yummy mummies GrinI got hooked on that show, she did have some bonkers requests. She's pregnant with number 2 now.

Mooey89 · 08/11/2020 19:45

Bloody love yummy mummies. That baby shower! 😱😱😱

Buddytheelf85 · 08/11/2020 19:47

Oh I’ve just seen it was a TV show Grin in that case the family in question are almost certainly bonkers.

But to be completely fair I think quite a lot of nurseries don’t allow staff to wear heavy make up or lots of jewellery. For safety reasons obvs, not in case it gets on the children’s clothes.

Whatwouldscullydo · 08/11/2020 19:49

I think its bonkers to buy designer baby clothes anyway. Lipstick would just be something else in The long list of stuff to worry about.

I had 3 rules for my babies. Buy supermarket stuff, second hand/hand me downs, and don't buy white ( unless part of the second hand stuff ) Grin

If they can afford a nanny and designer clothing they can afford to clean the bloody outfit

S111n20 · 08/11/2020 19:49

Oh to have a nanny.. oh to have designer clothes... oh to have a lipstick the kids hadn’t ruined. I live a totally different life 😂😂😂

Pandamanium · 08/11/2020 19:49

I got hooked on that show

Honestly, I have to keep watching just to see if it can become any more ludicrous.

The baby shower, the push presents, the interstate bitch fest...

Not allowing make up (lipstick or otherwise) is totally unreasonable but I HATE people wearing perfume/aftershave around my children. FIL is the worst, he wears a very strong distinctive aftershave and both my children reek of it for the rest of the day after they've given him a hug.

TheyreComingToGetYouBarbara · 08/11/2020 19:52

Designer clothes for a baby? Stupid waste of money.

But honestly, do nannies usually wear much makeup? If I were taking care of a baby, I'd probably want to keep my face as clean as possible to avoid smudged makeup and to prevent him from getting makeup on his hands if/when he reached for my face.

Pixiedust49 · 08/11/2020 19:53

@PurBal

I don't know any nannies that wear a dark lipstick at work...
I don’t know any nannies 🤨
rainkeepsfallingdown · 08/11/2020 19:55

How does lipstick get on baby clothes?

tmh88 · 08/11/2020 20:02

I think I watched this! Was it on Netflix called something mummy’s?! Like a group of 3 best friends and this designer obsessed one was like the newbie to the group?! She was not normal at all by the way if I’m remember correctly!

tmh88 · 08/11/2020 20:03

Just seen the update! Yes she was something else!

Gwenhwyfar · 08/11/2020 20:08

"
Our nursery doesn't allow nail varnish, lipstick or jewellery for H&S reasons. Maybe it's clouding my judgement."

Jewellery I can understand, but I don't see the health and safety justification for banning nail varnish and lipstick.

timeforawine · 08/11/2020 20:10

You should see her instagram, everything is still as OTT as it was on the show. The little girl is beautiful

eddiemairswife · 08/11/2020 20:11

If the Cambridges' nanny isn't allowed to wear make-up I assume the Cambridges' mummy doesn't either.

namechange7438 · 08/11/2020 20:16

I've just put this on now to see what you're all on about...... If I'm still watching it at midnight I hold you all responsible 😂

Pandamanium · 08/11/2020 20:17

@namechange7438 I am so sorry. warning there are two series and I have binged on series one whilst trying to study all day.

I'm a nanny and I wear make-up. I don't have very good skin and like to wear my bareminerals powder to make my complexion look better - so then need a bit of blusher to stop my face looking flat. My eyes are small and look a lot better with a bit of eyeshadow and mascara. I just wear a bit of lip gloss to finish the look. It's quite an 'unmade up' look, not a full on night out look, but helps me to feel a bit better about myself as I see the parents, other nannies, parents and teachers on the school run, shop assistants, library staff and toddler group leaders - so quite a lot of people.

ellenpartridge · 08/11/2020 20:27

This was totally fake and made up for the show if you're talking about Maria from Yummy Mummies.

Pandamanium · 08/11/2020 20:28

Really? Was everything else as well? Were all the designer clothes fake too?

OP posts:
namechange7438 · 08/11/2020 20:32

My god.... Maria is awful. Her stuff must be scripted?! Surely.

Sadly I'm still watching. Step forward my new addiction lmfao.
