To think Trump could be president again in 2024?

Don't get me wrong I am delighted we don't have another 4 years of the orange toddler to put up with. But since he's only served 4 years can he run again to serve another 4?

He lost but he still had a hell of a lot of votes. He still has a lot of very dedicated supporters. What if Joe Biden at 82 decides not to run again in 2424 and Kamala runs instead and Trump is able to stir up the divisive politics that got him in first time again?? Has this occurred to anyone else? Shudder

I doubt the republican party would touch another trump with a barge pole after the way he's been acting recently.

@thecatsthecats

I doubt he'd get the nomination, unless I guess he threatened to run as independent.

Both parties can't rest on this - they need to get strong candidates building momentum more or less now.

If he were to run as in Independent it would ensure defeat for the Reps as it would split their vote. Before we write him off for 2024 remember he polled almost half the votes so not everyone hates him, he will still have solid support in many areas.

Richard Osman said the other day that Trump could step down, allow Pence in. Pence as president, could then wipe out Trumps criminal record.

The Presidential pardon is only for Federal offences. It doesn't stop individual states from prosecuting someone in their jurisdiction.

He wasn't by any means squeaky-clean in his dealings in New York. The SDNY (Southern District of New York) are the ones who for the past couple of years have been looking hard at his taxes, just waiting for him to be out of office to get going. They have Michael Cohen's testimony on oath that he conspired with "Individual 1", ie Trump, to defraud the revenue, and that makes it pretty-much open and shut as such cases go. Then there is bribery, also admitting in court under oath by Cohen; and rape and sexual assault don't have to be federal crimes. Nor does libel or defamation, and there are State cases against him for both of those waiting in the wings.

Meanwhile his creditors are circling, with Deutsche Bank keen to get back the £413 million he owes them, and the others standing behind them. He may not have much left to pay lawyers to act in his defence, and seeing that everyone now knows that he is a six-times-bankrupt who is living in debt he may have trouble finding anyone to lend to him any more: most American banks stopped wanting anything to do with him at least ten years back.

I think he may be a bit busy for a while.

$413 million, not £. Sorry.

He's behaved appallingly since the election I doubt any party want anything to do with him now tbh

No because he has to win the republican nomination.

The republicans fall into three main camps. The capitalists, the religious and the far right racist types.

Those who are trump fanatics tend to fall into the third category.

The other two dislike him but tolerate him because hes served their agenda. But he a) became too much of a loose canon for them b) got the majority on the supreme court.

Many will believe that a candidate who isn't so crazy can beat the democrats next election for a number of reasons. The democrat vote only was motivated by an anti trump sentiment and some soft conservatives rebelling against trump.

They will fancy their chances and not want a repeat of the trump show.
