To go on a self catering break in wales in 2 weeks time?

Would you go? It is within the rules.

If the law says you can go, go.

Why wouldn't you?

ZenNudist · 06/11/2020 08:34

Go! It's fine.

@RaspberryCoulis

I've noticed throughout the pandemic that large numbers of posters seem to give more weight to the opinion of the court of MN rather than the actual rules or law, so many threads asking what everyone else would do.

Lockdown has removed the ability to think it sometimes appears.

Lockdown has removed the ability to think it sometimes appears.

I agree but I think it goes deeper than that. I think people have seen endless threads since March condemning people who do things which aren't against the law, but against the MN (or whatever forum) ROOLZ. A friend told me there's a guy in their village who during the April lockdown was timing people leaving their houses and would harangue them in the street if they had been out longer than an hour. (It never was the law, but he had decided it was the ROOLZ and had no hesitation in telling them).

I think a lot of people saying "can I do X or Y" are actually saying "If I go on holiday, what's the likelihood of being confronted by a covid-monitor who will make me feel uncomfortable"? And that's fine, most of us hate confrontation and want to avoid that sort of thing at all costs.

@Apricotta

It is NOT within the rules, England rules and Wales. Get a grip.
It is allowed for people within Wales to travel within Wales after Nov 9th when this lockdown ends.

Whether it is a wise thing to do is debatable though!!!

MaskingForIt · 06/11/2020 12:11

@BrumBoo

Is it? Where are you going from, I'm pretty sure if you're under English lockdown then it's not ok to leave your area and you'll very likely be turned away from the border.
Turned away from the border by whom?! There aren’t police check points on every road into Wales 😂

@ExCwmbranDweller

for gods sake DON'T take the entire family and stand in the middle of the aisle looking confused because the layout is different to home

Oh, you've been in Aberystwyth Morrisons in the summer too?

Viv0321 · 07/11/2020 10:25

Why is it debatable?

This thread would’ve been much shorter if you’d put all the relevant decision-making information in the first post, OP.

From Caernafon to Tenby tourists clog the aisles of Tesco and Morrisons alike here on the West coast Grin

Boulshired · 07/11/2020 16:30

I wouldn’t book anything till last minute, who knows what the rules would be in two weeks.

Allthedoggos · 07/11/2020 16:51

You'll be fine OP. We are in Wales, planning a short break in a different part of Wales in a few weeks. I haven't left our home town in 6 months and I really need a change of scenery. We are staying in the middle of nowhere self catering, will take all our food with us and the only places we will go will be deserted mountains and beaches.

We are in a middling area infection wise, but I wfh and DH is unemployed atm, we have followed all the rules from day 1 (and more), the only place either of us goes is the supermarket once a week so I figure we are unlikely to be much of a risk to other people (especially as we won't see any!).

It's the kind of thing someone on a wind up would do.
Jellykat · 07/11/2020 20:05

If you're in a low figure area then come, as we (Pembs) are too..
The general worry here is if we get residents from the likes of Merthyr/ Cardiff etc coming for a break.

Viv0321 · 08/11/2020 13:57

Is anyone actually going?
