To go on a self catering break in wales in 2 weeks time?

Would you go? It is within the rules.

There are quite a few places within Wales with increasing stats, so if you’re from a high stat area, going to a low stat area, you could become a super spreader. If you’re from a low stat area going to a high stat area, you could become a super spreader. Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. I also believe Mark Drakeford said something along the lines of, people shouldn’t be spending their time trying to figure out ways to bend the rules. It’s crap right now, there’s no denying we could all do with a break, but if we can hang tight for a little longer we can all enjoy a much more sociable Christmas 🤞🤞🤞

Dogscanteatonions · 05/11/2020 18:03

Where are you coming from and going to?

Aparttogether · 05/11/2020 18:05

Which part of Wales?

Viv0321 · 05/11/2020 21:30

Pembrokeshire

It is NOT within the rules, England rules and Wales. Get a grip.

MinnieMountain · 05/11/2020 21:32

And you’re from?

MinnieMountain · 05/11/2020 21:34

Which part of Wales I mean.

Incrediblehulky · 05/11/2020 21:34

Yes of course. There are no travel restrictions within wales when our 'firebreak' ends. Have a nice time 😊

Readysetcake · 05/11/2020 21:38

I live in wales and plan to go on a three night trip with DH in two weeks (as long as we are symptom free). Drakeford said it was allowed and we plan to do a big shop and stay in bed or by the fire for three days with the odd isolated walk thrown in.

It’s absolutely fine, go and grab some enjoyment while you can!

Muchtoomuchtodo · 05/11/2020 21:42

If you live in an area of Wales you can holiday with it Wales. If you’re from an area with a low rate (I’m not sure if you‘re from Pembrokeshire or planning to go to Pembrokeshire) then I would holiday in another area with a low rate.

Enjoy it. I’m jealous (in Wales too but no £’s or time off to holiday!)

Viv0321 · 05/11/2020 21:42

We’d be from a low rate area in wales.

I'd go - if its self catering you don't need to have much contact with anyone.
When I stayed in a self catering cottage earlier in the year, additional covid precautions in place (always very clean anyway, but no unnecessary stuff like ornaments, books, pamphlets,,,)

LindaEllen · 05/11/2020 21:50

With holidays, I'm of the opinion that just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

At the end of the day it's up to you, and it's clearly allowed within your rules. But given the way things are, I would be sticking to essential things only, even if I was technically allowed to go.

I can't understand for the life of me why people are going abroad on planes right now.

apricotta OP has clarified they live in Wales. Once the firebreak ends next week it’s absolutely within the rules to travel within wales.

Whether that’s wise in some cases is debatable (Merthyr, RCT, etc) but it’s definitely allowed.

funnylittlefloozie · 06/11/2020 07:47

I say go for it. I'm on holiday in England at the moment, in a s/c cottage. Just knowing that you're on holiday is a blissful lift to the spirit.

borageforager · 06/11/2020 07:52

funnylittlefloozie now that is against the rules. How have you got around that?

funnylittlefloozie · 06/11/2020 07:56

Its not actually against the rules, borage. We were away before lockdown was imposed, and we checked with the cottage company who confirmed that we were able to stay until the end of the booked holiday. Basically, the guidance says, you cant start a new holiday, but if you're already on holiday, you can finish that one.

Orkneys · 06/11/2020 08:19

If you live in Wales why would you holiday in Wales not much of a holiday is it Confused

Mintychoc1 · 06/11/2020 08:21

I’m confused. If it’s allowed where you are, and you want to go, then what is the issue? Just go.

justicedanceson · 06/11/2020 08:23

I would absolutely go if I was in your shoes as a welsh resident going to a Welsh holiday home. When we were allowed to go on holiday in England most people I know went on short breaks to other bits of England (pre tiers confusion).

It’s legally allowed and low risk, why not?!

You can't mean that, you dont really think that you can't go on holiday in your own country do you?

There are some oddballs on here alright

How big do you think Wales is? It’s not the size of Rutland!

If you eg live in Cardiff, Snowdonia would be a holiday - or indeed vice versa. I agree though, I don't think of holidays in England as holidays, although if I went to Wales or Scotland I would. I think I need to cross a "national" border to feel like I am actually going somewhere (or cross water, so the Channel Islands are also a very good option).

I am not keen on self-catering either, but it's all swings and roundabouts. If you are going from a low risk area to another low risk area it sounds like it would be fine.
