Without all the usual Christmas threads
I mean....what will people find to moan about Wink

Don't worry OP, there will be loads of:

AIBU to be upset that my 90 year old Granny, who hasn't got internet and doesn't know how a computer works, didn't bother to go on line and buy my children the massive, expensive presents she should have done and just sent a paltry sum of money in a card instead

The grabby masses will be out in force and will brook no excuses about people shielding, unable to access shops or internet, or being concerned about their own finances.

There will also be ructions about not getting the thrice boiled, drizzled by the hand of angels with goose fat roast potatoes and sundry other essential Christmas food items.

Zandathepanda · 01/11/2020 12:40

Santa and the elves are self isolating until Christmas so you don’t have to worry about presents. Unless reindeers can pass it on...

BronwenFrideswide · 01/11/2020 12:40

@Hobnobswantshernameback

Oh lord There's a whole world of "my neighbour popped a Xmas card through my letterbox...is she trying to murder me with covid...does she not know there's a pandemic going on" Type threads just waiting to explode Grin
Grin you've called it!
Hobnobswantshernameback · 01/11/2020 12:42

It'll become a worse version of the competitive frugal mumsnet christmas
"I've spent Christmas a thousand miles from
Anyone and spent 2p and ate half a parsnip and a quarter pig in blanket by the light of a single fairy light and still had an amazing time"

OP posts:
PhilSwagielka · 01/11/2020 12:45

Mumsnet will be fine, there are going to be a bajillion lockdown/Brexit/Remembrance Day threads.

WankPuffins · 01/11/2020 12:45

Oh Christ it will be worse than ever.

All the handwringiners and curtain twitchers will be in their element.

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 01/11/2020 12:47

There's always parking

And toilet brushes .....

Hobnobswantshernameback · 01/11/2020 12:48

The competitive misery threads will be stratospheric
The out miserying competitive quarantiners will be utterly in their element Grin

Is that naivety or a challenge?!!!

This year will be the mother of all moany christmassy.

The local lockdown christmas v no lockdown christmas moan.
The no restrictions v the full lockdown argument moan
The 'selfishly flaunting christmas' moan
The competitive 'I've the hardest christmas in the whole land christmas' moan
The 'guess who turned up on my doorstep uninvited anyway moan
The zoom family meltdown moan
The christmas is ruined because x, y and z didn't get delivered in time moan (x 56373365 times)

Rafflesway · 01/11/2020 12:51

Well if Christmas is effectively cancelled, I for one will be most aggrieved.

My highlights on Christmas morning are the "Horrendous Christmas gift" threads and then Boxing Day the visiting family and being half starved posts due to minute portions/lack of food generally. 😂😂😂

Seriously, I know it's bloody awful for those involved but hilarious to read. (Been there/done that so know exactly what it is like.)

If there are none of these at Christmas then I will throw a serious strop - definitely no shrivelling and dying. Wink

Disappointedkoala · 01/11/2020 12:51

"my MIL sent me an expensive cashmere jumper but she did have a cough for a day, does anyone know how to bleach the Covid from it?"

Rafflesway · 01/11/2020 12:53

Oh and a few days prior to Christmas the inevitable threads re online deliveries gone wrong and the outlandish substitutes.

God I'm a cruel old cow! 😂

CoronaIsWatching · 01/11/2020 12:55

I'm looking forward to the annual boxing day Baylis & Harding moan thread

I want to hear more about RedToothbrush’s terrifying cannibal neighbours, who had 30 people for Christmas. I usually just get a boring old turkey.....Grin

Ooh I love them, a real highlight.

Maybe we should set up a MN Christmas Bingo Card Thread?

Definitely RedToothbrush, you already have a very comprehensive list there, any prizes for guessing how long it would be before shouting "House"!

Hobnobswantshernameback · 01/11/2020 13:01

Loving the bingo idea

Hobnobswantshernameback · 01/11/2020 13:01

Mind you there will be a gap in the market for all threads moaning about school nativity plays

OP posts:
FatimaMunchy · 01/11/2020 13:05

'We have been going to the same friends for New Year's Eve for twenty years - what are we going to do?' type threads.
Or 'What a relief. We have been trying to get out of inviting the Munchies for New Year's Eve for ages and Covid has given us the perfect excuse. Help me plan a New Year's Eve just for us' type threads.

grassisjeweled · 01/11/2020 13:05

Christmas? Lockdown? With the FAMALAM? Tiny turkey too?

It's gonna be GOLD

grassisjeweled · 01/11/2020 13:06

I'm looking forward to the annual boxing day Baylis & Harding moan thread

Livelovebehappy · 01/11/2020 13:09

I’m predicting lots of stockpiling (or ‘prepper’)threads to carry us over the next four weeks at least. Toilet roll hoarding has reared it’s ugly head today. Lots of shoppers at my supermarket this morning with 100 plus toilet rolls in their trolley to add to their 100 still under their beds from March.

Oh don’t you worry yourself, there will be plenty to moan about Grin. In fact it’s already started.

crying Grin

Well there is supposed to be a turkey shortage and that is the natural progression of the competitive frugal christmas thread...

It has to be said 'the shit christmas present thread' will be brilliant this year. It will probably be a list of whats left in Tesco after the panic buying the week before Christmas.

Except in Wales.
They are just getting coal because everything else will be non-essential there still.
