What on Earth are people thinking?!
We've got neighbours either answering doors, we've got other neighbours leaving tubs of sweets on doorsteps - huge, HUGE bunches of people (ie. different households) grouping together walking up and down the street and up and down people's drives, absolutely no social distancing at all.

I hate lockdown as much as the next person, but its shit like this that is why we're facing increased deaths and harsher measures.

We’re in medium, which I think is tier 1. No one has knocked on our doors yet and locals have been arranging things like Halloween walks where you follow a route and look for clues (there’s a proper name for this and I can’t bloody think of it).

I guess that’s why we’re in tier 1, we’re actually following the rules 🤷🏾‍♀️

(Not that the government has said you can’t trick or treat and haven’t made the rules so bloody confusing from the beginning).

We've got a Pumpkin trail in the village all weekend. Its great how many people have got involved. Its been made clear though that people shouldn't go to doors guising this year. I've got pumpkins lit in my window and there's been quite a few folk out 'spotting' them. Local shops have put up prizes. Its a nice compromise

romany4 · 31/10/2020 18:17

22Whammyyammy

My village is doing the same.
Are you in West Yorkshire??

blueangel19 · 31/10/2020 18:22

Probably cruel to take the kids on a treat or trick this year when there is hardly anybody giving candles.

SilkieRabbits · 31/10/2020 18:26

Tier 1 nothing which is probably why were are Tier 1.

123rd · 31/10/2020 18:26

T1 here too. Normally the local neighbours are very busy with loads of kids and parents enjoying the night. I was out in the car around dinner time and didn't see one house decorated or any groups out.
I guess that it's sensible behaviour like that that helps keep us in T1. Not that it matters a shiny shit whilst waiting for the next lockdown

LastGoldenDaysOfSummer · 31/10/2020 18:28

Tier 1 - pumpkin trail. DCs and parents walk around the village, every time the DCs see a pumpkin parent provides a sweet. Seems to be working well. No crowding all staying well apart.

DinkBoo · 31/10/2020 18:28

Tier 3 here and no trick or treaters at all, when we normally have loads.

Quaagars · 31/10/2020 18:30

We're in a tier 3 area and usually get loads of trick or treaters - not had a single one yet this year, it's so bizarre (and calm, love it as I hate trick or treaters at the best of times lol)

aToadOnTheWhole · 31/10/2020 18:34

Tier 3, we have our window decorated and have seen a couple of families we know doing a pumpkin hunt. It's usually absolutely heaving from 5pm till about 8pm.

We went out to wave and have a chat but no contraband haribo changed hands and everyone was over six feet away. 🎃😂

fourquenelles · 31/10/2020 18:36

Tier 1. Last year I had 92 children knock at my door. This year nary a one but someone close by is setting off fireworks in the storm.

Bejazzled · 31/10/2020 18:41

Given the weather here there’s no kids out. I wouldn’t e joining in anyway.
According to some that will be the Tories fault as well Hmm

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 31/10/2020 18:41

Tier 1 here and no ones out

Theimpossiblegirl · 31/10/2020 18:43

Tier 1, I've had one, prearranged and social distancing.
Maybe that's why our cases are so low.

All these kids and parents out mixing will be back at the school gates Monday, mixing more.

Tyranttoddler · 31/10/2020 18:45

I'm in tier 3. We walked round to see pumpkins. I've not seen any trick or treaters

Hoppinggreen · 31/10/2020 18:51

Tier 3 and on an estate people drive to as it’s known for Halloween decorations. Someone has organised a pumpkin train so we have put up a designated word and have put some pumpkins in the window (much less than usual). I have also put a sign on the door saying no Trick or Treaters
It’s not allowed here to come into someone else’s garden so I don’t see how knocking on our door or collecting sweets from a bowl outside is ok

Wishihadanalgorithm · 31/10/2020 19:05

Tier 1, Our village has a Halloween trail with a bag of sweet available at the end. The sweets have been quarantined for a week too. Small family groups walking around and one group of 10 year old boys. All calm, friendly and distanced.

Some houses have left sweets out in bowls so people can help themselves if they want to. All very sensible and actually better than trick or treating.

LucillevsLowkee · 31/10/2020 19:06

There has been a lot of pumpkin spotting, halloween trails etc.. organised around here. Parents hand the sweets, everybody is happy.

There still are a few idiots who were boasting about trick or treating. Not only they are stupid, but will just walk around aimlessly as nearly no house will be giving out sweets and most people have either put a "no trick or treat" sign or removed the pumpkins.

Mummyoflittledragon · 31/10/2020 19:07

Tier 1. No one ever comes here anyway. But residents in the centre of the village have organised pumpkin walks and some people have put wrapped lollies in pumpkins... according to FB.

Woolwichgirl · 31/10/2020 19:14

"Idiot" has been thrown around too much its lost its meaning..

DontDribbleOnTheCarpet · 31/10/2020 19:15

We are tier 1, but there is also a massive storm tonight (forecast to get up to Storm 11) so unsurprisingly no visitors.
We have bought some sweets for our great-nephews, which we will put in bags and tie to our gate for the boys t find when the wind dies down in a day or two. One of them is very vulnerable so we are extra careful and make sure we maintain emotional but not physical contact.

D4rwin · 31/10/2020 19:18

Entitled enough to demand sweets from strangers I guess rules don't mean much

Caroncanta · 31/10/2020 19:21

I've got decorations up and treats outside. If people don't want to take them they don't have to do they.

HaudYerWheeshtBawbag · 31/10/2020 19:21

Entitled enough to demand sweets from strangers I guess rules don't mean much

You mean the people who’ve left sweets on their door steps and put pumpkins on their wins.

They haven’t broken any rules not are they demanding anything Hmm

Hyperbole much Hmm

ThisMustBeMyDream · 31/10/2020 19:22

T3 here. We're just home from a walk round the local estate to see all the displays that have been done. We took our own sweets, and the kids got a sweet for each house spotted.
Saw lots of others out but no one knocking on doors.
