Thoughts on celebrating Halloween the day after Halloween? If you can’t make it on the day?

Things like watching movies and food.

Why do you celebrate Halloween? Are you ancient Celts?

IHaveBrilloHair · 30/10/2020 20:07

Sounds fine to me I can't see why not.

satnighttakeaway · 30/10/2020 20:08

Well you can't go trick or treating on any other date but I've never heard of any restrictions on movie watching and food although I don't know what that entails at Halloween

Is that celebrating Halloween? I had visions of witch worship in a graveyard.

No idea Confused I didn't know it was marked with special food and films, all that happens round here is kids in costumes walking round knocking on doors for sweets. I'm in England but maybe the OP isn't

marmitegirl01 · 30/10/2020 21:08

Surely you can just decide for yourself to do that?? 🤷‍♀️🎃

Viv0321 · 30/10/2020 22:13

Thanks all

Duanphen · 30/10/2020 22:20

It's not a celebration.

Viv0321 · 31/10/2020 12:58

Really?

Is 'celebrating' Halloween a thing?

MahMahMahMahCorona · 31/10/2020 13:10

No you can't celebrate it on any other day hence why I'm eating all the "Halloween" treats sweets cakes pizza bacon sandwiches crisps and chocolate today. Tomorrow they'll have all gone off, and if I eat them then, I'll turn into a pumpkin.

The curse of "celebrating Halloween" on a non-Halloween day is real, folks. Honest.

CovidClara · 31/10/2020 14:03

If you celebrate a day late you will miss all the other witches as they will be sleeping off in their caves/cottages.

iftherewereahorseyinthehouse · 31/10/2020 14:05

A weird question really. People don't celebrate Halloween and nobody will care if or when you do. I don't get it.

GrumpyHoonMain · 31/10/2020 14:05

Hindu Halloween is coming up. You could risk life and limb like I did when I was a kid by giving offerings to crossroad demons in the middle of a crossroad lol.

iftherewereahorseyinthehouse · 31/10/2020 14:06

Sorry that was a bit abrupt but I've just heard Sean Connery has died and that and e impending lockdown has put me in a foul mood.

I'm in England as well and when I was my children were kids we used to decorate the house with spooky decorations and make themed food and have a spooky film night. My boys are 24 and 21 now. So I'm going back nearly 20 years!

iklboogeymum · 31/10/2020 14:12

People don't celebrate Halloween

Pagans do.

notacooldad · 31/10/2020 14:33

I think people are. England a bot obtuse with the word 'celebrate'
I'm certain she just means have a bit of fun with imagery of ghosts and ghouls.
As long as you don't go trick or treating no one will give a hoot what you do!

BritWifeinUSA · 31/10/2020 14:37

What makes watching films and eating food specific to Halloween? Don’t you eat food most, if not all, days?

Noitjustwontdo · 31/10/2020 14:39

You can watch ‘Halloween’ films any time of the year, there’s no rule against it.

Yes,us pesky English people using language correctly Grin

What's wrong with saying do Halloween? Posters are assuming the OP means what she says, it's a bit patronising of you to say that you're certain she doesnt know the correct word

Elphame · 31/10/2020 15:26

Of course - we've had so many calendar changes I can guarantee that we're using the wrong date now, As we are for Christmas and almost every religious festival other than those that are based on a celestial calendar like Easter. And don't people moan about how that varies from year to year!

The nearest you'll get to an accurate day is to use the solar date which this year falls on 6th November

Somethingsnappy · 31/10/2020 15:49

We'll be 'celebrating' Halloween on Saturday AND Sunday, OP! Grin

Pretend you're in Mexico and celebrate the Day of the Dead for the following 2 days.
