Thoughts on celebrating Halloween the day after Halloween? If you can’t make it on the day?

Things like watching movies and food.

Yes, celebrating Halloween IS a thing in England Hmm FFS why are posters such misery bore all the time on this forum?

You don't have to do anything, others chose to bring a little fun on a depressing time of the year. Kids go trick or treating (not this year), people decorate their house, there are halloween-themed parties, halloween trails and halloween weeks all over parks and zoos etc and people watch horror movies around this time. Big deal.

Yes, they also eat food and watch movies (possibly horror) all year round. You still seem to have spectacularly missed the fact that even the movie industry release certain kind of movies around this date. Why would you think they do that?

OP, it's a weird question, why wouldn't you?

Ffs, the MN fun police are very vigilant today. If you want to have a bit of halloween fun with you kids and can't do it today tomorrow should be fine Halloween Smile

Tigger03 · 31/10/2020 16:34

Of course you can! Not sure why everyone is being so miserable, lots of people do hallloween based activities (we did as a family back in the 90s!)

Have fun watching Halloween movies, spooky food and carving pumpkins!

notacooldad · 31/10/2020 16:45

What's wrong with saying do Halloween? nothing wrong with saying that but caring my neck of the woods people say both. 'Celebrating' and ' doing' Halloween 🎃 and mean the same thing.
Posters are assuming the OP means what she says, it's a bit patronising of you to say that you're certain she doesnt know the correct word
I understand it to mean she wanted fun with her kids for Halloween but not on the actual day as she isn't free.
I didnt think that was patronising to be honest!

ZombieAttack · 31/10/2020 16:47

I’m pretty sure no one cares. 🤷🏻‍♀️

speakout · 31/10/2020 16:49

Why do you celebrate Halloween? Are you ancient Celts?

Do you have to be an ancient Celt to celebrate Halloween?

It's pretty much part of modern day culture.

WotWouldCJDo · 31/10/2020 16:53

As with many others, it was the use of the word "celebrate" that caught my attention. Do people celebrate Hallowe'en, and if so what are you actually celebrating?

RudeAF · 31/10/2020 16:54

I’m northern so have always “done” Halloween and went trick of treating in the early evening as a kid but in the gentlest way no one cares what you eat or watch tomorrow. Just like no one cares or will arrest me if I watch Elf and open my advent calendar tonight Halloween Grin

nc1962 · 31/10/2020 17:00

I'm celebrating it all week because it's my favourite time of year!

Our long-dead ancestors and the thin line between this world and the next. I think. Something like that Grin

I have frequently 'celebrated' Halloween for a good few weeks before by eating all the tiny tiny chocolate bar. Over and over again.

DappledThings · 31/10/2020 17:39

How is this even a question? Do what you like when you like.

Last year we had Christmas in November so we could all make it. Didn't ask anyone's permission.

Kpo58 · 31/10/2020 17:53

It seems rather odd to celebrate Halloween on All Saints Day...
