Morrisons is offering 10 percent off on groceries to all school staff from the 2nd of november. All you need is your valid school photo ID.
There are some terms and conditions but I'm glad to see there are people out there who want to show their appreciation.
Just thought to put this out for those who haven't heard.

This doesn’t include anyone who works for further education, universities, private schools or people who teach adult learners.

This is solely for primary and secondary school teachers who are paid directly by the school and doesn’t include supply even long term...

A very nice offer but a bit of a kick in the teeth that us Further Ed teachers are left out Confused

OverTheRainbow88 · 30/10/2020 20:11

There's always one
woodhill · 30/10/2020 20:16

It does include private schools. It includes primary and secondary, state, private and special schools, all staff- teachers, TAs, office staff, cleaners and caretakers (that are employed directly by the school, not a third party employer). It doesn’t include private Nursery staff, sixth form college or University staff.
MilkItTilITurnItIntoCheese · 30/10/2020 20:21

Apparently doesn’t include Early Years teachers either.

LittleRa · 30/10/2020 20:24

It doesn’t include Early Years teachers in Private Nursery settings. But would include Early Years teachers (Nursery/Reception teachers) within a primary school.
mnahmnah · 30/10/2020 20:24

I read that it is a thank you for getting the schools open, so parents can get back to work etc. Students at FE are old enough that their parents could work and leave them. EYFS teachers teach in schools don’t they? Or pre-schools attached to schools?

Also, I presume it would include long term supply if they had been at the school long term enough to have a school ID. As opposed to wearing a “visitor” badge if they’re just in a day or two. We’ve had a long term supply teacher since September covering our Deputy Head’s class as she’s been out of class being Acting Head as the Head has been off with breast cancer. He (the supply teacher) has a school ID badge so I’m guessing he’d be able to show that.

From their website

Fossie · 30/10/2020 20:37

From November 2nd. Not just that day.

Loshad · 30/10/2020 20:41

Most FE colleges aren’t teaching fully f2f anyway, but be pleased with the offer that will help some people. Morrisons have done a discount for NHS staff for the past few months, so suspect when this one is up they will give the discount to another different group.

FuckedyFuck · 30/10/2020 20:44

This is nice, I hope carers get some gratitude next.

They really have had it tough, Mostly minimum wage, zero hour contracts with no holidays or sick pay and literally on the front line Throughout.

I have many friends who are carers who feel completely forgotton about and disregarded.

LittleRa · 30/10/2020 20:45

The OP says from 2nd November.
ApricotOLeary · 30/10/2020 20:46

I'm not a teacher but am pleased school staff are getting this show of appreciation

the80sweregreat · 30/10/2020 20:48

I hope carers get this too in the future.
It's nice they are doing this. Would also be nice to see other places following suit.

NotExactlyMrsCurrentAffairs · 30/10/2020 20:50

Oooh! Thank you Op

Subordinateclause · 30/10/2020 20:51

It's great. I wonder how many people like me work in little, old-fashioned schools and don't have photo ID though?! Hoping they accept something else...

I don’t think that’s true?

Shock I thought photo IDs were a safeguarding requirement. Hope you manage to get something else sorted.
Subordinateclause · 30/10/2020 20:58

LittleRa Probably in secondaries, but there are days I could be the only teacher in school. It's tiny. Everyone definitely knows who I am!

Flipflops85 · 30/10/2020 20:58

It includes anyone who works in a primary school, so any early years teachers who work in primary schools will be eligible.

Doyouknowwhat · 30/10/2020 21:01

Nursery stayed open too, to care for children of other key workers.
But they are not included in this.
It's a great scheme, but another kick in the teeth for early years.

I teach in a university.

I can still be happy that something good is happening for other people Confused

Confusedamonium · 30/10/2020 21:03

Far too many selfish people in the world who think it's "a kick in the teeth" for anyone else to ever get something they don't get. The only time you should look in your neighbour's bowl is to check that they have enough.
