What are you doing for Halloween this year? 🎃

Obviously trick or treating isn't on the cards. We're going to carve a pumpkin and have a treasure hunt for some treats. Then the DC are having a friend over for a little party. For dinner we are having pumpkin pizzas (english muffin, red leicester cheese and a basil leaf for the stalk) and we've made a spider web cake. Then we're going to play some games - apple bobbing, sweet on a flour mountain and trying to eat a donut hung on a string! I also have some scratch art sugar skulls for them. We've got a few small fireworks as a suprise at the end.

What are you up to?

We are doing a version of trick or treating in our neighbourhood. People are going to walk around the village (in their own household bubbles) with kids dressed up as usual, but instead of knocking on doors we will be trying to spot as many spooky, decorated houses as possible. Each house we spot, we will give our kids a treat from a bag that we've taken out with us.
Hopefully there will still be a nice atmosphere and everyone will have loads of fun, but without sharing sweets or knocking on people's doors.

I hate Halloween so I'm doing the same as I always do, nothing except looking forward to when it's over

TheSweetestHalleluja · 30/10/2020 19:10

Making pumpkin pie!

lazylump72 · 30/10/2020 19:28

Spent all day trimming up the back garden for my 8 yr old and any passers by who are more than welcome to come in and enjoy too..luckily our back garden is huge and we have a side gate that is nowhere near the house so we put up a sign and invited people to socially distance and have a look around on their own without us being out...I hope some people come with their children on their pumpkin walk I felt it was really important to do something for the kids in our community...

FourEyesGood · 30/10/2020 19:30

We’re staying in and watching Hotel Transylvania and The Addams Family (the proper one with Anjelica Huston in).

trinibrit · 30/10/2020 19:43

We are having Hallow-In, where we stay in and watch (child appropriate) scary movies and eat pizza and sweets!

Oysterbabe · 30/10/2020 19:45

We're going to dress up, do pumpkins and a sweetie hunt.

GrumpyHoonMain · 30/10/2020 19:47

Dress up. Go Trick or treating at family houses from the drive way — you haven’t lived until you’ve had your treats delivered via an 8ft selfie stick lol

Everything is so ramped up now that it makes me laugh to remember enjoying a 70's Halloween, of a plastic washing up bowl filled with water and a few apples, for a bit of apple bobbing, and a couple of pre Guy Fawkes Night sparklers for added excitement Grin

Viv0321 · 30/10/2020 19:56

Are a lot still going trick or treating at a distance

BurningRose · 30/10/2020 19:59

We're in Wales so not a lot!

GalesThisMorning · 30/10/2020 20:01

We've made a paper mache pumpkin pinata and I'm going to hide sweets in the garden. We'll move our Halloween decs into the garden and try and make it look spooky! My little one is going to have a friend from his class bubble over to the garden to swing at the pinata and find sweets. If the weather isn't too vile I may make a fire in the fire pit and let them play outside in their costumes. Then we're going to get a takeaway and watch have a film night

namechangetheworld · 30/10/2020 20:02

A wander round the village to see how many pumpkins we can spot, sweetie scavenger hunt in the house and garden, and decorating pre-made cakes and biscuits.

WoobyWoo · 30/10/2020 20:02

Getting dressed up and going for a spooky walk in the woods then home to watch The Witches and eat lots of sweets.

GalesThisMorning · 30/10/2020 20:04

@BurningRose - also in Wales! I'm pushing it by having another child come into the garden, but they are back in school together come Monday with zero social distancing indoors... I feel a little guilty but if they can spend 30 hours a week together in a stuffy little classroom then an hour in my garden surely won't be adding to the level of risk...

tootiredtospeak · 30/10/2020 20:06

Pumpkin trail taking mine around the streets as normal and overtime they spot a pumpkin at a house they get a treat from us. Mine can't wait

Isitbedtimeyet4 · 30/10/2020 20:12

Today we went pumpkin picking and then carved and painted them when we got home, tomorrow we’re going to a local pub that does pumpkin carving and plays a kids halo week movie and the kids dress up and then we’re doing a trick or treat treasure hunt in the garden in the evening!

D4rwin · 30/10/2020 20:15

Hiding in the house with the lights low. As we do every year. There will still no doubt be people who seem to think their little darlings have a right to turn up at doors and demand free sweets.

firstimemamma · 30/10/2020 20:15

Pumpkin carving and some Halloween baking.

Only got one ds currently and he's only 2 so doesn't really understand properly. Will do more in the years to come!

Lorw · 30/10/2020 20:16

Celebrating Samhain with the family (me, DH and boys) with a Samhain walk, tarot and a big roast to mark end of harvest and to honour our dead loved ones 😁

Then we have mountains of sweets, popcorn and Halloween films to finish off 😁

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy · 30/10/2020 20:17

DD having 2 friends over for games in the garden (apple bobbing, eat doughnuts from a string, treasure hunt in the dark, copying the thriller dance moves), then spooky tea (zombie sandwiches, witches fingers) then out to do the local pumpkin trail.

MrsPworkingmummy · 30/10/2020 20:20

We are fortunate to live on a private road and we've arranged a Halloween Hunt where children need to spot 10 Halloween themed images (hidden in trees around the street) and tick them off on their hunt cards. Once all 10 are found, they can visit socially distanced tables to collect their treats. We have a guitarist and violinist playing too so it should be fun. X

GuyFawkesHadTheRightIdea · 30/10/2020 20:24

Samhain celebration as always for us.

UndertheCedartree · 30/10/2020 20:41

@IWantT0BreakFree - hope you have a nice time
