Feel like I need to get on this pronto being 33... please share all of your beautiful tips to stay looking/feeling youthful and ageing in a nice non-accelerated way!

What works for you or what great advice have you been given? Any miracle products? Things you stopped or started doing once you reached a certain age?

I honestly believe, apart from not smoking and tanning , it’s genetics and luck. I eat a really healthy diet , exercise regularly, don’t smoke or very rarely drink and I have had really severe frown lines since I was a teenager. I absolutely hated them and think they are extremely aging so I got Botox ( never thought I’d do it but I was literally hiding my face all the time) , took me years to get it done and I regret not doing it earlier but had all my kids pre 33 so was pregnant and breastfeeding etc. Having very deep wrinkles from an early age has been horrible and I absolutely hated being told to drink more water , no smoking , eat healthily when I’ve been doing this all my life. I think water does help a bit but I also think you can be unlucky too. I’m fit and v slim so that helps but it can also age the face 🤷🏼‍♀️
I look at plp like Gwen stefani and Jennifer Anniston and am amazed they are in their 50’s although they've had work done .
Lack of sleep aged me a lot with kids but at 35 I’m out the other side and look better again! So sleep and water help for sure but I am very sceptical about creams etc as they just sit on the surface ....

flaviaritt · 30/10/2020 16:21

I have no idea. I’ve never noticed my ageing slowing down significantly as a result of anything I’ve started doing. I seem to age regardless.

Biancadelrioisback · 30/10/2020 16:25

An actual skincare routine helped me.
I don't think it's done much about lines but it has helped plump my skin up and shrink my pours. Also evened out the skin tone and generally brightened my skin up.
I use the sukin products and love them.
I have heard the plunging your face into a bowl of ice water every day is supposed to help but no way in hell I'm doing that!

shartsi · 30/10/2020 16:27

Look after your teeth so that they don't fall out. When they fall out, your cheeks get saggy.

ILoveYoga · 30/10/2020 16:29

Stay out of the sun

Always wear moisturiser on your face that has spf

Don’t smoke

Clean and Moisturise your skin before bed and in the morning

Drink plenty of water

Have a silk pillow cover

Eat healthy foods

Meet a professional facial at least every three months - where they will clean your pores too.

Wear lip balm and reapply often

Use sun glasses

ILoveYoga · 30/10/2020 16:30

Get not “meet”

HasaDigaEebowai · 30/10/2020 16:31

botox, liquid gold, retinol

FudgeBrownie2019 · 30/10/2020 16:34

Drink 4 litres of water a day. Every day. The difference it will make will be phenomenal.

The rest is luck (and money).

OhTheRoses · 30/10/2020 16:34

Smiling and money, ie, a contented and easy life. Everything else is genetics.

I'm 60 and pass for about 51. No7 3 in one wipe is my skincare and I love the sun. Oh, and hair - a good hairdresser who uses colours carefully is a must - at least two or three natural colours through it.

Thingsdogetbetter · 30/10/2020 16:37

Sunscreen - everyday. Rain or shine. Even indoors. Factor 30+. Prevention is better than cure. (That means no smoking, lots of water, healthy diet).

Cleanse all makeup off EVERY night.

Moisturizer - don't spend ££££. Just find one your skin likes. Dab under eyes, never rub.

VinylDetective · 30/10/2020 16:44

Sunscreen and not smoking. Washing your face properly morning and night. The main thing is genes though. I inherited good skin and thick hair and have been accused of having Botox because there genuinely isn’t a line on my forehead and I’m 67. I wish the same were true of the area round my mouth.

WittyUser · 30/10/2020 16:46

#1 thing is stay out of the sun / sunscreen everyday!

RickJames · 30/10/2020 16:50

Most of it is genetic but my top tips are:
Collagen capsules.
Vitamin B/D/C.
Sunscreen everyday.
Exercise at least 4 times a week, especially things that make you sweat through your face!
Litres of water or unsweetened herbal tea everyday.
Plenty of good oily food and minimum sugar.
Smile!

fabulousathome · 30/10/2020 16:56

Wear sunglasses every day, stay slim but not skinny as that makes your face look old.

I don't follow these suggestions myself.

Perching · 30/10/2020 17:01

Don’t smoke
No sugar
Sunscreen
Acid tone
HRT

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/10/2020 17:11

Sunblock, retinol, no booze or fags, no sun beds and keep your weight down, lugging excess weights bad for your heart.

FineWordsForAPorcupine · 30/10/2020 17:12

It's mostly luck but I think it helps to find a simple couple of products that work for your skin - I have been using clinique dramatically different moisturiser and the clarifying lotion since I was twenty, and it really suits my skin. Aside from that, I smoke, drink too much, sleep in my makeup and regularly get IDed buying alcohol (I'm 40). It's not fair - but then I'm nearly completely grey, so it's swings and roundabouts :)

Steer clear of makeup removing wipes though - I find them really harsh and shred my skin.

FineWordsForAPorcupine · 30/10/2020 17:13

... Also, don't have kids! #notallparents but it does seem to really age you...

KnightsofColumbusThatHurt · 30/10/2020 17:14

SPF every day and hyaluronic acid on damp skin/drink plenty of water to make sure skin in hydrated to plump out any fine lines.

Also, my own personal tip, be a little bit fat as that also helps to plump out the wrinkles Wink

goggygill · 30/10/2020 17:16

I think a lot is genetics & then if you manage it zero alcohol.

goggygill · 30/10/2020 17:18

My mum doesn't have forehead wrinkles & neither do I but you see teenagers with them so some of is just how your face moves.

NoWordForFluffy · 30/10/2020 17:22

@FineWordsForAPorcupine

... Also, don't have kids! #notallparents but it does seem to really age you...
This is what I came to say! 😂
ARoseInHarlem · 30/10/2020 17:23

Be born to the right parents

Don't have kids of your own

Live a charmed life

Die early

*in any combination

Toilenstripes · 30/10/2020 17:26

Whiten your teeth a bit, stay slim and present yourself elegantly.

SynchroSwimmer · 30/10/2020 19:02

Take a pint of water up to bed and drink it on waking - by the time you have cleaned your teeth, everything is “on the move” 😂

Regular sauna at the gym, for relaxation and great facial skin - followed by a heavy retinol treatment which stays on for 36 hours (only when it’s rainy/indoors/non-sunny weather)

Weekly heavy scrub, using an industrial strength body scrub - but on my face.

Marine collagen supplements - made a very noticeable improvement to my face also padded out pre-existing wrinkles.

Eating a fibrous diet to promote rapid gut transit - in my case lots or pears and beetroot.

Abusing my ultra-fine hair by swimming in sea and chlorinated water - to thicken it nicely up!
