Morrisons More - Theft

Whatamesssss · 30/10/2020 11:16

I just wanted to let everyone know that your More points are not safe. I have just discovered that the points I was saving all year for Christmas have been stolen.

Morrisons more will not reimburse the points even though they were used hundreds of miles from my location and I had requested online only and they were used in store.

I haven't lost my card. They claim it was my password. I use the random password generator so it is unique to that website. They will not take responsibility.

So check your points and spend them as soon as possible. So annoyed Angry

@AldiAisleofCrap

No you don’t need your card if you have the vouchers.
But how do you get the vouchers? Are they sent to your home address? Wouldn't you need a card to access the vouchers?

Yes it was in the Times as well - it has happened this year too.

MereDintofPandiculation · 30/10/2020 12:27

I very rarely get a voucher so I presume mine are being siphoned off too.

JacobReesMogadishu · 30/10/2020 12:27

There was a thread last year about this. So ongoing issue.

Harriedharriet · 30/10/2020 12:28

I bet it is Head Office doing it to drive up spending. Conspiracy maybe but so often there are exposes on Corporate malfeasance.

froomeonthebroom · 30/10/2020 12:28

Happened to me. My points were spent in London, we live in the midlands. Morrisons would not refund them or take any responsibility.

Whoooootaminute · 30/10/2020 12:31

Interesting. I have never accrued that many vouchers and spend each £5 when I get one.

On a couple of occasions there have been anomalies re my points account - as in not showing the correct amount - but I have emailed Morrisons and the problem has been sorted. Try and email them now and just get the brush off - " we can't reply as we are busy feeding the nation"

AldiAisleofCrap · 30/10/2020 12:32

Yes vouchers are sent to your home address but if it’s an inside job maybe they could print them? When you are in store you just hand over vouchers you don’t need the card. I sometimes give some to my adult daughter.

Laiste · 30/10/2020 12:32

Any journalists reading today?

froomeonthebroom · 30/10/2020 12:32

Should also say, I've changed my preferences to only get printed vouchers now so they can't be stolen.

This all happened on the same day according to my transaction history so no chance of them being sent out. Downloaded to card and spent same day.

Changing your preferences makes no difference. They just changed mine before they stole them.

It happened to my Clubcard points with Tesco. I had almost £40 of money off vouchers which were accidentally sent to my old address. The new residents obviously used them but Tesco were amazing and refunded the whole lot back to me and made sure to delete my old address from my account. It was their fault though as I’d lived there 5 years before and had let them know at the time.

Whatamesssss · 30/10/2020 12:41

Just looked on trustpilot every other review saying points stolen and some spent in Leeds.

OP posts:
Moondust001 · 30/10/2020 12:45

This happened to me two years ago. My points worth over £200 redeemed in store, but I hadn't been for in store for a year, and the redemption was set to on line. The day that they were supposedly collected in store, I could prove I was actually 270 miles away! Plus my password impossible to guess as randomly generated by the computer. To be honest, I suspected internal theft, not hackers. Customer service totally useless and insulting. I haven't shopped with them since and I won't ever again.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 30/10/2020 12:47

You would think they would review their security

They probably would if it was their loss, but it's not so hard luck customers

rosesandcashmere · 30/10/2020 12:49

Misses point entirely, but you have to spend £1000 to get a £5 off voucher?! So glad I've got clubcard points :-/

ThomasHardyPerennial · 30/10/2020 12:52

Their head office is in Bradford, not Leeds.

marveloustimeruiningeverything · 30/10/2020 12:59

I will say I was delighted to see Morrisons is finally including teachers and school staff in their 10% off programme starting Monday until after Christmas. NHS employees have been enjoying it for months.

As a TA, this feels nice since we were rota-ed in throughout lockdown to watch keyworker children, otw working from home, then helped run bubbles of children for the last 7 weeks of the school term, and have finally been back in fulltime since September working very hard to keep everyone safe and desperately trying to help children catch up as many have lost a lot of academic ground. And we're paid peanuts to do it.

Crispsginchoc · 30/10/2020 13:08

I changed the password on my Morrison’s account a few months ago. Can’t remember exactly when sorry, as this year has been blurry.
I do remember reading that a few stores with loyalty/points cards were asking people to change their passwords due to a security breech of some sort.
Sorry you’ve lost all your points though as those £5’s soon add up Sad

BuntysTwinkle · 30/10/2020 13:18

Happened to my Nectar points too, I didn't lose my card. And interestingly they were spent in a town I'd only recently been to once. Maybe it's possible to scan the info remotely?

CabbageStoppedMyScan · 30/10/2020 13:18

@ThomasHardyPerennial

Their head office is in Bradford, not Leeds.
Bradford/Leeds is one conurbation - a lot of people working in their head office will likely live in Leeds/within the Leeds postcode area. It's one big old sprawl basically.

Thanks for this, useful to know!

Would suggest to people to drop online shopping with them - see how much they suddenly care about losing lots of online custom. They can't keep their online security safe so don't give them your card details people!

poppy1973 · 30/10/2020 13:50

Yes, my mum lost a lot of her points. She lost them in store when she shopped with them. So she didn't bother going back to Morrisons after that.

Tomorrowisanewday · 30/10/2020 14:05

Same thing happened with my Tesco vouchers. I phoned them and they accepted that the vouchers were spent hundreds of miles from where I live and normally shop, and said they'd get their fraud department to contact me. Never heard anything from them. Which is only one of the reasons I no longer shop at Tesco Angry

ThomasHardyPerennial · 30/10/2020 14:17

They are completely different cities Cabbage, I live in the area. Just correcting the details which have been stated several times.

Nope. They are one conurbation, which is what was stated. I've lived in both. Or rather you could say that when I was living in Pudsey I could call myself either depending on which postcode I had, cos that area's half Leeds and half BD!

Of course the city centres are different places and you'll certainly have people who live there having their own reasons for being all fired up as to whether they're Bradford or Leeds... but the point made was that if the head office is in Bradford, and the thefts are traced to Leeds, it's highly likely that people working in head office are responsible.

Funnily enough even when I was further Leeds way we still used to go to the big Morrisons at Thornbury!
