Is there anyone who doesn’t think they had covid last winter

no trolling or trying to be clever, almost every single person I know thinks they could have had it last year. I was in hospital for a virus which caused breathing difficulties in December. I feel like I’m losing touch with relaity

Several of us who work together had a pretty nasty cold last dec/jan but noni doubt it was Covid19.

BetsyBigNose · 29/10/2020 23:03

I was hospitalised for 6 weeks from mid-Feb for Pneumonia. I was really poorly and in ITU, nearly didn't make it. I was 39 and do have other pulmonary issues, but Pneumonia wouldn't usually put me in ITU. There were rumblings about whether I should have a Covid test around the beginning of March, but it never happened.

I evenutally had an anti-body test in July, which was negative, but we now know that they don't hang around for long, so we'll never know!

20DigitCombination · 29/10/2020 23:03

I had a 'flu like' illness last spring. High temperature, cough, wheezing etc. I went for the antibody test and it was negative.

WouldBeGood · 29/10/2020 23:04

No. I had something with pretty much identical symptoms which wiped me out for ages, but that was February last year!

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 29/10/2020 23:04

@Blondiney what’s your secret? (I haven't had a cold since 2008.)

I haven’t had Covid.

SecretSpAD · 29/10/2020 23:05

I had something this time last year that if i had it now I would be suspected as having Covid. It was a type of pneumonia that developed after having a bad cough and a high fever for several days. It just seemed really unusual for me - I normally get a bit of a cough and an asthma exacerbation, but I never ever get a high fever.

WouldBeGood · 29/10/2020 23:07

@SecretSpAD that’s a bit like the thing I had. I couldn’t breathe properly, it was scary. Eased after a week but I was wabbit and breathless for a few more.

rosegoldivy · 29/10/2020 23:08

Im pretty sure I've not had it. I've not had so much as a sniffle or a cough in the last year..... Hoping it stays that way for another year

EmilyDickinson · 29/10/2020 23:08

Last time I was ill was September 2019 with a cold. I think that the social distancing, mask wearing and increased hygiene has kept me from catching anything since March

edwinbear · 29/10/2020 23:08

I don’t think I’ve had it, I only know 2 people who think they have.

HazelBite · 29/10/2020 23:09

My best friend was worryingly ill in January, high temperature, and a very persistent cough which took months to go, she was also incredibly weak, and just unable to "cope"
She feels now that she had covid, and that she picked it up at Heathrow, however her DH didn't catch (whatever she had) from her.
Who knows?

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 29/10/2020 23:09

No i had nothing

There was a weird sore throat thing in this area in November last year but i didnt have that either

thelongwayhome · 29/10/2020 23:10

Not so much as a sniffle last year or this one

HarryBlackberry1 · 29/10/2020 23:11

I think I had it last christmas too OP. I ended up in A and E as I couldn't breathe. I was delirious. Never had anything like it. Part of my right lung had collapsed. Rashes down my legs. I work in a school and lots of other people had the same thing. We're used to getting bugs in school, but never had anything like it. My lungs still aren't right.

Blueberries0112 · 29/10/2020 23:11

Never had any colds or flu or any symptoms last year

Lurkingforawhile · 29/10/2020 23:11

I didn't have it, but I think my mum did. Wasn't convinced but then heard the link with vit d, and she was diagnosed with very low levels at the same time as her "chest infection" followed by fatigue. I'm just happy she's well now.

XjustagirlX · 29/10/2020 23:12

I got ill in March just before lockdown. I had all the symptoms so isolated for 2 weeks. I knew it was Covid as it felt different to anything i have experienced before.

Very few people believed me and kept saying I didn’t have it as it hadn’t been confirmed with a test. But getting a test wasn’t an option unless I went to hospital.

I have recently had an antibody test and it was positive for antibodies!

Whats crazy is that my DH does not have the antibodies and was never ill.

fiddlerjo · 29/10/2020 23:13

@waitforitwaitforit

I've wondered if there was another nasty respiratory thing doing the rounds in the early part of the year. I had what I assume was a normal cold in early March but it did come with some breathlessness and a nasty cough.
I had that too, so much so I had to stop often when walking to catch my breath. I never had that before even when the Gp diagnosed me with pneumonia
bumblingbovine49 · 29/10/2020 23:15

I wasn't ill last winter. I very rarely am tbh. I have only had bad colds/ viral illnesses about 3-4 times in the last 20 years

DH who teaches at university almost as always gets ill every autumn buy didn't at all last year

DramaAlpaca · 29/10/2020 23:15

DH and I had a nasty virus in March. No idea if it was Covid or not, but we self-isolated just in case. I kind of hope it was, as although it was unpleasant it has had no lasting effects.

CremantCharlie · 29/10/2020 23:17

I haven't had the sniffles or any thing like a virus since 2018.

Cecilia2016 · 29/10/2020 23:19

I was really ill end of November 2019 for few weeks. I had headache, temperature, body pain, coughing, sneezing and loss of smell. This year I had the same symptoms except temperature and I couldn’t get tested because the test wasn’t available for everyone.

drspouse · 29/10/2020 23:21

I had a cold that turned into a 3 month long chest infection but it wasn't COVID.

Greenhairbrush · 29/10/2020 23:21

Not me.

ChristopherLillicrap · 29/10/2020 23:23

I didn't even have a cold last winter.

I remember several colleagues having chest infections and flu-type illnesses within the space of a few weeks of each other. Some of them think it might have been covid.
