DH says he supports whatever choice I make, my sisters say they will disown me.

They do look very snug, however I am only 50.

Who cares what it looks like as long as it's cosy and warm!

I've got fleece pyjamas. I originally bought them for camping, but we don't go camping any more. I have been to put them on over my ordinary pyjamas when I get up and then keep them on all day.

There's nothing sexy about them though, it has to be said.

LakieLady · 27/10/2020 16:52

I have been known to put them on etc

sunnysidegold · 27/10/2020 16:53

I have a fleecy bed jumper thing that gets worn far too much as an actual item of day to day clothing. I say go for it.

TatianaBis · 27/10/2020 16:56

Thanks for the response guys.

Sounds like I might end up wearing it all day...

I say go for it! Being warm and cosy for the win!

I did get one of these from my mil last Christmas tho, which I snuggle up in on winter evenings (I'm 37), so I may not be the best judge when it comes to these matters

I’m tempted by the granny bootie slippers you usually save for your 70’s . I’m in my forties 😂

20mum · 27/10/2020 17:05

Go girl, as far as your appearance is concerned, but bear in mind that artificial fibre is a planet killer, because microfibres are indestructible and fill the oceans after washing, while the eventual carcasse of the garments lasts forever in landfill

MrsClatterbuck · 27/10/2020 17:06

I love my fleece dressing gown especially it being zipped. The belted ones do me no favours and when I was working and hanging clothes on the line before going to work I wasn't worried about belts becoming undone. I also have a fleece tunic which I wear over my pyjamas while watching TV.

I am so desperate to avoid fleece/polyester but also be warm and soignee Grin that I have bought this pattern and will it from the heaviest cotton towelling I can find. Maybe candlewick. I would make it from wool if I didn't think it would be a bit scratchy.

VitreousHumour · 27/10/2020 17:11

will make it

🤩🤩🤩

I love any clothing designs from the late 30s to late 40s.

Personally I find towelling too heavy. Warm wool might be nice, but more expensive.

My mum had a miu miu in the 70s she made herself from Liberty wool fabric with velvet trim.

I’m sure you could find soft non-scratchy wool.

Vitreous I believe that Bombshell HQ have made robes like that for this season... but in velvet!

I long for a warm but elegant housecoat-type thing that could be pulled on over pyjamas after a pre-dinner shower or bath post-exercise class. I see them in old films but never in real life.

Kind of silky on the outside but lined with something warm inside? So it looks as though you've made an effort if you haven't.

comingintomyown · 27/10/2020 17:39

Vitreous , my aunt was a dressmaker and made me that dressing gown in orange candle wick it was superb

stackemhigh · 27/10/2020 17:41

I have one from Debenhams similar to this, so soft and cozy

WhenDoWeEnterTier4 · 27/10/2020 17:42

Erm I was only 21 when I got my first one 🤪. Not worn when I want to be sexy or whatever but I feel the cold badly but won't turn the heating up to the 25 I need to feel warm! Layers it is all winter.

Elizaaa · 27/10/2020 17:58

We need pictures.

pinkearedcow · 27/10/2020 17:59

VitreousHumour off topic, but the sizing in that pattern is a bit shocking and shows how much bigger we are now. The size 18 seems to correspond to a modern size 12?

Eek.

aToadOnTheWhole · 27/10/2020 18:02

You are so not being unreasonable. I want one.

SummerHouse · 27/10/2020 18:02

What is this! I want one.

That is basically what I'm looking for.

Ooh, candlewick even sounds warm. Smile

WitchQueenofDarkness · 27/10/2020 18:16

I have an old fleece onsie that I use as a dressing gown. It's warm and snug and I love it.

I will never ever ever be seen in it though - the postie can knock for all she's worth but I'm NOT answering the door
