To have more than one bottle of shower gel on the go at the same time?

I love nice shower gels - not expensive ones but things like Treacle Moon, Original Source etc which i mostly buy when they're on offer! Usually I just open one at a time, and finish the whole bottle before starting a new one, but the other day, I fancied a different "flavour" so now I have 2 on the go ...... is this pushing frivolity too far, and should i really just go back to a bar of carbolic soap?! Grin

I only have 1 on the go, as feel like its a little thrill to finish a bottle and then get to choose a new one Grin
My DH has about 3 on the go though at least, because he's a bit of a tart Wink

Thanks all - I'm glad i'm not alone in my indulgence ...... although it has come to something when your idea of fun / pleasure is opening a new shower gel

Oh yes! One of the lovely things about being divorced is not having exh making an issue over stuff like this.

doris9034 · 26/10/2020 15:52

@Sheepareawesome

Bar soap is gross - it gets all manky and hairy and ends up being thrown away. Plus no way am I using the same soap bar as my dses so we would have loads of manky soap bars all over the place.
This!!! I hate bar soap - it makes the sink all scummy too!

Nooooo!

One at a time, anything else is just anarchy.

It only gets messy if you fail to rinse it under the tap when you’ve used it and put it in a dry place. MN is bonkers about sharing things - soap, of all things, now.

We have 3/4 open at all times...allergy family and everyone prefers a different type!

doris9034 · 26/10/2020 15:54

Shampoo on the other hand is a completely different kettle of fish - I have v short hair and a regular bottle of shampoo can last me over a month despite washing my hair every day. And i never use conditioner.....

Why has no one highlighted the need to wash your bum with Christmas cookie smelling shower gel before? The ultimate life hack!

Talipesmum · 26/10/2020 15:54

I have two full shelves of shower gels and sundries open at any one time. And more lurking in cupboards. I like to choose different ones each day!

TwoZeroTwoZero · 26/10/2020 15:57

We use those treacle moon ones because they were on offer in tesco. We couldn't agree on the flavour so we have three open (gingerbread, marshmallow and raspberry) as well as an original source unicorn one. Yanbu.

We do use bar soap btw in the sink upstairs but prefer shower gel for the shower.

GeorgiaGirl52 · 26/10/2020 16:21

@housemdwaswrong

I have different ones open too. Citrus type ones for the morning, and 'calmer' ones for the evening. Enjoy :)
I do this too. Citrus for morning, light floral for afternoon, and a calming herbal for just before getting into bed. Sometimes I have a "cheerful" one for dank and rainy days. You open as many as you want -- its better for your mental health.
movingonup20 · 26/10/2020 16:24

To those saying only bar soap is environmentally sound - try your local refill shop, I can buy by the 200ml, 500ml or litre and refill my container, ditto liquid soap

lockeddownandcrazy · 26/10/2020 16:24

Have 20 bottles on the go if you want them - you won't be using any more stuff so why would it matter?

oakleaffy · 26/10/2020 16:54

''Shower gels''

I have images of St Trinian's girls in the shower after a muddy game of hockey.

''Come on , Gels, last one to the showers is a sissy!''

fuckfuckingcovid19 · 26/10/2020 16:55

@movingonup20 I do refills into my glass bottles for shampoo and conditioner but I genuinely prefer bar soap. I think you feel and smell much cleaner.

Same here. My five bottles of shampoo will last me a year, probably.

Loads here between xmas gift sets. Hubbie goes mad. I go between Rituals or Radox. Not mad on soap bars too messy. Used up old Soap Glory to shave my legs!!!

acerred · 26/10/2020 17:02

YABU to use shower gel, you can get lovely bars of soap and they are much better for the environment.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 26/10/2020 17:26

I hate bar soap, haven’t had it in years.

I like a few different gels on the go so decant into matching dispensers and recycle the containers.

IrkedEssex · 26/10/2020 17:31

I had no idea you could actually do that. gets out new shower gel

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 26/10/2020 17:32

I wouldn’t do that as I like to keep clutter around the bath to a minimum but if makes you happy it’s fine Smile

botanicalart · 26/10/2020 17:38

My one indulgence. Sometimes I know how I am feeling dependng on what I pick.

Branleuse · 26/10/2020 17:47

id feel weird if I only had one bottle on the go. I think people who only have one, and one bottle of shampoo on the go are weird minimalists. Cant relate

ApricotOLeary · 26/10/2020 17:52

I bought a coconut and a ginger treacle moon and wasn't that keen so i mixed them together and now it smells like lovely gingery lemon curd.
