To ask whether you’d go for a double or a king size?

If you were living alone and didn’t have anyone regularly sleeping in the same bed as you, would you splash out on a king size bed or do you feel it’s not worth it for one person?

Biggest size bed you can fit in, then the size bigger duvet !

IdblowJonSnow · 25/10/2020 23:34

Double just because changing the bedding is a pita.

Catmaiden · 25/10/2020 23:35

I moved from "our" ks bed, to a double bed in my own room (snoring, illness)
bliss.
Saved our (40 year) marriage, tbh

Catmaiden · 25/10/2020 23:37

And yes, I have ks duvet on top, it makes such a difference!

user1473878824 · 25/10/2020 23:37

Oh the biggest bed I could get! Sod a double!!

c0ntent5 · 25/10/2020 23:40

The biggest I had space for, got king just now (hubby works away half the time) I long for the day we can move and I can have the biggest bed I can find lol

CausingChaos2 · 25/10/2020 23:43

Double is plenty big enough for me, room to spread out while still feeling cosy.

burntpinky · 25/10/2020 23:49

I’m married and we have super king which is heaven. Go for the biggest you can fit

hoxtonbabe · 25/10/2020 23:49

I have a super king all to myself Grin

Yes the bedding is expensive and it is a pain to change but I don’t know how I ever found comfort in a double especially when with a partner!

Legoandloldolls · 26/10/2020 00:05

I have a superking and I wouldn't if no dp. They take up lots of floorspace and arent as easy to get bedding for. King is ample but double is too small on the off chance do you did want to share

username1724 · 26/10/2020 00:05

Weve just upgraded to a king and I look forward to bed every night! OH doesn't always come to bed so I get it to myself and its amazing!

madcatladyforever · 26/10/2020 00:07

I'm single and have a kingsize, I do tend to sleep on one side and let the other half get cold but then again there is plenty of room for the cat.

Butchyrestingface · 26/10/2020 00:30

I'm single and currently vacillating between a single and a small double after the startling realisation that I actually sleep better in a single bed than a double. Grin

Only reason I'm considering any kind of double at all is the suspicion that the moment I plump for a single, sod's law will immediately result in a fleet of victims paramours coming along like buses.

pinkksugarmouse · 26/10/2020 12:37

I think it's a little bit sad to hear people in a couple say they want to sleep as far away from each other as possible. Ok if one person is a heavy breather or something but I only needed a king size with my ex DH because he is 6ft 2 and I was hanging of the bed.
DH now is average height and a double gives enough space to cuddle but also to have our own sides. I don't want to be far away from him. Definitely king size quilt though.

I feel the cold and would freeze alone in a king size. Even a double might be too much. I would prefer a large single.
But each to their own and if you ever were in a couple again beds don't come cheap. I can see all arguments.

Trisolaris · 26/10/2020 12:47

Definitely the biggest the room can fit! I’m under 5’4 and slim and I still want all the room!

When it gets cold you just throw on another blanket/hot water bottle/cat

TurquoiseDragon · 26/10/2020 12:51

I'd have the biggest bed I could afford that would fit. I currently have a double and would upgrade when I can afford it.

MitziK · 26/10/2020 13:24

I am much colder in a kingsize especially when you get warm on one side and then move over and find yourself in a cold spot

I'm 47. You're saying this as though it's...a bad thing? Smile

MrsJonesAndMe · 26/10/2020 13:39

We have a super king and it's lovely, but a pain to change and get bedding dry... if it's just for one, I'd go with just a double!

pinkksugarmouse · 26/10/2020 16:59

😂 I love that. I can throw on another cat.

My elderly cat isn't allowed in the bedroom because she never stops whinging. She has a pillow, a sofa and chair though so not hard done by (despite what she would tell you) 😂
