To think the social distancing on Strictly is a bit false

There’s no way they are doing their own hair and makeup or fitting their own costumes so the whole keeping apart from everyone except their partner on screen is a bit false

@Benjispruce2

Even with their caveat, you’ve still started a thread doubting the measures.Hmm
What they said. Confused
Bearbehind · 24/10/2020 22:55

No - I started a thread saying that it’s false to all be standing apart and harping on about bubbles and distancing all the time when the reality is they have to manage the situation in a multitude of ways

But part of managing the risk is that they’re distancing and in bubbles. It’s not like normal years and so I’m not sure why anyone wants them to pretend it is.

Bearbehind · 24/10/2020 23:15

They’ve managed to pretend every year that Sunday night’s show wasn’t filmed on Saturday!

It’s all a charade!

As so many on here have said, we want this to be an escape from Covid not another constant reminder of it

Right now those too stupid to understand that they are taking precautions are ruining it it for the rest of us

OP posts:
NoSquirrels · 24/10/2020 23:28

At the moment, if one couple tested positive for Covid, then they’d isolate and miss 2 weeks, but the show would go on.

But if they pretend it’s all normal and have them all together on the gallery or in group dances or whatever, they’d quickly have a problem.

MoonJelly · 24/10/2020 23:45

@Mindymomo

I just wish they’d stop going on about it, yes we know they’re all in bubbles and a lot has been filmed before. But I’m glad it’s back on, a bit of light relief. I expect costume and makeup is done with masks on.
We all know they have to keep going on about it to fend off the moaners. Does it really hurt for them to mention it a few times during the initial shows? They'll probably tone it down one the message has got through.
MoonJelly · 24/10/2020 23:48

Is it really "ruined", OP? in a programme1 hour and 50 minutes long they must have taken around 5-10 minutes talking about Covid precautions. Are you seriously saying that that ruined the other hour and 40 minutes?

MintyMabel · 25/10/2020 00:12

My only compliant is the emphasis they keep on putting on the bubbles and prerecording etc when the reality is they are having to manage the risk sensibly in so many areas so there’s no need to keep going on about that stuff

It is a prime time BBC tv programme. They have a public duty to remind people of these things. Otherwise idiots think they can ignore the rules because strictly did.

Sobeyondthehills · 25/10/2020 00:42

I think its probably very much like BGT, all very sensible on camera, once off it, they are licking each other's eyeballs

Ignoringequally · 25/10/2020 07:45

Unless people have comprehension issues, then once is enough.
If necessary, they can signpost people to their Covid guidance online.

I am not saying they should pretend its normal. They measures in place are fine they don't really make a difference to my enjoyment. But it is the constant reference to it I don't like, it's like when you ask a colleague what they did at the weekend and they say 'went for a socially distanced whatever '. I just feel by now the rules are a given, you don't need to keep saying it, it is normal now.

Womencanlift · 25/10/2020 08:22

I am sure there was an article online before it started saying that individual hair, make up and costume people would be allocated to each couple so there would be no sharing of equipment and they could keep socially distanced

Squirrelblanket · 25/10/2020 08:26

I don't watch this, but I do find this discussion interesting. There's a discussion on another forum I use at the moment about whether Instagram influencers/people with large followings should be posting pictures of them out and about wearing masks. One side of the argument believes they should to set a good example. The other side believes that it's not really their responsibility to set a good example and that we're all tired of having stuff about the virus shoved in our faces all the time.

I'm in the second camp! We know the rules, we know what's happening, we don't need reminding every 30 seconds. It would be nice to be able NOT to think about it for a short while.

Umm no it isn't. Nothing about this is normal.
jessstan1 · 27/10/2020 23:25

It all seemed the same as usual to me apart from less people in the audience and all wearing masks.

A great show! ITT was enjoyable tonight too, especially as Natalie Lowe was there and the delightful Johannes.

Do you nor see the irony of this?

They are doing this for the same nonsense reason that Corrie etc have to say these scenes were filmed before covid.

They have to keep saying all this stuff to stop complaints exactly like the one you're making .
