Looking for some inspiration! Seem to go to work, have dinner with my partner then just collapse on the sofa! Feel like I should be making most of my spare time more!

I want to paddle board but it's such a huge initial outlay.

Serin · 24/10/2020 12:52

I volunteer (Samaritans)
Used to be a guide leader for many years as well.
I like air rifle target shooting, gardening and cookery.
My kids have way cooler hobbies than me, riding, rowing, archery, sailing and mountain climbing.
I would love to try outdoor cold water lake swimming.

Planesmistakenforstars · 24/10/2020 12:57

Alcohol, basically. Collecting whiskey and rum, brewing mead, whiskey/rum tasting, making cocktails. I make my own bitters, liqueurs, shrubs etc and then try them out in drinks at the weekend. Trawling through antique markets to find vintage glassware and cocktail paraphernalia.

CuriousSeal · 24/10/2020 13:02

Long distance running
Rowing
Cycling
Writing

I also want to get back into drawing - it has been a long time but I really enjoyed it!

FatGirlShrinking · 24/10/2020 13:03

Knitting, sewing and crochet.

Knitting and crochet are great portable crafts so do these the most when I'm travelling for work, sewing is my most often done hobby at home.

At the minute I'm making up a bazillion pairs of little wrist warmer gloves and snoods out of various outgrown fleece onesies, pjs and suchlike. DD had some and I started getting requests from other parents at school as they're good for wearing in class with the windows wide open to stop chilly fingers.

FrangipaniWHOOOOO · 24/10/2020 13:05

Swimming (open water mainly but also pool training)

Running (trail & road)

Cycling (outdoors and my spinning in the house)

Fell walking (summer hobby!)

Crochet (winter hobby!)

Reading

flumposie · 24/10/2020 13:08

Gardening, walking, interior design and crystal art. Plus tv.

flumposie · 24/10/2020 13:13

Crystal art when weather is rubbish. The cat is just like my handsome boy that I lost last year.

Yoga, weekly class, daily practice.
Meditation, five mins in the morning as I get up and then usually half an hour or so in the evening.
I’ve tried crafty stuff but I’m not a natural crafter, I’m not very artistic so I usually end up getting annoyed with it and binning it.
We go on walks as a family, we live in the west riding and the hills and dales are just too beautiful to miss.

goisey · 24/10/2020 13:14

@SionnachRua

Pole dancing and needle felting (just started felting so I'm not great yet but loving it!).
That is a hell of a combination! Grin

I joined a good book club in Manchester but I'm not sociable and couldn't stick with it. They must be using an old email address list because they sent me an invitation to their online sessions. You might try an online book club, OP.

Hailtomyteeth · 24/10/2020 13:16

There are poetry sessions online, too.

SnowHare · 24/10/2020 13:16

Used to be horse riding but too fat right now.

I belong to a book club and enjoy it sometimes but we have a member who is very forceful and used to work as a literary agent and she prefers to air her own loud and strong opinions.

We are about to form a splinter group.

I love travelling, weekends to places like Paris and Copenhagen and i am feeling the lack.

I love cooking and love love experimenting with recipes. Sadly DH is vegan so will not eat alot of what i cook (I am currently into Russian and Ukrainian food in a big way) and DS1 is sensory issues and autism and will not eat alot of what I cook.

BikeRunSki · 24/10/2020 13:19

Road cycling, mountain biking, wild swimming, hill walking. Bit of running, but 5K is more my style these days.

SnowHare · 24/10/2020 13:19

Oh, and I am a little mad about bats so want to do some sort of wildlife spotting / courses etc about bats

SnowHare · 24/10/2020 13:22

Oh! And i have thought of another - DS1 has a range of SEN issues and after dinner we sit with hot chocolate and I support him in his homework. It inevitably leads to falling down a google wormhole of some sort.

I really love that. Last week he had a creative project about the origins of Halloween and we had such fun.

dolphinpose · 24/10/2020 13:25

Hiking, bootcamp, kayaking, reading, going to art galleries.

Usually theatre, concerts and gigs too but they are not possible right now.

fitbciz1 · 24/10/2020 13:28

Fitness - yoga/pilates/Peloton/weights
Dressmaking
Quilting
Knitting
Walking (with and without dog)
Cat cuddling

Bbq1 · 24/10/2020 13:29

@flumposie what is Crystal Art? Looks and sounds amazing.

flumposie · 24/10/2020 13:36

@Bbq1 It's similar to paint by numbers but with crystals. This is my next one. You can buy them on Amazon. My neighbours got me in to it.

Thanks @flumposie. Ooh, looks fun. Is it very fiddly? I might treat myself to one

flumposie · 24/10/2020 13:45

@Bbq1 not fiddly. My 10 year old does it also. She's currently doing crystal art keyrings for friends.

Nooch · 24/10/2020 13:45

Yoga
Spin
Circuits
Aerobics
Reading
Baking
I also want to find something creative to do. I bought some crochet hooks earlier this year, but haven't really got on with it.

Sarahbeans · 24/10/2020 13:55

I study. Doing my doctorate now so that eats all of my spare time.

But also pub quizzes / meals with friends and my new hobby next year is paddle boarding. I live in a River town, so mad not to make use of the local river.
