Slimming World -AIBU to be a bit shocked!

I'm a bit shocked by these real life stories. The 'before' pictures look much 'better' than the after ones. Surely someone in head office can correct these? I spent a happy few minutes flicking through them all. I know I should be looking at the diet plans but it was much more amusing to just laugh. AIBU to think someone should have altered it by now? Imagine losing all that weight and then having the pictures like that.

I'm doing SlimmingWorld world and it's fine , you click the arrow to see the before . The bigger pic isn't the before one , it's an arrow !!
By the way I've lost 3 stone after trying everything under the sun! It does really work ! 🤷‍♀️

BlueJava · 23/10/2020 18:07

It's quite simple - it is intentionally that way. The little curled arrow then to "before" and "after" means "press here to go to after pic" or "press here to go to before pic". It is not titling the pictures "before" or "after" it's inviting you to click to see the other version.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 23/10/2020 18:07

Because things are usually labelled so if you look at it quickly with the photo it looks as though that's the case?

No it doesn't, it clearly has a back arrow next to the word. What's amusing is the lack of understanding.

I don’t think it looks like a caption! It’s obvious you click on the ‘Before’ button to get the before picture.

Anotherducker · 23/10/2020 18:11

I got where you were coming from OP, I laughed too. Obviously not at the women, but the way it’s set up it.

Fajitanita · 23/10/2020 18:11

The 'lack of understanding' isn't amusing, it means the design is shit. Of course people can figure it out, but it's a fail.

It's not a label though, it's an instruction telling you how to see the other picture

The fact that you this mundane issue has shocked you suggests you weren't laughing at the design and that you really need to get out more. I know covid has restricted that but not to the extent that a slimming website could shock anyone surely.

MiracletoCome · 23/10/2020 18:19

I agree with OP, captions look arse about face

randomer · 23/10/2020 18:28

I guess I would like an "after after" picture. 6 months down the line when those Muller yoghurts have been binned and the 4 stone reappears.

Irishgurl · 23/10/2020 18:32

No malice on my part whatsover. It is just a sloppy website design. I use the website regularly at about 4.00pm in work when I'm tempted to eat something sweet. The success stories are a brilliant way to stop any nibbling. But it has become a joke in work that it is designed in this way.
Thank you to those who realised that it was just a light hearted observation on the web design of the company and not a reflection on the dieters. And a thank you to the dieters in question who inspire me to have a cup of herbal tea and not the great big doughnuts being passed my way!

I have no opinion on the actual Slimming World diet. Each to their own. But any makeover pictures are my guilty pleasure. And these ones made me laugh as it really is quite a weird format.

How do people not understand that the link is an arrow, as in click the link to see the before? JFC. I despair for common sense...

goingtotown · 23/10/2020 18:38

The after weight loss pictures are inspiring. They all look great.

Anotherducker · 23/10/2020 18:39

@Rotundandhappy I think the joke has passed you by.

maudspellbody · 23/10/2020 18:42

Off topic, but there is a man on there who has lost 21 stone. 21!! That's one hell of an achievement.

rashalert · 23/10/2020 18:42

@Irishgurl

I give up! A bit of light jesting on a grey day. And the website is set up in a very strange way. I'd better get back to work then. Everyone I have shown it to in real life laughed too . At the website mistake, not the dieters!
I looked on this grey day and it made me laugh...out loud!

They must have had the apprentices on!

chopc · 23/10/2020 18:47

For what it's worth @Irishgurl I had a gander and came to the same conclusion as you initially. Agree they should change it

Keratinsmooth · 23/10/2020 19:13

Lol!!!!!

SchrodingersImmigrant · 23/10/2020 19:14

You weren't laughing at the mistake (you made). You were laughing and the "pictures like that".

IF you laughed at the "mistake" there would be no need to mention altering pictures.

Nice try to save it though👍

emilyfrost · 23/10/2020 19:16

But it has become a joke in work that it is designed in this way.

So you took the nastiness into your workplace too then.

ktp100 · 23/10/2020 19:22

You've misunderstood the arrows - they mean 'click for before' and vice versa.

The after photos are clearly better!!

FrankieChips · 23/10/2020 19:23

You cannot be that stupid! It’s clear as anything!

Namechangeme87 · 23/10/2020 19:57

Ffs op isn’t been bitchy she’s making a joke about the shitty layout of the website making it look like the before photos are actually the after ones

Yes! This times 10! It is a very big company. They will have a lot of people looking at their web design. The whole point of the company is that these people look a million times better afterwards. But the web designers have clearly inverted the words. It is an awkward mistake as it looks so incongruous. I'm laughing at this mistake not at the successful dieters. It really is daft for a large company to advertise their services by suggesting that someone has put on vast amounts of weight. I'm sure the (rightfully) proud dieters would prefer it to say 'after' on their new photographs too.
