Am I the only person who thinks parents should feed their kids outside of school?

Obviously it goes without saying I don't want any child to go hungry. But. Am I the only person who thinks parents should feed their kids outside of school?

Just that really.. it's free school dinners. Not free lunch all year round.

I don't understand why people think the tax payer should be paying even more? Maybe, if you can't afford to cover the basics (food and clothing) you should think twice before having a child?

Or should we extend free school dinners, to cover all the food a child needs inside and outside of school ?

I'm not tarring everyone with the same brush but I know people who rely on free school dinners. But have sky tv, expensive mobile contracts etc

@Madonnawiththebigboobies

So let's flip this? I am a working single parent with 3 children. I have sky tv . Broadband and a mobile phone contract. Subsidised school lunches in term time ? Should I not be responsible for feeding my children In the holidays??
Why don’t you answer my question before I flip anything and answer yours... if a parent can’t or won’t feed their child, what should happen?
Madonnawiththebigboobies · 23/10/2020 15:58

Single parent working . Yes I'm on supplement benefits . but feed my children out of school term. Is it really that difficult. We are such in such a nanny state and oh a pandemic.,the world owes us a living

FourTeaFallOut · 23/10/2020 15:59

Wow, you must have taken the Micheal Gove masterclass on slippery non answers Madonna, impressive.

And what should happen to the children not as lucky as yours?
Watermelon999 · 23/10/2020 16:01

@dottypotter

what about the pensioners who have to choose between heating and eating?

why is this just about children and where is Rashfords dad? Didnt he help with his kids food>

Whatever happened to meals on wheels? I used to help my gran deliver these years ago.

It’s a shame something like this couldn’t be organised to help children and pensioners.

It would solve the problem of not being able to cook a meal for whatever reason, would provide a warm, nutritious meal and also would negate the need for vouchers to be used in specific shops which are not nearby.

Let's not. It will not change the fact that no child should go hungry on account of what their parents have or do not have.
chickenyhead · 23/10/2020 16:05

I'd be happy with meals on wheels or rations. Anything that provides the basics.

I don't feel that I am owed a living. I do however feel that after 30 years of paying tax etc, to help others in their hour of need, I am grateful for the same. Yes it is a privilege, soon to be taken away I am sure.

I'm glad your life is rosy, but your blinkers must chafe.

Irrelevant.

What do you think should happen to the children whose parents don’t/won’t/can’t feed them?

Clearly it is for some people or this debate wouldn’t be happening

Surely if you say you work in this field you are aware of this?

FourTeaFallOut · 23/10/2020 16:06

You just rearranging words madonnawiththebigboobies now. You wouldn't pass a Turing test.

Is it really that difficult to answer a simple question? If a parent can’t or won’t feed their child, what do you think should happen?

Have you read some of the replies outlining various difficulties? Are you unable to understand what some posters have said?
paintmywholehousecobweb · 23/10/2020 16:09

We subsidise MP's meals OP. Is that ok with you then?

Madonnawiththebigboobies · 23/10/2020 16:15

Yes I am aware of children going without, like I said I work on this area. I can 100% say the children who go without is because of the parents. I am not saying this is ok in the slightest , however parents have a good part in the responsibility. And maybe should be held accountable. The cycle will continue otherwise. Cheers to all that slated me earlier.

FourTeaFallOut · 23/10/2020 16:17

You still haven't answered the question.

So what happens to the children that don’t get fed?

That doesn’t explain anything about what to do about the children who are hungry... do they just starve until their parents learn their lesson

There’s also not a chance in the world that every single parent you ever encounter is deliberately neglectful. That’s bullshit

You are completely missing the point. Even if it is the parent’s fault, does that mean the child should go hungry?
OhCaptain · 23/10/2020 16:22

@Madonnawiththebigboobies what do you think should happen to children whose parents can’t/won’t/don’t feed them?

Also, questioning you is not slating you.

Also, I think a career change might be in order...

Some of us are quite obviously better qualified in this matter than you given that you can’t even answer a simple question
