To try to drop 4kg in 12 days ....

Aimfor64 · 21/10/2020 23:05

I've massively bloated out due to a treatment plan I'm on and feel hugely uncomfortable. I have an event in 12 days and I know I'd feel better if I was a bit lighter.

AIBU to try to
Drop 4kg's?
Plan is no booze
1200-1500 calories a day
Daily (sometimes double) HIIT workouts (400/500 calories a workout)
Tonnes of water
No sugar or shit

Is this possible or am I setting myself up for another thing to feel shit about.
HELP!

depending on how fat you are to start with, 1kg a week should be pretty doable. the pace you describe, the equivalent of 2 & a bit kg isn't, really, unless you're obese to start with and only managing to keep your weight up as a result of extreme eating habits.

Okbye · 23/10/2020 09:56

Ive dropped a stone in 2 weeks by doing hardcore Atkins and sticking to it completely. Wasn’t very pleasant mind you, I felt pretty gross and my breath smelt lol. Obviously the weight came back on pretty quickly as well, but it worked for me in the run up to holidays Grin

I’ve done it a few times but probably wouldn’t do it again unless I was desperate!

LittleGwyneth · 23/10/2020 10:10

@HeyBlaby

You can certainly burn 500+ calories in an hour if you're doing a tough HIIT class like Barry's Bootcamp, F45, Orange Theory etc. I burn around 600, some of the men in my class burn 900+. Why are you so convinced that it's not possible?

I agree that being able to do two of those in one day would be unlikely, unless you're incredibly fit.

TeamLucille · 23/10/2020 10:30

@Minesril

I lost 7.5kg in a week - after having a baby. Is that an option? Grin

There's a scene in Saw (6 I think) called "pound of flesh" with extremely rapid weight loss... I wouldn't recommend it though

feesh · 23/10/2020 10:34

I recently lost more than this in my first WEEK of the Fast 800 (and it’s settled at a more sensible 1.4kg/week since then). It’s definitely doable, although the first 2kg will be “water weight” and won’t actually change your measurements.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 23/10/2020 10:36

I've found that dysentery is pretty effective for speedy weight loss.

You know you could make an absolute fortune by selling tubes of these bacteria....

@TeamLucille

Good idea, the Victorians did something along those line with their 'Tapeworm Diet'

Porcupineinwaiting · 23/10/2020 12:08

@feesh and were you 5'7" and 67kg when you started too?

Aimfor64 · 23/10/2020 12:14

@LittleGwyneth and @HeyBlaby
I'm an F45'er (have been for 3 years), I did a class at 7am. Got ready went to work. Then went again at 12noon. (Studio is near my work)
Granted I was nearly sick on the last station (battle ropes) but I ground it out ....

Some of you are burning more calories in your 30 min HITT workouts than elite athletes burn in one hour of running. That's impressive.

Fitbit tells me the same thing when I do a 30 min crossfit session. I tend to knock 25% off because fitness trackers are notorious for over estimating calories burned.

dolphinpose · 23/10/2020 12:28

But if you are carrying excess bloat due to drugs, won't that continue, however much you starve yourself. Some drugs just bloat you. I'd be looking for an outfit that hid the bloat and showed off the best features.
No harm in doing a two week keto diet, though.

MitziK · 23/10/2020 12:53

You could try. You might lose some weight. A pound every other day seems pretty unlikely, however.

I doubt you'll enjoy the event, though, as after a fortnight of starvation, you'll just as likely pass out. Or, as professional athletes do all too often (jockeys and bodybuilders/fitness competitors in particular), end up dropping dead due to the disruption to the heart rhythm due to dehydration and electrolyte imbalances.

PetNameChange · 23/10/2020 13:00

I’m doing fast 800, so far in just under 2 weeks I’ve lost nearly 6kg, I’m expecting it to even out now around 1-2kg a week.

I will say I’m quite fat Blush

This next week I’m upping my activity level, which should help.

Notjustanymum · 23/10/2020 13:17

@Mammyloveswine, agreed, Fast 800, but with TRE - me and OH both lost over 9kg in 2 weeks by doing this with a 16 hour fast and only eating within an 8 hour window (2 meals) daily. It was hard, but since relaxing we’ve maintained the loss by keeping to the meals in the diet, too, while allowing ourselves the odd treat or two. Would definitely recommend it!

SilverRoe · 23/10/2020 13:37

I think at your weight and activity level you should be focusing on measurements not weight loss. You don’t need to drop weight you need to fix bloating so focus your efforts there.

feesh · 23/10/2020 15:08
@feesh and were you 5'7" and 67kg when you started too?
No, 5’8 and 77kg. I was a size 14 when I started.

Aimfor64 · 27/10/2020 06:04

That's me 1.8kg down, granted doing 3 HIIT sessions in 25 hours wasn't my best plan. But feeling better and less bloated. If I can do the same again by this time next week I'll be happy. I know this isn't a long term fix, but this is the post COVID kick that I need !!

I started my diet (1300 kcal limit per day) and daily gym or exercise to burn 400 kcal per day, back in mid August.

I have lost 3 stone.

In my first two weeks I lost in the region of 10 lbs, then I lost around 3lbs a week for the next two weeks, now I am consistently losing about 2 lbs a week.

user147425843578 · 27/10/2020 06:38

Good God, what an incredibly unhealthy course of action.

heidbuttsupper · 27/10/2020 06:42

I'm doing fast 800 (18:6) have lost 5kg in 3 weeks

Yeahnahmum · 27/10/2020 06:59

Do the gm diet
It will make you lose weight suuuper quickly. It takes 7 days. You will lose all the weight you want.
Be warned: the weight will come bouncing right back when you are done. So it is only a quick fix solution. Then after your event you can just eat a bit better and lose weight the healthy way 😊.

CodenameVillanelle · 27/10/2020 07:03

You aren't going to lose 1lb a day when you're already at a healthy weight and your attitude to this is weird and unhealthy

Pp who lost loads of weight in their first week on a diet would have a) lost mostly water that will return and b) had a lot of weight to lose

Ansjovis · 27/10/2020 07:21

This doesn't sound like a healthy relationship with food and exercise. There is such a thing as over exercising and I think twice daily HIIT probably meets the criteria. Similarly with saying a blanket no to things you enjoy, you'd be sacrificing long term gain for something very very short term and leaving yourself with a massively unhealthy mindset for the future. You might reach your short-term goal but you'd be much better off looking to adopt sustainable practices in order to protect your physical and mental health in the long term

If you're comfortable with that then by all means go ahead. As long as you're aware of the risks, which as you've read the replies you've received so far you will be.

Peacocking · 27/10/2020 07:33

Rowing machines are incredibly high calorie burners. I burn around 800 cals in an hour on mine while watching terrible trash TV 😁. My weight is heavier than it has been in the past, but I'm slimmer due to more muscles. I suspect its more about measurements than weight once you're past a certain level of weight loss.
