Just as it states in the title.
I just cant stop eating. I'm bored as I'm not working, I try my best to keep busy through the day, but it feels like all I do is eat. Someone please give me some tips on how to stop reaching for the biscuits whenever I breath before I am the size of a heavily pregnant elephant Grin

Don't buy biscuits.

It's the only thing that works for me 😂

EatDrinkAndBeFat · 20/10/2020 14:03

@SoupDragon If only it was just biscuits...Crisps, bread and butter, yogurts, fruit (although v rare) cheese strings - I don't even like cheese strings! Blush

I think the only thing that is going to work is hypnosis Grin

I've been the same since the weather changed. I just seem to eat all the time (and it doesn't help that I bake for the children).

I'm going to start logging in MFP again, TODAY. Hopefully that will be enough to stop me snacking out of boredom.

I'm going to do youtube barre videos too when I feel bored and tempted to snack.

Sairafina · 20/10/2020 14:06

Boredom eating is the worst! My tips would be

  1. Brush your teeth - I never want to eat anything when I have the minty fresh feeling
  2. Drink something (0 calorie!) - have some water, a peppermint tea, herbal tea. You get the 'hand to mouth' satisfaction but without consuming any calories
  3. Exercise - in the time it takes to snarf 3 biscuits you could do 15 squats or lunges
  4. Step away from the kitchen!
  5. Phone a friend for a catch up or write a letter
  6. Plan your meals and snacks. If you know you have something coming up in an hour then you might be less tempted to snack beforehand and can also control the calories much more effectively

I can get like that too. Just started up with the my fitness pal again, which really does highlight how much I was over eating. I just love food so much, and nothing makes me happier than sitting in front of Netflix with a load of snacks, but it has to stop.

poachedeggsandmushrooms · 20/10/2020 14:09

I'm following the Sweet Poison quit plan. For the first time in my life I am calm around food. And have lost 8lb so far. I've done every diet under the sun but this one does not feel like a diet. I found it hard going for a couple of weeks as I withdrew from sugar, but now it is second nature. I can eat whatever I like as long as it is no more than 3% sugar.

blubberball · 20/10/2020 14:09

I would also say brush your teeth after meals. Have water /green tea/ black coffee.

BrowncoatWaffles · 20/10/2020 14:10

I relate to this so much, especially since the weather has changed.

I find my main time is after dinner watching TV. So I've started painting my fingernails to have something to do. I'm literally faffing with them most nights. Snacky food tastes horrible with nail varnish remover/polish on them and it's something to do.

blubberball · 20/10/2020 14:11

@poachedeggsandmushrooms Well done! Flowers

I am definitely addicted to sugar.
3% is very low. My dad has type 2 diabetes, and keeps below 10% sugar.

StayClosePooky · 20/10/2020 14:13

I'm breastfeeding and have eaten ALL OF THE FOOD. I'm like a Hoover. I will never be able to stop. Send help!

AriettyHomily · 20/10/2020 14:13

Don't buy anything nice. It's the only way!

CallmeMrsScavo · 20/10/2020 14:14

What works for me is having a calorie limit but not restricting foods. Sometimes I'd rather have one unhealthy chocolate bar than a whole healthy meal. Also, figure out how much fat it will add to your body and how much exercise it would be to burn off. So, a chocolate bar is (say) 350 calories. That's around 50g of fat and would take an hour on the treadmill to burn off. So, I'd get on the treadmill and burn it off BEFORE I could eat it.
Drink water, avoid the kitchen, sit ups and squats to avoid hunger pangs. Stay busy busy busy. I don't WFH so I take a salad and water and don't take my purse so I cannot buy anything.

lidoshuffle · 20/10/2020 14:16

I find doing something with my hands - sewing, knitting etc- distracts me from foraging.

EatDrinkAndBeFat · 20/10/2020 14:16

I've tried not buying nice things, but then I crave the stuff more so end up going to the shop to re-stock. I've started taking my makeup off after tea to stop me from going out...No-one deserves to see me fat and make up free.
Why cant chocolate be calorie free? Life is so unfair.

Thank you! I actually find I can eat loads, and it fills me up. I always thought I was addicted to food, but turns out I was addicted to sugar.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 20/10/2020 14:17

Don't ban yourself from eating anything and don't tell yourself that you're not allowed to have something. Instead, get busy (preferably using your hands such as sewing, writing, drawing, playing music, knitting, colouring, painting etc etc) and tell yourself that you'll get the food when you've finished. If after that you're still hungry then make an actual meal with something that will actually satisfy your hunger.

EatDrinkAndBeFat · 20/10/2020 14:19

@CallmeMrsScavo Oh, I don't eat because I'm hungry. I actually can't remember the last time I was hungry Halloween Hmm

Noshowlomo · 20/10/2020 14:20

OP- Are you me?? I started WW, lost 9lb, felt great and started to feel better and then started eating so much more and I feel awful!!!
Think I'll start couch to 5k but I am afraid my knees are too weak as I am so heavy. What is wrong with me?!!?

CallmeMrsScavo · 20/10/2020 14:21

I don't eat because I'm hungry either. I'm a food addict. I don't think I've ever been hungry - just had intense cravings. But I lost 40% of my body weight. That's why I don't restrict the food I can eat because if I want a chocolate bar then I could eat a million calories in everything else and still want that chocolate bar.

EatDrinkAndBeFat · 20/10/2020 14:24

@Noshowlomo I think you might be..I joined SW, Lost over a stone, then Corona kicked in, and boom! more than I lost back on.

Only thing that works for me is heaps of exercise.

KnitFastDieWarm · 20/10/2020 14:25

I know it’s said often on here, but low
carb/keto. I stick to 20-30g of carbs a day. I have lost a stone sine the start of september, but more importantly it has completely changed my relationship with food (i have a history of binge eating disorder/purging with exercise). I’m never hungry; i’m eating cheese and cream and oily fish and mayo and dark chocolate and lots of lovely green veg. It’s a genuine pleasure to eat these days, rather than a stressful and addictive behaviour. I highly recommend it and i’m a massive ‘diet’ cynic.

KnitFastDieWarm · 20/10/2020 14:27

I’ve also recently taken up weightlifting - proper, heavy weights, not little 2kg dumbbells - and it’s completely reshaping my body as well as breaking my unhealthy association between exercise and burning calories. It’s great fun, more women should do it. I deadlifted 11 stone on monday! Grin

EatDrinkAndBeFat · 20/10/2020 14:31

How can I change my mind set though? I know what I eat is the "wrong" stuff, I know I am eating too much, but I still can't tell myself to just not eat it!
