Just as it states in the title.
I just cant stop eating. I'm bored as I'm not working, I try my best to keep busy through the day, but it feels like all I do is eat. Someone please give me some tips on how to stop reaching for the biscuits whenever I breath before I am the size of a heavily pregnant elephant Grin

How can I change my mind set though?

for me i have to be all or nothing. I just don’t eat refined carbs, in the way a vegetarian just doesn’t eat meat. It’s easier than trying to have just a bit. I don’t keep anything i can’t eat in the house AND i keep plenty of stuff i like and can eat in the house.

the advantage of cutting out sugar and reducing carbs is that the less you have, the less you want. the craving just goes away.

ImNotARegularMomImACoolMom · 20/10/2020 14:37

@StayClosePooky this is literally me too!
Why does breastfeeding turn you into a ravenous monster when it comes to food?!! I’ve found I can eat a pub meal and still not feel satisfied after!
It’s actually starting to get me down so I’ve tried to buy healthier snacks to munch on during the day. I hope it stops when the breastfeeding stops Hmm

Eckhart · 20/10/2020 14:40

Keep snacking, but don't snack on carbs. Don't try to change, just observe. See if it changes.

Wiredforsound · 20/10/2020 14:49

Get a lock for the kitchen door. Lock it, then put the key on top of a wardrobe upstairs at the other side of the house. At least that way you’ll get your steps up.

NattyDiamondDoll · 20/10/2020 14:51

Low carb/high fat as someone else suggested. It's the carbs making you ravenous even though you've eaten loads.
Try snacking on nuts and cheese. Better still, have high fat and protein meals - salmon, scrambled eggs with cheese cooked in real butter, any meat with green veg, sausages and bacon etc cooked in real butter. The difference in appetite is amazing and the weight will drop off. Can even get fast food on the odd occasion - I was working today so grabbed a quarter pounder with cheese (no bun).

BlusteryShowers · 20/10/2020 14:52

I'm trying to crack this at the moment and I've bought a self help book as in all honesty I think I've got a bit of a problem with bingeing for. Not so much that I'm uncomfortably full, but I do hide what I've eaten from my husband and can't seem to stop.

LolaLollypop · 20/10/2020 14:58

Can I join?? I’m eating soooo much at the moment!! Massive portions, snacks, you name it!! Also BF but my boy is weaning now so feeding less - I shouldn’t be as hungry as I am!
My mum bought my DD a selection bag of chocolates - I have EATEN THEM ALL!! I kept telling myself it was for the best (DD’s teeth) but in actual fact I just wanted all the chocolate myself.
I’ve hurt my foot atm so can’t even exercise.
Oh well one consolation is there’s probably no point being beach body ready for 2021!

BigChocFrenzy · 20/10/2020 15:04

My rules for several years has been no snacking between meals, ever,
which includes between supper & breakfast
and includes weekends & holidays

It can result in some large meals Grin but it stopped dead the constant eating
I have any treats - crisps, cake, biscuits, choc, latte, juice, wine etc - as part of a meal only

I don't even have "healthy snacks" like nuts, fruit or veg between meals - because I know they'd lead to more !
Know your weaknesses

Inaseagull · 20/10/2020 15:05

I was the same, bread, chocolate, cereal bars, crisps, cake, etc. I started The Fast 800 and I reckon it only took a week for the cravings to stop. The first few days were hard, but if you say to yourself, I'll do it for a fortnight (so you're not thinking foreeeeever.....) it's not such a thought. I'm lucky that I live alone and just don't buy in any of the above any more. The food is good too, no 'diet' anything, just good natural food. I've almost lost 2 stone now and that's at 54 with v low metabolism and zero exercise. Good luck, those cravings are a bitch.

@EatDrinkAndBeFat

How can I change my mind set though? I know what I eat is the "wrong" stuff, I know I am eating too much, but I still can't tell myself to just not eat it!
Have a look at Paul McKenna’s I can make you thin book.
Derbee · 20/10/2020 15:09

Start with intermittent fasting. Either 16:8 or 5:2, whichever you find easier. You’ll start learning to feel hungry, you’ll naturally eat less, you’ll have a lot of time when you can eat what you want, and you’ll lose weight.

Derbee · 20/10/2020 15:10

Even 6:1! Have one day a week when you hardly eat, to practice

Emmie12345 · 20/10/2020 15:16

Keto cos it sounds like you are addicted to sugar OP

VinylCafe · 20/10/2020 16:02

@poachedeggsandmushrooms

I'm following the Sweet Poison quit plan. For the first time in my life I am calm around food. And have lost 8lb so far. I've done every diet under the sun but this one does not feel like a diet. I found it hard going for a couple of weeks as I withdrew from sugar, but now it is second nature. I can eat whatever I like as long as it is no more than 3% sugar.
Thank you for posting. Years ago, I realized how bad sugar was for me and tried to restrict it but didn't have any plan that would work. I'm ordering this book so I can get on the anti-sugar wagon again.

I was a lot like you, Op, I wouldn't stop eating and put on a lot of weight during lockdown. I went along with everyone on social media who joked about eating chocolate, crisps and candy. Eventually I got sick of it (thankfully there is no where to get good chocolate where I am) and slowly gave it up. I really gave it up when I bought a scale - OH MY GOD! - I gained so much, I was in shock. I've managed to lose a bit but I hope to lose more once I read the Sweet Poison quit plan book.

I'm kicking myself because lockdown was an opportunity to use the time to eat properly and exercise and, when lockdown eased this summer, come out of the house like a beautiful butterfly out of its cocoon. Instead, I let myself get depressed and when summer came along, I was the fat slug creeping out from under the rock. But now I'm going to try really hard and be that butterfly next spring!Smile

Wejustdontknow · 20/10/2020 16:11

If it makes you feel better today I have eaten:
4:30am bowl of porridge with sliced banana, drizzle of syrup and glass of oj
9:30am 3 egg cheese omelette with small tin of beans
10:30 about 15 giant milky bar buttons
1pm carton of convent garden veg soup
2pm 2 homemade peanut butter and oat biscuits
3:30pm babybel

I have come laid in the bath to stop myself eating,
Tea planned for tonight is tempura chicken with chips, beans and mozzarella sticks (childish but delicious)

I feel like it’s an obscene amount of food but can’t help myself.
I am 5”5 and 10 1/2 stone and a size 10-12
I do a very physical job 4 days a week which I think is what stops me putting weight on but I just can’t stop eating

Noom is very good at tackling issues such as this

Franticbutterfly · 20/10/2020 17:24

Keep busy. Give yourself loads of jobs to do, housework and stuff.

Eviebeans · 20/10/2020 17:46

I have lost weight recently by making some changes to the way I eat: firstly by eating my main meal at 'lunch time' rather than in the evening.
Increase the amount of veg we eat
Also to reduce all sugar that we eat DH is diabetic.
Don't eat anything after 6pm
Have lost 2 stone since may

That's great, well done. I need a stash of your will power with not eating after 6, evenings are my enemy with food

I have NO idea how I am going to remain a healthy weight through winter - in lockdown - working at home. I only want to eat cake and meat pies.

FredtheFerret · 20/10/2020 20:03

Try 16:8?

Only eat between 10am - 6pm (or whatever 8 hours work for you). Limit yourself to water the rest of the time.

It at least cuts down the window in which you can stuff crap into your face! (Speaking entirely on my own behalf Grin)

RIPworkingmums · 20/10/2020 21:22

I was the same up until last week! I hit the wall and decided I just don’t want to eat that crap any more and I don’t want to look like this any more. The first day was the hardest but I’m a week in now and I don’t even want to snack any more. Find something to keep you busy in the evenings as this is the worst time. Fill up with water/squash/herbal tea whatever. I actually enjoy the feeling of hunger now - I’d forgotten what it was like!
