To want a plain / normal t-shirt for £

Money is a bit tight as I'm on maternity leave and haven't lost the weight yet (my fault) I've now conceded that I need some new clothes just to get me through until I do lose the weight. I thought I'd try the supermarkets and so far almost everything has a slogan, animal print (kissing lips) or a Disney character printed on it. I don't have an issue with these as such but I just want a loose fit plain/striped or slightly patterned t-shirt. I don't want "mummy is wonder woman" or whatever. AIBU? Also I don't want a sludge green tee.

mynameiscalypso · 19/10/2020 06:45

Primark generally have loads in different styles and colours

LadyButton · 19/10/2020 06:46

The 'primark cares' range has an over sized plain t shirt in white black and grey for £5 each.

SarahBellam · 19/10/2020 06:53

Bon Marché have a really nice range of pure cotton t-shirts in lots of nice colours and with different neck lines (boat, scoop, etc.) for between £4 and £6.

user1469695360 · 19/10/2020 06:54

I got a long sleeved plain black T-shirt for work. in primark for £3.50 a couple of weeks ago, they had lots in there x

Thehop · 19/10/2020 06:57

I bought a 2 pack of plain tee shirts from Asda/George online for £5. (Or £3 each....it’s still on now.) one black one white and they’ve washed lovely.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 19/10/2020 07:01

H &M or zara are generally good in their basics ranges for plain t-shirt. I hate all the slogans and pics aswell. I'm not 8 ffs!

DragonPie · 19/10/2020 07:13

New Look and Dorothy Perkins.

Marshmallow07 · 19/10/2020 07:14

I got some of these from the Amazon men's section!

StitchInTimeSavesNine · 19/10/2020 07:14

Primary plain t-shirts are great. And they always have every conceivable shape. Boxy, scoop neck etc and all sleeve lengths.

StitchInTimeSavesNine · 19/10/2020 07:15

*primark

Ginfordinner · 19/10/2020 07:17

M and S have loads

SippeeTippee · 19/10/2020 07:19

Primark online have barely anything (unless I'm looking in the wrong place). I shall check out the other suggestions too. Didn't think of men's tees either. Will look at those too. I'm tall so will be nice and long too!

Primark website is just like a small catalogue of what they have available, as you can't buy online so it just shows you some of their range. If you go in-store they have hundreds of T-shirts in every colour, style and pattern (eg plain, striped, etc).
Other than that I'd suggest M&S as they too have a decent range of plain and striped T-shirts.

StitchInTimeSavesNine · 19/10/2020 07:26

You could try fruit of the loom on Amazon if you want online. You have to read the descriptions as the photos often don't match the words.

BarbaraofSeville · 19/10/2020 07:30

Yes, M&S have loads for under £10 and will be better quality than Primark where it will look like a dishrag after a couple of washes.

I like the relaxed fit ones for £6.50

wibdib · 19/10/2020 07:31

Sainsbury’s have lots of good plain T-shirt’s (but they have plenty of patterned ones too so if you don’t find the plain ones to start with it can feel like there aren’t any - they tend to push the patterned ones first). I have loads bought over the years and they wash really well, don’t fade etc. If you can get the supina (I think! Something like that!) cotton then they are even better quality and really soft - maybe a £ or 2 more than standard price.

I think their 25% off all clothes week starts tomorrow which would make if even cheaper 😁

Namegame123 · 19/10/2020 07:32

Amazon- fruit of the loom!

Its the brand that gets resold by many other shops as something else 😂

monkeyonthetable · 19/10/2020 07:34

Primark. If you want a baggy one, the men's dept do supersoft cotton ones in lots of colours from around £2.

AuntieStella · 19/10/2020 07:36

Asda do plain t shirts (though frou-frou or emballished ones tend to be more prominently displayed)

Oysterbabe · 19/10/2020 07:43

If you go in to a Primark store they will have loads.

SippeeTippee · 19/10/2020 07:50

I didn't realise Primark wasn't online. I'm not near one so I'd have to go to the nearest city. Maybe I'll try Sainsbury's and Asda again and M&S as they are local to me. I'm obviously not good at looking online much. I'll check out Amazon too - I trust with prime I'll get them tomorrow Grin
