To want a plain / normal t-shirt for £

Money is a bit tight as I'm on maternity leave and haven't lost the weight yet (my fault) I've now conceded that I need some new clothes just to get me through until I do lose the weight. I thought I'd try the supermarkets and so far almost everything has a slogan, animal print (kissing lips) or a Disney character printed on it. I don't have an issue with these as such but I just want a loose fit plain/striped or slightly patterned t-shirt. I don't want "mummy is wonder woman" or whatever. AIBU? Also I don't want a sludge green tee.

@BarbaraofSeville

Yes, M&S have loads for under £10 and will be better quality than Primark where it will look like a dishrag after a couple of washes.

I like the relaxed fit ones for £6.50

I think M&S quality is terrible. As are the shapes of their basics. They are riding on their reputation of thirty years ago.

Primark is good for plain t-shirts. H&M have a range of basics.

Fishfingersandwichplease · 19/10/2020 08:22

Primark or charity shops

The ones I bought from M&S are dreadful quality and they're all really short in the body.

Dorothy Perkins.

YABU there's plenty of t shirts out there that you are looking for.

FallonsTeaRoom · 19/10/2020 08:46

Matalan do basic tees from £4 plain or patterned.

This is why I use man's ones.
Whoever designs clothes for women are dickheads.

T-shirts usually short compared to man's ones.
Stupid prints and slogans.
Inability to put pockets on most skirts and dresses.
Often just plain stupid looking stuff advertised as "cute"🙄

We need fashion uprising.

MaidenMotherCrone · 19/10/2020 09:05

The ones I've had from Primark have washed really well and lasted. M&S not so well.

lovelilies · 19/10/2020 09:05

Men's range

QueenOllie · 19/10/2020 09:11

Matalan
Boohoo (tall section usually has a lot)

katscamel · 19/10/2020 11:01

I just got a couple from Matalan in the mens bit.. a plain blue and a plain purple, have washed and worn once and seem to be ok.

I agree wholeheartedly

The Next lain t-shirts are good, and the long sleeved ones too

Noitjustwontdo · 19/10/2020 12:00

I’ve never bought supermarket clothing because it always seems to be adorned with a shit slogan or Disney character. H&M are good for plain basic things like this.

Ginfordinner · 19/10/2020 12:17

Sainsburys are excellent for plain T-shirts

goose1964 · 19/10/2020 12:49

I've got tons of Primark t-shirts that are years old still looking good.

babygroups · 19/10/2020 12:52

Try gap too. I like their 'modern' v-necks but they do crew neck too.

AluckyEllie · 19/10/2020 13:13

I was just coming on to say Gap! Great minds. Good fit, nice and long with different necklines. Normally 100% cotton or at least over 65%. I just bought a lovely long sleeve brushed cotton grey one and its glorious. They have regular sales too when you can get a bargain. Wash really well.

LakieLady · 19/10/2020 13:46

M&S t-shirts are great. They hold their shape, don't fade and wash really well.
