Sorry for longstanding mumsnetters if this is another groundhog day topic.
Are we just not all people who want the best for our kids? Can't we have an interesting discussion based on experience and background without resorting to mudslinging based upon someone's background or political leanings?
I often come on mumsnet to learn things from people who do not share my background, current environment or opinions. I am quite willing to be wrong and change my opinion based upon discussions I take part in here.

Good point mellowma, from the mellow class
I hate it when a thread really kicks off, and everyone is scrapping and arguing and then it gets deleted.
Then people start up a new thread about the deleted thread, and I have absolutely no idea wtf has happend or is being talked about.

loraying;

lucky you. beautiful part of the country.

Habbibu · 14/10/2007 12:43

I went to a white horse when I was a kid - really stuck in my mind. I went and sat in its eye. Are there lots of them?

And this is sooo much nicer than flipcharts - thanks Lorayn & 2hot.

I dont know how many of them there are, but theres definitely a few, the kids love to go to this one as its not far from us and my eldest thinks dp is a wizard apparently his ring glows when there are dragons around so she carries it and convinces herselves they are there. It's also one of the first places dp ever took me when we got together so it's not only beautiful but special. A good day for it too. There is a smithy round near it somewhere where excaliber was apparently made but we have never managed to find it!!

2hot2care · 14/10/2007 13:57

lorayning;

do you go to oxford much? only ever seen oxford whilst watching morse, but looks a fantastic city and would love to go.

LoRayningNewtsAndFrogs · 14/10/2007 14:00

It is a stunning city. I'm not from here originally, was born in glasgow and lived in Northampton for most of ym life, but I never felt as at home as I do in Oxford. There's a sense of wonderment about it, especially wandering down the roads looking at all the ancient buildings after a night out. Might just be the booze though.......

2hot2care · 14/10/2007 14:07

and a wonderful place to bring up children i imagine.

would you ever move back to glasgow? do you miss it in anyway?

Habbibu · 14/10/2007 14:07

Oh Lorayn - that's so sweet about your daughter and the ring! I'd have loved to think my dad was a wizard..

LoRayningNewtsAndFrogs · 14/10/2007 14:11

2hot, I left glasgow at 3 so dont remember it tbh.

Habbibu, DD's friend came round for dinner on friday and told us how she thought DP was a wizard and we had to ask her if she could keep it a secret because if everyone knew then he could get into trouble, so now not only does DD think DP is a wizard, her friend does too, and they think they have to pretend to everyone that he isn't to protect him.

Who said you shouldn't lie to children??
