Why does DH keep a pair of trousers on the kitchen table?

I've just moved a pair of trousers which have been living on the table for the last few days. And bugger me in under 30 minutes a different pair of trousers have appeared on the table. Why??? He always seems to have something like this residing on the table. Is he the only one?

To give the complete picture, his belt and jumper are also on the table. I shall see how long they stay there. He doesn't have loads of pairs of trousers so they surely have to move soon unless he goes back to wearing shorts.

My Oh likes to keep things in RAM, so they are "handy" so cables, shoes, coats all hangimg about
We are a family of 4.5 people. If we all kept stuff handy the place would be cluttered. So if OH leaves crap around I deal with them in an inconvenient manner.

YesIDoLoveCrisps · 17/10/2020 18:02

Mine does this. They will be there for months on end untouched and the minute I move them he can sense it and asks where they are Confused

speakout · 17/10/2020 18:03

I am happy to move them and can easily forget where I have put stuff.

BringMeThatHorizon · 17/10/2020 18:03

I do this 😳

Well not on the table but downstairs generally. After months of lockdown, jeans feel too uncomfortable to wear around the house, and when we come in after a day out I can't be arsed with having to lug my just turned two year old, who's usually shouting for snacks or something by then, up the stairs to get changed and then back down again. Hence the emergency pair of joggers.

GCHWho · 17/10/2020 18:05

I am not a cat lover. However I’d borrow a cat just to push his crap over the table edge.

cooldarkroom · 17/10/2020 18:07

Welcome to my world... Moronic behaviour, because he's a slob, & doesn't give a shit about how I feel, or what the house looks like.

PaperMonster · 17/10/2020 18:10

My OH keeps a pair of socks on the bookshelf on the landing and I have no idea why.

Flightsoffancy · 17/10/2020 18:10

My husband seems to think that it something is placed on a surface, rather than just chucked on the floor, it is 'put away'. Clothes, books, even recycling. He has a little collection of empty deodorant bottles. I put a pair of his trousers in the cupboard not long ago and he thought he'd lost them! Mind you, I'm really untidy too, so I don't complain.

Giggorata · 17/10/2020 18:11

@Nottherealslimshady

Mines the same. He like to spread all his stuff out though. He actually told me he didnt want a wardrobe because he doesn't like things "hidden away" Hmm
Mine says this too! I think it's a combination of can't be arsed to put anything away and man blindness, when they can't see obvious things in drawers or cupboards.
AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 17/10/2020 18:11

Put the trousers in a bizarre hiding place and when he asks where they are and why they're there, tell him "that's just where I was tidying the other stuff to"

doctorhamster · 17/10/2020 18:14

Why does he need to remove his trousers in the kitchen? Confused

LadyCatStark · 17/10/2020 18:15

If his trousers, belt and jumper are on the table, what is he wearing??

Snazzysausage · 17/10/2020 18:35

I think Hopoindown has nailed it, he's just prepared for all eventualities. Have you,for instance, ever been mashing the potatoes when he's walked in and thought "oh look at that sex god,I have to have a bit of hanky panky right now"? Then in the throes of passion, with masher still in hand, perhaps his trousers got kicked right under table out of reach. That's where emergency trousers come in - he hasn't got the time or energy to retrieve the original trousers and everyone knows you can't lay the tea table without your nether regions safely covered and presentable. Or I could just have over thought this.😂

DumplingsAndStew · 17/10/2020 18:38

looks at yesterday's jeans and jumper on the back of the sofa, discarded when my PJs came out the dryer

gretagreengrapes · 17/10/2020 18:40

We currently have a torch, and various cycle lycra which I take upstairs but seems to migrate back down on our table!

NeedToKnow101 · 17/10/2020 19:22

Tbh I'm the same.

BreakfastOfWaffles · 17/10/2020 19:31

Tell him he should be leaving them in a perma-pile on the floor by the bed like all the other husbands do 😀

TooMinty · 17/10/2020 19:41

Put his dinner in the laundry basket or wardrobe...

berryhead2013 · 17/10/2020 19:47

Omg OP my husband is doing the same thing just now but with trackie bottoms they are on the arm of the couch the landing and a flight of stairs I pick them up and put them away but they just reappear my mind is boggled 😂

romany4 · 17/10/2020 19:52

My DH leaves piles of his stuff all over our house, not just on the table.
Everywhere I look, I can see where he's been.

Not helpful sorry

Cakeonthefloor · 17/10/2020 19:52

My DH uses the stairs as long term storage. We have ladders, paint tins, books, wood etc all up the staircase. I consider it part of our anti burglary strategy. No one is getting up there quietly in the dark!

Bad idea. My friend the paraplegic career said a lot of his clients got their injury falling on the stairs. He makes me keep mine clear.
cakewitch · 17/10/2020 23:11

Mine does not like to put shoes, coats, etc away on the cupboard under the stairs because its "messy" in there. So we have coats hung off every door handle and shoes "neatly" lined up in the most random of places. I do not understand the logic

MangoM · 17/10/2020 23:19

Are the trousers still there on the table when you're having your dinner? Confused

Perhaps you could incorporate them into your meal setup. Use them as a placemat and see if he says anything.
