She has an oversized button stitched on the outside of her frock, at the back, where it rides up above her nappy....

...to find this terrifying?

I always think this (fairly recent) fear of dolls is ridiculous and sort of attention seeking.

"Oooh! No! It's a doll!"

I mean...what's scary? It's a doll!

Lozz22 · 15/10/2020 00:22

Not sure about the button, but the doll is most certainly terrifying

Imworthit · 15/10/2020 00:27

Went to stay in an old country mansion with the in-laws once. There were these creepily realistic, toddler sized, faceless dolls all over the house. Bumped in to SIL at the top of the stairs. Both of us carrying dolls. We gave each other a scared look. Without even discussing it we had started collecting them. We locked them in the furthest room with the most secure door and slept very uneasy 😂😂😂

I bet they came to life that night and are currently hunting you both down, crawling along the hard shoulder of the M1 with piercing eyes, grazed knees and revenge in their demented baby hearts.

JamieLeeCurtains · 15/10/2020 00:33

Or not.

JamieLeeCurtains · 15/10/2020 00:33

Probably not.

user1473878824 · 15/10/2020 00:41

Sorry is the button reference some sort of GIGANTIC MASSIVE LEAP to paedos?

romeolovedjulliet · 15/10/2020 01:08

ugly more than terrifying .

nancy75 · 15/10/2020 01:11

That would definitely come alive & kill you in your sleep, it’s hideous

itsblueisntit · 15/10/2020 01:28

I think it moves if you look at it long enough

1forAll74 · 15/10/2020 01:57

I had a doll a bit like that when a child, in the 1940 era, It was made of celluloid though. I didn't like it at all, never played with it. My late Mum used to keep putting it on my bed, but I told her to put it away somewhere. I think she put it in her wardrobe. But in later years, she had it sitting on her sofa, she was a great knitter, and kept knitting different outfits for it.

When she died 15 years ago, I went to clear her flat out, and found the doll again, and for some reason, could not throw it out. I was also bringing a wooden blanket chest back home 150 miles away, my son wanted the chest to store things in. Took the chest to his house near me,I had stored the nasty doll in there, He saw the doll. sat it on his floor, and suddenly one of his Dachshund dogs started barking at the doll, snatched the doll by the arm, and shot into the garden, and almost tore the doll to pieces.

My son thought it was hilarious, saying you never liked that doll Mum, and my dogs don't like it either !

Pixxie7 · 15/10/2020 02:13

Twillow@ totally agree.

Mypathtriedtokillme · 15/10/2020 02:33

It’s the uncanny valley.
When dolls look unrealistic that’s fine but when they get to the looking too much like humans it suddenly turns into creepy as fuck. (Same goes for robots)

Goosefoot · 15/10/2020 02:35

Those porcelain things are always a little weird looking, but the baby ones especially.

NRatched · 15/10/2020 02:59

My sister used to collect these. I had to share a room with her.

By FAR the worst thing she had though, was this fucking terrifying porcelain clown that she hung from the ceiling right next to my face as I was on top bunk Sad

Thisisnotnormal69 · 15/10/2020 03:07

Creepy, but what’s the button thing about?

Imworthit · 15/10/2020 17:10

@JamieLeeCurtains

Probably not.
🤣😂🤣😂 Yeah still think about this sometimes
Fluffybutter · 15/10/2020 17:53

I can’t even see a button ..

MiddleClassMother · 15/10/2020 18:07

That's a creepy face, but then again I hate dolls.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 15/10/2020 18:10

I too am curious about what's so terrifying about it.

Is it laughing without batteries or smth?

6PeopleInAPubSafeHomeUnsafe · 15/10/2020 18:53

Donald trumps cousin?

ShrikeAttack · 15/10/2020 18:57

Do you have a bitton phobia OP? Is that the problem?

ViciousJackdaw · 15/10/2020 19:01

I wouldn't call it terrifying. It's hideous though. Ugly, grotesque and vile too. There's nothing cute about that thing.
