I had a doll a bit like that when a child, in the 1940 era, It was made of celluloid though. I didn't like it at all, never played with it. My late Mum used to keep putting it on my bed, but I told her to put it away somewhere. I think she put it in her wardrobe. But in later years, she had it sitting on her sofa, she was a great knitter, and kept knitting different outfits for it.
When she died 15 years ago, I went to clear her flat out, and found the doll again, and for some reason, could not throw it out. I was also bringing a wooden blanket chest back home 150 miles away, my son wanted the chest to store things in. Took the chest to his house near me,I had stored the nasty doll in there, He saw the doll. sat it on his floor, and suddenly one of his Dachshund dogs started barking at the doll, snatched the doll by the arm, and shot into the garden, and almost tore the doll to pieces.
My son thought it was hilarious, saying you never liked that doll Mum, and my dogs don't like it either !
