So sorry posting for traffic.

What should I take is there anything seasoned staticers wouldn't be without?

Thank you!

Even in a large caravan there will not be a lot of storage space so don't take lots of things you won't need- you'll just get sick of tripping up over them and/or having to have them in the car.

If there is a DVD player I'd take a selection of films you haven't watched before (charity shops usually have loads for next to nothing)- great for evenings and rainy afternoons. The wifi on site is not usually up to streaming films etc.

Nothing too complicated to cook- the cooker/hob is usually small and there are not many pans etc.

Nice hot chocolate (or coffee etc) and cake for when you get in after a chilly walk.

rubbish bags,
sandwich bags

We love a static stay. We do a big shop on the way, take our own cooking oil, washing up liquid, anti bac spray, hand wash, salt pepper, herbs and spices, baking tray, sharp knife, tea towels, dish clothes, vinegar, sauce, wine, squash, hand wash, toilet cleaner, our mugs, big wine glasses. Sometimes take the instant pot if were going for a week.
For the bedroom we take our own pillows and I have a memory foam topper but a duvet would work as well.
Most have central heating apart from the lower spec ones and are very warm. (We stay all year round)
We take our fire stick but it doesn't always work so also download films onto tablets before we go. I also take some throws/blankets for the couch. I am a chronic overpacker but I like my comforts!!!

@Chantelli

OK all going on my list! Are they cold?
Depends on what you have booked. Check the small print, some only have heating in the living room so are freezing in the bedrooms. Are you in one with beds made up? Some very basic ones don’t even have bedding! Towels Toilet roll Oil Salt/pepper Fairy liquid/cleaning stuff/soap/shampoo etc Cling film/foil Sharp knives Slippers-you won’t want to walk on the carpets in bare feet. All food Warm clothes

Also foil, cling film, sandwich bags (also handy for wet swimming costumes) and bin bags.

DragonPie · 14/10/2020 07:47

Candles and fairy lights?

nettytree · 14/10/2020 07:49

I stayed in one that had a dishwasher. So some are quite luxurious. But the beds are always uncomfortable and the singles are always narrow.

Bagelsandbrie · 14/10/2020 07:50

Bath mat or extra towels to put on the floor of the bathroom.
Cleaning stuff and washing up stuff

AriettyHomily · 14/10/2020 07:54

U.K, this time of year? More clothes than you think you need, blankets, what spec is the van? Heaters. Do not underestimate how cold it can get in a tin can in autumn!

We have one so I have nothing against them just be prepared!

saraclara · 14/10/2020 08:04

Tea, coffee sugar
Oil
Cling film, foil
Salt, pepper, vinegar, sauces/condiments
Washing up liquid, clothes washing stuff
Kitchen roll, loo roll

TickledOnion · 14/10/2020 08:13

Actually fairy lights isn’t that silly. Every one I’ve stayed in only has a big light in each room so it’s either very bright or pitch black. If you have DCs that need a bit of light or if you want to read at night then they could be useful.

Mellonsprite · 14/10/2020 08:14

Fleece blankets, fleeces to wear, cleaning cloths, sponges and antibacterial spray, dishwashing stuff, and your shopping.

Phineyj · 14/10/2020 08:34

Slip on shoes like Crocs are useful as you don't want to be tracking mud in when you go in and out. The site we normally stay on has pools etc and I was caught out by not having a big towel to change under as the changing rooms were closed - probably not relevant though. Outdoor toys for DC are good - football, frisbee, maybe a scooter if play facilities are at a distance.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 14/10/2020 08:39

Just take what you would normally take for self-catering, plus a torch. Unless you've booked the absolute lowest spec of the low? We do Havens in Oct and Feb and have always been toasty. The kitchens aren't particularly well-equipped but we usually eat out or do easy meals when on hols anyway. It's a caravan, not a gulag!

MinnieJackson · 14/10/2020 09:01

Scissors. We've been caught out twice and has to buy some, then spent ages with a blunt knife trying to saw off the security zip lock thing.
Your own mug and glass
Tea towels
Antibacterial wipes or spray
Washing up sponges

Littleposh · 15/10/2020 06:51

Washing up bowl and all kitchen cleaning stuff. I always clean the kitchen, bathroom and wash all the crockery and cutlery when I arrive but I'm a bit weird 😂😂

Oh and hand towels too.

And kitchen roll
