So sorry posting for traffic.

What should I take is there anything seasoned staticers wouldn't be without?

Thank you!

Bin bags.

Trumpton · 14/10/2020 04:57

Tea towel
Washing up liquid ( I decant into a small travel bottle)
J cloth
Extension lead with extra sockets and USB ports
Salt pepper vinegar etc
If you are as fussy as me then your own pillow .Grin
Towels
Cereal
Butter
Milk

Yes , you can Buy food on site but it’s the little things that add up .

Chantelli · 14/10/2020 05:03

I was honestly thinking about steam cleaner, fairy lights, candles, portable dvd player, board games and ps4 as well as a full lidl shop as the onsite shop is shut. Am I going overboard?

Chantelli · 14/10/2020 05:28

Depends what spec you have. Can you link us to caravan you are staying in

GnomeDePlume · 14/10/2020 05:59

Knife sharpener or own sharp knives. The supplied ones are always blunt unless my DH has just been through in which case they will be razor sharp.

When our DCs were small we would take a huge tub of cheap felt tip pens and colouring pencils plus a pack of computer paper.

Puzzler books.

They can be a bit chilly first and last thing plus you will have the doors open a fair bit so worth taking fleeces for everyone.

Toilet paper & toilet cleaner

Details of a nearby hotel and an osteopath.

The beds are invariably shit.

fatfacesellcupstoo · 14/10/2020 06:01

Just be aware that not all campsites have all facilities open currently. The one I'm on has only one shower block open out of two, the play area is closed as is the little shop and the laundry room
So I'd say, unless you want to travel to shops when you get there take everything you'll need for your stay

Drysnitchinsbitchin · 14/10/2020 06:02

Well the one we stayed at was cold. The gas ran out and we didn't have CH, showers or able to cook. This was on a farm though & the owners weren't contactable - if you're on a proper site it should be okay.
Take your own bedding and towels and anti-bac wipes to do a quick wipe over when you first get there. Download some viewing, a lot of remote caravan sites have poor tv reception.
Check you can get internet - some sites charge the earth.

ShayAndBlueSeeker · 14/10/2020 06:02

The address of a nearby hotel. Huge fan of camping but wouldn’t stay in a static caravan if you paid me.

Hollyhead · 14/10/2020 06:06

I wouldn’t take candles as I’d be worried about the fire risk. Stream cleaner - are you happy to store it in your car when you’re not using it? Storage will be limited. Agree on your own pillow and maybe a duvet to use as a mattress topper.

Nottherealslimshady · 14/10/2020 06:08

Your own pillow. Hot water bottles. Ear plugs. Blankets, thick socks.

AntiSocialDistancer · 14/10/2020 06:13

A good knife, your own blanket, tea towel, nice washing up sponge. Love our caravan holidays!

Belledan1 · 14/10/2020 06:40

Wifi is not always good on some sites so not sure if play station will work.

Mumdiva99 · 14/10/2020 06:46

Look at the spec of the caravan you are staying in. Check does it have central heating? If not it will be cold.
A large saucepan - there is never one big enough to cook pasta. A decent chopping/bread board, a sharp knife, clingfilm.

We cook a couple if meals at home and reheat there- so one curry and one bolognaise for example.

Definitely towels, bathmat and tea towels.

Couple of pegs.

Mumdiva99 · 14/10/2020 06:47

Definitely no candles.
Depending on the site...a torch.

Itllbeaninterestingchristmas · 14/10/2020 06:52

Loo roll, kitchen roll, easy cook meals, a frying pan and baking tray for breakfasts and pizza and chips. Plus food etc for a week.
Bedding if it’s not supplied
If you’ve got ch you’ll be toasty warm.

My 17yo is refusing to stay in a caravan with us again after an uncomfortable well last August.

I always take lots and lots of tea towels, my own mug and my own pillow.

Northernsoullover · 14/10/2020 06:56

A heater.

Looneytune253 · 14/10/2020 07:15

Lots of negative comments. We always have a great time in a caravan. Try not to worry about the negative comments. Check the spec of the caravan we always try to upgrade to one with heating in esp at this time of year. There's often a DVD player in the slightly higher spec ones. If there's no heating defo take dressing gowns blankets and socks. Other essentials are tea/coffee/sugar etc, extra loo roll, tea towels, washing up liq and sponge. Anti bac at the moment too.

SueEllenMishke · 14/10/2020 07:17

Don't take candles!! And not sure why you'd need fairy lights 🤷🏼‍♀️

Tea towels
Washing up liquid
Sponge
Towels
Pillows
Tea/coffee/sugar/milk
Books
Board games
Playing cards

Agree that WiFi isn't great so I wouldn't bother with the PlayStation - plus wouldn't it take over the only tv??

Peace43 · 14/10/2020 07:21

Depends on the static. I use Haven ones and they are normally very good and warm. We take:
Loo roll
J cloths
Tea towels
Cleaner spray (dettol)
Washing up liquid
Hand soap
Towels
Tissues (my nose is always running!)
Shower toiletries
A full Tesco shop for the week
Blankets to cover the sofa (I have a dog)
Wipe clean tablecloth (for kids craft)
Craft supplies
Board games
Screw top wine!
Waterproofs and wellies (for wet walks)
Kids scooters

If I’m feeling dubious about heating I’d take a few thick blankets too.

JamminDoughnuts · 14/10/2020 07:23

rain coats
